  1. There are sooo many ways to do it that most likely you should just try a few different things and find out what works best for you.
  2. I can only agree with the sentiment here. The last thing i wonder when its time to move my Helix is how im going to be able to do it. That being said, if i feel i need a handle, the expression pedal makes for a good enough handle for me.
  3. Oh im quite calm and no, you may not suggest anything. I make suggestions to you, and that is stop crying foul if you dont understand how to express yourself, and for pete sakes stop giving people advice ,especially if its going to be on this level. i mean yeah, people are going to seem rude if you are always falsely accusing them or crying foul all the time.
  4. Heres the problem...you need to follow along a little better. When i quote you, im responding to the content of YOUR comment. You were NOT talking about yourself when you made this comment. Nor was i. We are not talking about you, we are talking about those who would handle drama in this manner. You were talking about other people.......about how other people should respond. I was merely disagreeing with the statement. I was just saying thats not the way you want to handle it.....and you can ask 100 people with an average level of intelligence, 99 of them are going to tell you , you are wrong. Big deal, life goes on. Weve all been wrong before. Get over it, move on. Trust me, if i wanted to call you a troll, i would just do it. Theres no denying it, owning it, or dancing around. I would simply do it. There would be no need to try and "read between any lines". So you can choose to continue to believe i called you a troll if thats what you are so inclined to, but you would be wrong. The fact that im telling you i didnt *should* be evidence, because if that was my intention i would simply say "yeah i did so what" One of the funniest things for me is watching you try to get my attention every time a thread gets a little opinionated. Knowing that i make your blood boil, and the fact that i wont even give you the time of day is just beautiful!! Keep trying though. #inyourhead
  5. I didnt call you a troll at all, but its pretty obvious from your post that you desperately wanted to perceive it that way, and so if the shoe fits....... There are a few of us here having a chuckle at your expense on that one. Actually the best policy is to completely ignore them. Joining in the argument as you so love to do will get you banned in a lot of places... not to mention it will perpetuate the drama...so you keep "handling" it. Youre all over it!!
  6. I just dont see a reason to even want to get under their skin. If you are replying to them theyve already won. All you are doing by laughing at them is prolonging the the drama...which means the one doing the laughing wants to be part of the drama, which kinda makes him a troll himself. Wow, when i think about that, what a sad sad way to live your life. Sounds like dude is in desperate need of psychiatric care.
  7. You can always use stomp box mode. No it wont do everything snapshot mode does, but it couldnt be any easier to get to than that.
  8. Hey man just wondered if you did a Mick Mars preset yet? Im sure on some level you already have. Seems like it'd be a pretty popular one. i dont know. Well im korfuzed then because thats about exactly what i thought a proxy server does....allowed scumbags to log in. https://whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-server
  9. Yeah but see that doesnt really matter though. Anyone with a VPN can create more accounts here than your lil guitar playing fingers can delete. I know a guy that has 37 accounts on gearslutz or the gear page or wherever. The point is, theres nothing anybody is doing about dude here until HE SAYS hes done, and to even take interest in what he's saying is just a waste of time and energy. Some people are just attracted to drama i guess. Im sure thats not the only sound Helix cant replicate. I bet there are 100's of them. Same thing with my JCM 800s but i still love playing them, and nobody can suck the fun out of that.
  10. Not sure why you are getting so bitter. Youre just dead wrong about chastising anyone. I simply point out the discrepancies, and you define it as chastising? I showed you two great players that use IRs, Youve showed nothing. Do you have anything in a similar style? Literally every single player ive let use Helix or i know that owns one, who cares about their tone uses IRs. Proving such to you ranks somewhere down near folding the laundry. When you can fess up some likewise tones in a similar style, then we'll talk. Yes and great, but saying "you dont understand the big hooey about IRs" and having never owned any, certainly could be called into question no? Everybody has their own take on them. OH's G12M25's are very different than redwirez and the next. Theyre comparative to drum samples in the sense that some are mix ready and some arent. Slate samples are near mix ready and Drumagog samples need some coaxing. Same with IRs.
  11. I gave you the foundation for my opinion, or did you not want to read that part? You quoted it.
  12. . If youre not using IRs in your helix theres really no way of knowing whether or not you are compromising sound or not. To say you are NOT compromising, without even owning or trying IRs is an unfounded opinion, and makes you appear biased or have an agenda...especially after coming back around to beat the drum again. Trust me when you lock in with the right IRs, you'll know it. Go watch some Pete Thorn videos. he wont lay a finger on those stock cabs. Watch guitarjons vids. He wont touch them. Its no coincidence that the better players tend to gravitate to IRs, or that the better sounds you'll find will be IR driven..
  13. Thats not necessarily true. Just as you cannot make a dual rec sound like a jcm 800 or a Tele sound like a les paul, certain IRs deliver sonics that are simply not obtainable with Helix IRs. Id be happy to post audio. I dont believe one would get with helix cabs if you want to give it a go. Try it and see. There arent rules.
  14. Well thats because theres no delay compensation for monitoring real time. Playback is actually not "OK" its just that the delay comp is being applied to all tracks when the DAW is in play mode. This latency will only be noticed if the plugin is on the master buss or on a track you are monitoring. (because you are always monitoring the master buss) It is most likely caused by the "look ahead" algorithm in a limiter or such. Turn off (not bypass) the plugin while the DAW is in play mode. You'll hear the latency. As far as "why it causes latency even when bypassed" there could be a lot of reasons, so you may have to investigate, but bypassing a plugin doesnt always disable its buffer. Turning it off in the channel strip works in every case ive tried, but you may even have to remove it completely, or turn off delay compensation. I bet you feel that even more so a year from now. :) good luck
  15. Ha! done it before. Im sure we all have. It happens. Precisely why i said you need to spend more time. Gotta give you credit in owning it, rather simply vanishing to let the thread die. Happy to know its a simple solution.
  16. I know not in 2.51 but maybe in a future update? I would rather just see my request become obsolete with other improvements but if nothing is going to change.....Helix has come such a long way, it seems only fair that we start making some headway on some of the IR obstacles no?
  17. The two issues are completely unrelated. Sounds like you need to spend a little more time using your stuff. All you had to do is switch baqck to the other driver for the time being. Simply installing new software on your computer isnt going to cause latency through out all the oer programs.. If i had to make a guess the buffer for the 2i2o is set differently (lower) than the buffer for your helix.
  18. Thanks for talking me out of axe fx III :) I was heavily kicking it around thinking mostly about what may be possible in the future but somehow i really felt your comment there, and it just made me decide it wasnt worth the trouble. Im pretty happy, but greener grass and all.....
  19. Im thinking he has a helix too. If you ever want to give it a try i can put you in touch with him. I know he does some artist tones too. Not sure what the price is. Not even sure if he still has a helix but its pretty essential to his set-up so im thinking he does. We get into some discussions about why he thinks axe is way better lol. In some of his argument he says "well ya know im there with guys like Petrucci and Vai". Not that it has anything to do with sound. Just found it interesting thats all....as if he could choose anything but plays it because one of the benefits is that the higher end talent gets catered too more, so in that he benefits from it....but yeah i thought it was thinking outside the box some.
  20. My buddy is endorsed by fractal. He does this thing where you send him a DI and he builds and fine tunes patches based on your DI. I thought that was a pretty ingenious idea and really should have a much better chance of being successful in comparison.
  21. Yeah despite the stories, its not hard to get thru an update at all. Though L6 could def do things to make it easier. I laughed when one user said "clear as mud". That about summed my thoughts as well. No warmth on the bottom end, brittle in the highs. No sense of depth. Dont want "fine". Want inspirational. Shouldnt need instructional videos on how to get good sounds from the stock cabs that have to do so much explaining they dont pick up a guitar till 6 or 8 min in. IRs are a faithful recreation of some of the most sought after guitar sounds in history. Drop one in, done. Its with IRs ive built and heard all the best guitar sounds I cant imagine compressing the POD when it's already over compressed. I think youre going to find over time that Helix is a lot better in this regard. AAMOF i think thats why a lot of people are initially let down with helix, because that sense of compression, sustain, that OVER compression that cant be removed, is the very thing that makes those units easy to play, and is gone or has been reduced to a MUCH more tolerable level.. Now i DO find myself needing to add a touch of compression har and thar :) so i guess what im saying is...i agree with you completely, i just think youre crazy for feeling the need to compress a pod :P Yep. Had no problem with even the 2.0 red bean, but ive always been of the camp that with those modelers and cheaper modelers you're going to get 3 or 4 real good sounds as opposed to Helix where tons and tons. some people just have a hard time building sounds, some already feel overwhelmed enough with the guitar playing aspect and just want to play. I dont even come close. Maybe once in a blue moon i need to use the second path. I think the ones you see rnning out of dsp are trying to something more than build a guitar sound or just dont know how to use it. Havent had an issue here. Dont worry about getting the top lights "dead on". Just get them close. Try NOT to approach it as "are the lights going where i want them to go" No model in helix by that name, so i can only assume you mean the recto. I bet that'll change in moments. That seems to be one of the least used among the users that ive seen, so you should be in bliss over the next couple of years. Respectfully, one day one day isnt enough to tell you squat. Tell me im wrong in a month or two :) Good luck. I look forward to seeing your reaction over the next few months.
  22. Depends what you want. For fatter sounds gain down volume up. For tighter sounds gain up volume down. Add another screamer for more gain or a volume block before or after the screamer depending on what your ear says.
  23. Pretty much my feelings. I think they are just modeling more popular amps now. Yep missed this. I just plugged into the stone age, which i never use, but it sounds damn good. No better or worse than the newer models. My guess is that the OP is more happy with the type of amps L6 is modeling recently, more so than any modeling improvements...but then you and Phil already said that :)
