  1. The HD500 tones work perfectly fine on the 500x. There are tons of them.
  2. If you use one cable you get mono anyway. Use one of the 1/4 inch outputs and you get both left and right combined.
  3. Obviously, Line6 had to make a tradeoff and they picked the IOS market to target first. They will support other platforms eventually I'm sure.
  4. You should be able to do this but you may have some trouble balancing the gains without using the volume pots on the guitars. VDI for Variax, Guitar for ES335 and Aux for lap steel should work.
  5. Heavy guitars usually sound great. My 69S isn't any heavier than my Strat though.
  6. Try a different guitar cable. IT should be quieter with battery than with power supply.
  7. Nope. It should be dead quiet - with the modeling. You will get noise pickup with the mags just like you would with any mag pickup guitar. Single coils are worse. You don't say which you have. Mine is great with battery. I use battery when I use my tube amps without the 500x. I use the VDI cable when I use the 500x. The VDI is the way to go when using the Pod anyway.
  8. I think it will be fine the way you have it if you have the bushing tight. It will be a chore to extract that screw unless some of it is sticking out enough to grab with a set of pliers.
  9. This is a USER forum not a Line6 company forum. You need to contact Line6 directly if you want them to answer your questions.
  10. If there is room, keep the wires as long as possible in case you screw up. You can solder the ground wires wherever there is a good ground point. Sounds like you are almost done! You will like the results. My 500 still sounds great but I have moved on to the JTV which I like better.
  11. Use the battery. It works better anyway. Get a second battery for backup. That's cheaper than this unit will be. Unless you find a used one you are going to pay at least $100 for that power supply.
  12. Right you are! I forgot about that feature since I have not used it.
  13. I checked yesterday and there is no new FW release for the 500x listed in the downloads.
  14. I don't believe that the JTV has the electronic ability to mix the Mags and the modeling out the 1/4 inch jack. The VDI interface has two paths for that but the 1/4 inch is either or. I am not sure they can fix this in FW.
  15. You can build up enough - it happens with my conventional guitars. It must be something like this because it doesn't happen when I play with a pick.
  16. I guess the 500x did not have the problem since this update is only for the 500.
  17. That sounds like static discharge to me. My Strat does that in dry climates. It helps to keep your fingers grounded somewhere but I had lots of trouble with that on my Strat. The static discharge to the strings from your finger gets picked up by the electronics.
  18. You need a supply that has the same specs. 9V DC and the proper current rating. I can't remember if it's 2 or 3 amps.
  19. Works fine on my JTV69S. Sweetwater installed 2.0 before shipping the guitar to me at my request.
  20. Any chance you could post a PDF of this? I had trouble making a nice copy to print out.
  21. I would think you just select one of them and modify it.
  22. Yes - my 500 has a flex circuit below the bridge that plugs into a flex connector in the main board. I have not seen the board on the 300 but if it's a board it may be easier to deal with than my flex circuit was. I had to enlarge the hole in the flex for each Piezo wire since the two wires had to go through it. There was very little room to work with on the 500 Flex.
  23. When I did my 500 a year ago I did not find any install instructions. I removed the bridge, removed the old saddles, installed the new ones one at a time and soldered the wires to the flex under the bridge. Don't know if the 300 flex looks the same or not. Tricky part was prepping each wire - they are small and not that easy to work with. You also have to connect the 6 ground wires to the flex ground - and there were no such connections with the old saddles. I scraped away the covering over the ground run on the flex and soldered them there. Maybe somebody who has done a 300 can pipe up and say if they did anything differently than that. It took me a couple hours of very careful work because one slip and you are going to be ordering another saddle.
