That is because you don't have to know your A$$ from a hole in the ground to reply on a forum. Anyone that has been around tube amps knows that you can put a smaller impedance load on them without damage but that you can kill the Output transformer by running with no speaker load. (open circuit) Solid state amps it depends on the circuit. Most will run with a higher impedance load with no problems but I am not sure what Line 6's Digital amps are going to do with a different load than what they were designed for. Bottom line is that you are on your own to try a different impedance speaker.

Not quite sure what you mean by "Unbalanced". The 1/4 jacks are all "Unbalanced" single ended mono inputs. The MP3 input is the only stereo input I believe and it does not go through the modeling. Stereo and Unbalanced are two different things. I think you mean Stereo. You could always externally mix the L and R inputs before going into the Pod if you want to use the Aux input for your piano.

Remember that these are digital solid state amps not tube amps! I would be careful about changing the speaker impedance too much. Higher is probably ok - you will lose power output but lower could damage the amplifiers.

Variax 700 Acoustic Mode Selector Problem
Charlie_Watt replied to Breenbear's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
No but on that guitar I think there is still a way to reset it to factory settings. Remember that these things have not been made for many years and it may be hard to find parts for them. -
I don't see the USB port as proof of anything other than they put in some hardware that they eventually plan to write code to support. If that's proof then I am missing something. My Take on this and it's not based on facts is that Line6 had to make some choices of what platforms to support when they introduced this new product. If it were me I would pick Apple too based on how well they handle apps. I do hope they continue to expand the range of support to include PC and Android. I will wait to buy until they support PC since I never intend to have any Android products.

I use one big power strip to switch everything in my home setup so I wouldn't turn the switch off if it had one.

The footswitch upgrade is a very good thing as well. Not sure I would go from 500 to 500x but I'm sure glad I have the better footswitches.

Open systems will always be easier to hack.

Car makers come out with a new model every year. That doesn't mean that we have to buy a new car every year. No difference here. If they don't introduce a feature that you absolutely need to have then your current (not obsolete but out of production) model is fine and you can save your $$ until they do come out with something worth upgrading to.

On my computer I had to go into the manager and make my H500x my output device. It was not by default. Stuff still played out of my laptop speakers until I did that. (Windows XP)

Most companies would kill for Apple's marketing skills. They make you want their products while at the same time they charge a premium for the privilege of owning them. I broke down and got an I-phone last summer and the apps are great.

Jtv Pickups Wire Colors

I doubt that they will give you wiring diagrams either. -
Now if we could just find a cheaper alternative battery that works in the JTV.... I would like a spare.

I am sure that Line6 spent much time researching this product and they decided that it did make economic sense or they would not have introduced it. They know more about this than we do.

Variax 300 Mucho Low End-is
Charlie_Watt replied to davec69's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I did what you did. Lowered each string volume. Not sure there is any "overall volume" on the old variax. -
Just because a company comes out with an upgraded or new product doesn't mean the old ones are obsolete. Yes you might want the new one but the old one will still do the job it did when they introduced it.

Good Job. -
You will have to use one of them with the 1/4 inch guitar input. Can't have two VDI connections.

No difference in sound with batteries vs the power supply as long as you don't have a ground loop. I prefer batteries because there is no chance of a ground loop. You may want to try turning the string volumes down to about 50% with the Graphtech saddles. My 500 sounded much better after I did that. The output levels were too high before I did that. -
For What It's Worth: Ipad 4 Is Back, Now $399
Charlie_Watt replied to ColonelForbin's topic in AMPLIFi
I think that is a good idea. Newer products will be supported longer and this makes it worth more $$ IMO.
