  1. I remember reading that dropping ohm is bad on tube amp, but actually not a problem on SS amps. I wonder if that applies to the headphone output
  2. Will your megapack still include all coming updates? I haven't decided yet if I want to spend almost 100€ on a pack, that's quite some money
  3. Same, it isn't working either. I've been waiting for months to buy native (I had a use for it, but refused to buy until they added snapshots), would be great to spend my weekend on it :) I hope we get an answer soon as to why the coupon doesn't work
  4. I guess many people like their guitar cab ("amp in the roomn feel) but still want the reliability of the RI to PA? In my case it is mostly because I also have other guitar amps that I wouldn't be able to plug straight into a powered wedge And a good powered wedge for my bass is way too expensive (apparently most can't deliver the power and big low end required)
  5. This. Effects/amps > fx send block (to poweramp) > cab sim > xlr out (to PA) Until the helix gets an update that let us put the outputs and inputs where we want them on the signal path (anyone knows if they have plan to do so?). I don't understand that they haven't implemented such a vital function for live playing. Right now the 1/4 out is basically wasted if you need to have the cab sim on the xlr only
  6. Yep, and your band configuration. I probably wouldn't notice the change if I was the lead player in a 5man band. As the sole rhythm player in my 3man band, the switching is VERY noticeable. I never measured the duration of the gap, but I found it distracting, especially when I let a clean chord ring out before hitting a high gain one (or the opposite). It completely breaks the "momentum" of the song, imo to a point that it makes the preset change unusable. I remember reading that the duration of the switching depends on the dsp usage of your patch, so everyone might have a difference experience. I love my Helix and the sounds I can get out of it, but you have to be aware of it's hardware limitations, especially if you want to build complex presets. I'm probably spending just as much time finding workarounds on dsp limitation than actually building sounds Otoh, I don't have that problem when playing bass, where I use way more basic patches.
  7. Are you usine xlr or 1/4 output? I get statics on the xlr output when using a cable with a metallic ending. Xlr sockets are a bit loose and I guess the cable touches parts it shouldn't (not sure if it's coming from my unit or all unit have that)
  8. The kemper detuner is really impressive, which means it could be done with the helix too. Last weekend we actually on purpose tuned my friends guitar higher and used the kemper detuner to bring the sound back to a regular tuning. We almost couldn't tell the difference The helix shifter is hardly usable imo, only works for dual voiced leads. The nanopog is one of the only external pedal i can't sell ;)
  9. I love that amp both for clean and high gain, but I can't seem to make it work inside a preset. The volume difference is huge (ch volume has to be at around 10 for clean and 4 for high gain) that it does a kind of "pop" sound when switching between snapshots Has anyone found a workaround?
  10. well, bought their "Metal IR pack with presets" and it's a disapointment. You actually only get one preset as a helix user (and a VERY basic one at that), the other ones are for axe/amplifire/etc. The IRs come with no name or explanation at all, no way to know which mic/cab/speaker I am using.
  11. Since a few IR/preset websites are having black friday sales, I thought we could all put them in one topic. Celestionplus: https://www.celestionplus.com/news/dont-miss-black-friday-weekend-offers-celestionplus/ Live ready sound : https://livereadysound.com/presets-and-bundles/ Use DAI as coupon to get a 40% off
  12. Nice, thank you. Any experience on their IR? Some cabs you would recommend?
  13. Helix probably isn't the right tool for you then, it's one of the most time consuming (kemper, axefx, real amps are all faster to setup). I agree line6 should add a downgrade option. I belive AxeFX lets you select the firmware version of the amp, that's a must imo. And line6 did add some really different and new tools in that update, next to the "not so new" amps. the double tracker, space echo, goatkeeper, line6 fuzz are sound shapping/innovative effects
  14. Maybe have a look at the elektrik amp, somehow sounds closer to a SS amp to me, you may be able to get a sound you like out of it
  15. Great idea, and the result seems good enough (or like you said, usable). I will try it, and probably use it for the signal that goes only to my IEM, to save some DSP power. It also opens up the possibility of dual-cab without using too much dsp i need to try it on my bass too :)
  16. Great sounds, makes me want to buy all those IRs ;) Why do you want to make a tutorial instead of just sharing the files on customtones? It takes a lot of time and most people will just jump to the results at the end of the video anyway :O
  17. ^ looper needs to be in the loop if you use headphones or xlr to PA, otherwise the loop will only be heard in the guitar/FRFRI cab. I wouldn't call that a "minor advantage" ;)
  18. Digitech jamman stereo, the helix looper is way too limited (no separate click track, no time-adjusting cannot store loops) Nano pog. I got some good result with the built-in shifter (that is polyphonic since which update??!!?), but it takes a lot of dsp and I need that power since I usually run 2-3 amps + multiple cabs at the same time Everything else, I could sell, but I'll probably keep half of my rig as a home-rig and back-up
  19. Tbh axe/kemper DO sound better in the vast majority of videos, especially when you listen with headphones. Combine that with the old "spider" reputation of line 6, and I get why there are many people doubting the helix's capacity. Trolling/hating is stupid but you can't avoid it on the net. I was disappointed with most of what I heard from demos, and if it wasn't for the free native trial, I would have never bought the helix.
  20. Hi guys. I’m seriously thinking about buying a helix lt. I’m leaning towards the helix rather than the ax8 mostly because I like the dual amp possibility (the price of the ax8 in europe also made me choke). But I still have a few concerns Mostly, I need a very specific signal routing and I’m not sure the helix can achieve it. Right now I’m using a gt 100 in 4CM with an amp, a pog into a bass amp and a digitech stereo looper. I want to go full digital on the guitar part of the signal. The signal would be as follow : 1. Dual amp signal without cab sim => L ¼ jack out (into my poweramp+Gcab) 2. unaltered clean signal => R /14 jack out (into my pog>bass amp). I have to be able to mute/unmute that signal by the press of a switch. 3. Dual amp signal (same as 1.) with cab sim on => L xlr out (to PA) 4. Dual amp signal (same as 1.) with cab sim on => headphone out (to IEM) / I don’t want the signal 2. (clean) in the headphone output. The looper will be in the effect loop, that has to be after the cab sim section (L effect out containing signal 1/3/4 and R effect out containing signal 2). This seemed easy to achieve on the helix lt, until I discovered that having two amps on one path could "overload" the DSP chip. Now, I’m not sure anymore if the helix can handle this signal routing. What do you think ? Also I aw a few times that the new software improved the high gain sounds a lot and that the digital artifacts that you could sometimes hear are mostly gone, is it true for all high gain amps ? Problem with most helix videos is that they are either on the old software or a full mix with post-eq, where you can’t tell the quality of the sound either way. I’ll try the helix in a shop before buying it, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to tell in 30min what sound I can really get out of it.
