  1. Very cool to hear someone's into the Isley Brothers. According to Ernie himself in a 1981 interview for "That Lady", he used his Strat going into a Fender Twin, a Big Muff and a Maestro PS-1A phase pedal. There was a wah used on the clean rhythm track but not on the lead. The curious thing is even though you can find a guitar breakdown/lesson on almost every guitar oriented song ever written on YouTube I've never been able to find the "That Lady" solo done in that way.
  2. Sorry this will be of no help other than to mention that I use Reaper on Windows 10 and Helix 3.5 works just fine for me. I am on Reaper 5.99 though.
  3. I've used Native in Reaper for a couple of years and have no problems to report. As coincidence would have it, I'm starting to log my VSTs with regard to load time and CPU usage in Reaper. On my modest system, Windows 10, Intel Core i5 3470 12GB Ram, Native takes 11 seconds to load and much less than half that to close. By comparison my Arturia synth VSTs take 11-13 seconds to load. My Waves plugins take 5-15 seconds to load depending on the plugin and my Arturia FX collection plugs take 5-10 seconds. Maybe I'm easily sated but I don't find any of these times "deplorable". As an aside I'd like to thank Datacommando for all of the responses and help he's given users over the years. It's appreciated.
  4. Craig, I applaud you for getting this update out so quickly. Sweetwater however a chorus of boos is due you. Your big company that pesters me incessantly with email ads knew that this e-book would have updates but you're as yet not equipped to accommodate the users seeking the updates they are entitled to. Boo, hiss Sweetwater.
  5. Want you to know your work and contribution is much appreciated.

    Helix 3.15

Actually, DI is being as coy as ever. He said they MIGHT split in into two phases. At first he said it would be called 3.15, then he later said no, it would still be 3.2. The new products are unknown except that he said they would not be related to or interface to Helix devices "in any meaningful way". He also said the term "intellectual property" may be too strong of a term. Careful not to project other TGPers speculations and interpretations as the gospel according to DI. As for guessing new features the standard approach is "they'll include all the things I personally want", so I personally will not go there.
  7. Yes, this! I've done the watch a video, download the actual manual thing but I shouldn't have to. They all give you a user's manual, but....separately Boss gives you a 50+ page parameter guide and Fractal gives you an even bigger, dare I say, exhaustive 70+ page block parameter guide. Helix? Zippo!. This should not be the case., but in lieu of Line6 coming through for us, I'm willing to pay for someone else's EBook giving me this essential information in one volume. Thank you Craig.
  8. Thank you very much for this. I wish we had more favorite settings from folks who have actually owned the amps. I've dialed in the Helix amps to my liking but someone who knows them well can show me (us) settings we might not have thought of as you just did here.
  9. If I recall, two predecessors of the Polara, the Digitech Hardwire RV7 and the Hardwire Supernatural Ambient Reverb pedals also have Lexicon algos. A couple of years ago they could be had used for $100 or less on Reverb.com but now they go for $175-220+. The Polara used to go for $70-85 but now it's typically $120-150+.
  10. Maybe I'm reading you wrong but why would you want an MIAB pedal model when you've got the actual amp (JTM45, Plexi, etc) in a (Helix) box. Just crank up the gain and you're off.
  11. One would have to be very gullible to believe that. Perhaps it's just not in a Canadian dictionary? ;)
  12. Thanks for the reply. That was what I assumed. My interface is 1M impedance. So for the other part of my question, with that in mind, do the low impedance fuzzes perform less than optimally in Native? That would explain why I've never particularly liked them.
  13. How does Native handle lower impedance blocks like some of the fuzzes? Do they all go in at 1M? If so, do they suffer from the same problems as fuzzes on the hardware (in my case LT) when you have the global impedance set to 1M?
  14. These are great! Thanks for sharing the hlx files.
  15. Ah, pedals! When I got my Helix LT about two years ago I had about 50 pedals. I felt this unit made some of my pedals expendable due to duplication (OCD, DS-1, ProCo Rat, etc), better amp sounds (my Tech21/Joyo/Mooer pre-amp pedals) and ones I just felt I didn't need anymore like all of the Digitech Hardwire series that I had. I ended up selling over twenty pedals. However, I've also added about 15 new pedals to my assortment. These mostly covered areas that the Helix does not like the EHX SuperEgo Plus, Hologram Infinite Jets, EQD Arpanoid and some non-traditional reverbs such as the Walrus Audio Slo, Old Blood Noise Dark Star ,EQD Transmisser and EQD Afterneath. Also, since I don't think too much of Helix's fuzzes I got the Way Huge Havalina and then there were two pedals I couldn't resist from JHS analog pedals (despite the creepy rumors about the owner), the Muffleta which gives you 6 different Big Muff variations and the Bonsai which provides 9 different Tube Screamer variations. I'm trying to now keep it to no new pedals unless I sell one (or two) first. We'll see how that works.
  16. It went well, except when it didn't. This was my third firmware update. Did 2.5, 2.6 and 2.81. Yes, I read instructions. Each time I update I see the error message "Update failed. Please reboot and try again". So I reboot and try again and by the 5th or 6th try (without changing anything I did), it succeeds. 2.81 completed on my 5th try. This time I tried my back of the computer USB ports but that didn't make any difference. Overall, I'm good with the process, it just always has me holding my breath! My 2.81 version seems ok and I can see the new amp models and connect with HX Edit 2.81. One thing though, I never did see the error message that we were supposed to ignore "Boot failure. Entered update mode". Any cause for concern?
  17. Thank you. I was about to say the same thing only not quite as civilly as you. Well put and it's high time this issue stops being trivialized and that's not political at all. I'm sure that wasn't the author's intent but it was a good thing for you to point out it's a real issue that's been plaguing society for centuries. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
  18. Since I got my Helix a bit over a year ago, I've sold most of my pedals that were duplicated in Helix (OCD, DS-1, Tube Screamer, etc). I still have about 40 pedals left and going forward I'm not sure how many more I'll part with but I am certain I will keep my EQ Devices Afterneath, Transmisser and The Depths along with Digitech Freq, EHX SuperEgo Plus, Big Muff Deluxe and Pigtronix Philosopher King, Disnortion Micro and Smiletone Governor's Blues.
  19. " Figured it out in Reaper for the snapshot change. It's not perfect, but it'll do. Also figured out other automations as well. " For those of us who haven't figured out how to automate snapshot changes in Reaper, it would be greatly appreciated if you listed it here.
  20. This topic is always entertaining. In one camp you've got the "I want my update and I want it now and it better have all of the things I asked for! You promised. " and then the other extreme, "How dare you presume to demand anything of a Line6. You should be thankful they provide updates. In fact, you should be thankful they even allow you to buy a Helix. Now go Fractal yourself!" Priceless.
  21. I'm in it for the amps mostly and I'm a Fender guy at heart. I'd like to see a Princeton Reverb (Blackface or Silverface), something from the Rivera era like the Concert or Super Champ, the Blues Jr. and maybe something from Fender that is less "Fendery" like the Sonic 22. Also, because there is life beyond Fender, the Suhr Badger and a Rivera amp would be nice.
