  1. It just slides in. It requires a significant push. Make sure it's going in the correct way.
  2. I got mine last August and it too was made in 2012. It's not uncommon to do "production runs" and then shut down if the inventory is too high. I suspect this may be the case for the JTV guitars. Mine does have the newer bridge though and I am completely satisfied with it.
  3. Maybe they don't make them but Line6 owns the QC of everything that goes into their product. It's a risk to use custom parts like switches and such. They are not as simple as they may seem. For example, switch contacts must be designed for the actual voltages and currents that are switched. Low voltage / low current contacts are very difficult because they can build up oxides and become flaky. It's not enough to stay below max voltage / current.
  4. I really wonder how new the new ones they are selling now are. I suspect that the JTV volumes are not all that high and they may have built up an inventory of them.
  5. I would wait then. This forum isn't going to help you channel to Line6. This is a users forum.
  6. No I'm not. I don't use any apple products right now. I'm a PC guy.
  7. Anything is possible but It would be way more trouble than it's worth.
  8. I do it all the time. I use a program called Transcribe. You can adjust the pitch in cents to get it spot on your guitar's tuning. It also has tempo adjust to slow down without changing pitch. On top of that it will tell you what notes are being played.
  9. I got my VDI cable from Best-tronics also and it is very well made and much like a standard guitar cable in flexibility. I would recommend getting a good VDI cable rather then using the one that comes with the JTV.
  10. I frankly would not pay much for a used Variax - especially a 300. Once off warrantee you are looking at a big repair bill if it craps out on you. I would have recommended that you go for a new JTV rather than a used 300.
  11. My 69S came fairly well setup from Sweetwater. I had to adjust a couple of the saddle heights and the intonation was off a bit but the neck relief and string height at the nut were fine. Of all setup parameters I think the bridge adjustments on a Strat like bridge are the easiest to make. I spent about an hour on mine when I first got it. The low E was off the most.
  12. You of course cannot connect a pod directly to a 4x12 cab. It does not contain a power amp. It cannot drive speakers.
  13. You should not need to use Line going into the front of your amp. The signal is too big and it will overload your preamp. The input on your amp is expecting Instrument (Guitar) levels. You can use any of the output modes based on what sounds best to you but don't use Line Levels.
  14. If you are into the HD500 you have an "AMP" involved if you are using a patch with an amp. Try using your JTV into an amp without the 500 or turn off the amp and fx modeling in the 500 patch so that you are hearing the JTV unmodified.
  15. Also make sure that your E string is the correct one. If you somehow got a B string it would be way off. There is no way you should have to make a half step adjustment when changing from 10's to 9's. I would have expected only a couple turns of the adjustment screw at most.
  16. Line 6 even includes the tools to do adjustments (truss rod and saddles). I don't see how doing those standard adjustments correctly can void the warrantee. I will take the risk and make adjustments to my guitars because I trust my abilities to do them at least as good as most guitar techs. I am not recommending that everyone do these things themselves. If you don't know what you are doing you should get someone who does to do it. I know my limitations and I stay within them unless I am willing to risk the consequences.
  17. I would start directly into your amp (or with the 500 using no amp) with the JTV. It should sound very good on all models. If it doesn't there is something very wrong. Mine sounds as good as my other guitars that way. (Better than most) It should also sound very good with the Mag pickups.
  18. That does not make sense. Yes you should have to move the piezo saddle but you should not have to move it that much going from 10's to 9's.
  19. Or learn to do the setup yourself! I do all of my own setups. That way I get what I want. I also change my own oil. :-) If you are into guitars and you are reasonably handy it's not hard to learn how to do a setup. There are some very good guides out there. I bought a couple good books that went into great detail on how to set up your electric guitar. I only had to make some minor setup tweaks to my JTV69S when I received it and now it plays great. For me, this is part of the guitar experience.
  20. This thing is a learning experience. I suggest that you download a bunch of tones from Custom Tone and experiment with them. That's easier than starting from scratch and there are some good ones there. The ones that come preloaded are not so hot. (They Suck actually) Then start making your own by modifying some that are close to what you want. This is only one piece of your overall sound so you need to adapt it to sound good with your other equipment. (Guitar, Amp, etc)
  21. Right in the front it tells you about the Output Modes.
  22. Any of the pods with the VDI connection will power your Variax. Do yourself a favor and buy a good VDI cable.
  23. There has always been some noise generated when WB communicates with the Variax. When you move knobs, the change is sent to WB. Sounds like a clicking noise.
  24. All you have to do is ask them and they will do it. I was worried about the process because several folks were having trouble so I wanted it done for me in case it went to SH$T. Would save me the trouble of sending it back. They emailed me the pix of my guitar and they followed up to see that I was happy with it. This is what I call great online service.
