  1. It's not string volumes if you hear it with the mags. It's mechanical!
  2. Make sure you don't have your output set to line level. It needs to be set to instrument level if you are going into the front of an amp. It should sound great with your amp!
  3. When I search for these things on my guitars (yes most guitars have some unwanted resonances) I play them unamplified and listen carefully around the bridge and nut. A bad nut can cause bad sounding open strings. Anything loose anywhere can vibrate and give unwanted sounds. A JTV has more stuff that can vibrate. Some folks have had problems with the model knob on the 69. The only unwanted vibration I could find on mine was the strings above the nut. I have foam there to damp that. My G&L has a resonance on the G string that I have not been able to completely cure. It's a hard tail but there is some sort of rattle going on when I play an open G. One difference with a Variax is that the piezos will pick up any vibrations in the body where as a mag pickup only picks up string vibration.
  4. It should not have this problem. My JTV69S sure doesn't. I have not heard of any similar complaints here either.
  5. I am using the EV ZLX12p and I really like the sounds I am getting from it. I have the volume fairly low in my music room and it's very clean.
  6. They seem fine to me but I don't intend to step on them.
  7. I can guarantee that Yamaha has had no influence on Line6 at this point. It takes time to get approval for the acquisition and until they have that they are not allowed to work together.
  8. They are all there. Go up to the top of this: http://line6.com/support/index.php
  9. Many home theater systems will have latency - because they are not designed not to. They are intended to reproduce recorded content where latency is not an issue.
  10. I got mine here: http://www.guitar-cable.com/index.aspx very much like a standard guitar cable in flexibility. They also sell very good quality guitar cables.
  11. The 500x has 20% more DSP horsepower and improved foot switches. I would go for the 500x due to the improved foot switches.
  12. My JTV 69S came with D'Addario EXL 110's. I like them and will continue to use them.
  13. You want a VDI cable with good end shells on it. There is a poster here that sells custom cables that folks like. The one from Line6 is stiff and not good at all. I got mine from Guitar Cable.com and it is a very well made cable. They make great braided guitar cables too.
  14. If you have not already get yourself a good quality VDI cable to use with your HD500. Glad you like your guitar! My 69S came with 2.0 on it too and I have not tried anything else. I really like the acoustic models.
  15. I think the volume difference in Lester vs Spank models is pretty close to the difference in my Les Paul and my Strat. I have a feeling that this is not the case with many JTV's since there are several complaints about that here. It's easy enough to adjust them if you want them all to be equal. I have not bothered to do that. I don't use WB very much because it still doesn't work with my HD500x. When it does, I will spend more time with WorkbenchHD.
  16. I am sure one can find a substitute 9VDC power supply. I personally would lengthen the cable if I wanted it longer. No big deal. If you substitute be VERY CAREFUL. Make sure the polarity is the same and that the supply is rated for at least 3 Amps. (Most are not) I also would stay away from a switching supply due to the possible injection of noise into the Audio.
  17. The pickups on a Les Paul have way more output than the single coils on a vintage Strat. The model faithfully reproduces this. If you don't want it that way either turn down the volume pot or go into Workbench and turn down the string volume for those models.
  18. There is an easy work around for the Workbench strat position 2 and 4 bug. It's been posted since August. You just have to swap pickups around in WB. No big deal. Once you do that the strat works correctly. I do wish they would fix that bug along with releasing drivers that mate WB to HD500. I leave my laptop connected to my HD50x and it would be very handy if I could run WB with that setup.
  19. I don't believe that the Atomic amps had enough headroom to properly handle the models either. You want an amp that will faithfully reproduce the modeled tones at high volume. This means lots of clean headroom as well as full range flat speaker system. Maybe Line6 has done this well?
  20. Yes they look the same as the ones I had on my 500. You can even see the flex circuit that it's soldered to in your first pic.
  21. 10% share isn't going to excite any manufacturer. (I'm talking 10% of what they could sell right handed) It's not that big a deal to convert a guitar to lefty. It is harder but can be done with a little work on a Variax.
  22. Make sure your Output Mode is same as before. Reloading FW will reset global settings.
  23. I like separate pod so it would not interest me. Plus I already have a pod500x and a Full Range PA Speaker to play it through.
