  1. You'll have to be more specific about what you are not satisfied with on the 4 cable method. For recording, are you using the same 4 cable method preset without cab model or IR? If so, it will sound very bright and brittle.
  2. The two units mechanically are completely different. The LT is stamped sheet metal. The Floor looks like the main body is made from thick aluminum extrusion with really thick (1/4" or more) aluminum end plates. The expression pedal is one piece aluminium, over 1/4" thick. The Floor is a beast. If you want to incorporate acoustic and bass, the Floor (or rack) is the way you want to go. Floor/rack have a dedicated guitar input, aux input (for your acoustic) and more send/returns that the LT. I know some guys who have guitar in the guitar input, acoustic in the aux, and bass in one of the returns. All three connected at the same time. Sounds like you should lean towards the floor or rack/controller options.
  3. Real musician, yes. Professionally paid, no. Work a regular 9-5 (or 6-4) job.
  4. If it sounds great, it is not dumb. You can run two gain models in series into a 1x8" cab model if you want, with overdrives after the amp if you want and it doesn't hurt a thing. If it sounds good, go with it.
  5. I did this in the past when I was using a preset per song. You can change the bank up/down to be preset up/down. You put your presets in the order of your set, and you are good to go. I used the Helix Editor to create a custom setlist with the preset in the order that I needed.
  6. It also seems to be recorded on a phone, so it is not a true representation of the actual live audio.
  7. That's the beauty with Helix, there are no set rules. Try it both ways, if you prefer one, then rock with it.
  8. I have found that I prefer the "Pitch Wham" whammy model right after the amp, before my time based blocks and cab/IR. Better tracking and cleaner sounding.
  9. Helix Floor is built like a tank. LT is pressed sheet metal, so not quite the tank. Native is just a DAW plugin to make recording a little easier so you don't have to use the Helix hardware. I ditched my amps and pedals about a year ago, and have never been happier. I have Helix Floor. I think I am hooked on the scribble strips. I play with a handful of "core" presets, and the scribble strips are essential to me because I can't really memorize which foot switch is which for all those presets. I like having the description right above the switch.
  10. Actually, it is the Helix's strong point. It is just not "plug in and sound awesome" in terms of getting there. It is a "universal" piece of equipment with lots of combinations of parameter choices. You can get everything from clean jazz to twangy country to full on skull crushing metal. It only makes sense that it will take some time in tweaking to get what you are looking for.
  11. There is a Helix Native forum. They probably know over there. This is the Helix (LT, Floor, Rack) forum.
  12. Did you open a support ticket with Line 6 yet?
  13. Maybe if we bought them all a Helix, they would also be update frenzied and not be so focused on the terrors any more.
  14. Those are "anti-humbucker" positions (Single coils in parallel with that far apart physical spacing, "out of phase"y quacky sound) My Deluxe American Strat has the S1 switch which gives you series wiring between single coils, which is more humbuckery sounding.
  15. The delay repeats should not be breaking up at 36% mix and flat level, especially if your dry tone is not breaking up. That seems very strange to me.
  16. Which delay model and parameters are you using?
  17. Nothing being held against you sir, just mentioning some things for you to be aware of. Helix is not different than any other piece of high end audio gear out there. Power interference is never irrelevant. Good luck to you.
  18. Metal guys are kind of sensitive. Here's a teaser for one of the new amps...
  19. The only sonic issue you are experiencing are with the sound of the delay repeats?
  20. Be sure to try the new "Kinky Boost" which is the Xotic EP Booster model. It fattens up my single coils quite a bit and may be useful for your application in fattening up your signal before it hits the EQ you put in.
  21. Did you recently update to 2.3 and maybe the global settings for snapshots save/discard got changed?
  22. You may want to mention what type of music you are playing. The combinations will be different from one genre to the next.
  23. Not much info here. What are you monitoring Helix through? This was a really old thread so not sure what you are referring to.
  24. Does your amp require an instrument or line level signal, and which are you sending to it?
