  1. Very good idea here! Having a VU meter is a big help trying to balance volume levels.
  2. You have it backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new power supply for the HD500 is DC! The old power supplies for most Line 6 Pods was AC. BIG Difference. Using the wrong one can damage your equipment.
  3. I can't think that it's any more difficult than the replacement I did on my Variax 500. It does require good soldering and cable prep skills and the right tools to do it but if they fit mechanically they will work. I am not sure that there is enough volume for JTV's to convince GraphTech to make a special kit to do this. My results were good on my 500 but one slip and you are going to have to buy another piezo.
  4. I use my Peterson Tuner too for Intonation. More precise than the one in my HD500x. I also have the Peterson App for my Iphone. It's not quite as good as the real thing but it's close.
  5. You can create a Drop D tuned model on the Variax and then select it with the HD.

Analog music is the best but it's too much of a PIA to deal with the only analog recorded medium I have available (LP). I have to live with 16 bit 48KHz sampled digital CD quality music and I do. Even with all of the new equipment recording quality these days is not that good for the most part. Maybe the problem is that the major music consumers these days don't care. I have built several vintage tube amps and they sound great but they lack the effects that I like to use with my Pod. I'm now fully Digital most of the time. JTV, Pod, Digital PA Speaker. Far from perfect but very flexible. I love my Line6 gear! Never had a problem with any of it.

Too many choices is very confusing to me. I try to deal with it and pick a few and stick with them. Then I can get back to focusing on playing and not on tweaking. One thing I like about the digital stuff is I can have all of my options in fewer devices - easier when I travel between living in Arizona (Winter) and Colorado (Summer). I can only carry so much stuff.
  8. You will have to try these things and see how they work out.
  9. The 59 and 69 are quite different physical guitars. I would expect subtle changes in the model outputs. Sustain will be different for sure. Resonances in the body are going to be different. I doubt very much that the FW models are any different between the two.
  10. If your laptop is plugged in (charger) you will have noise problems with ground loops. It might be fine if you are running on the battery but I know that my laptop won't run very long on the battery.

Digital is only going to keep getting better! I like tube amps too and have several but I really like my latest Rig with JTV, HD500x, EV ZLX-12P All digital.
  12. I found some very good patches in Customtone to get me started. I do not have much experience with EQ effects and I like very clean sounds. I found some very good ones for my Variax Acoustic models.
  13. I would rather add a mono effect to convert to mono and use the XLR connection than use the 1/4 inch which will be mono. XLR is a much lower noise connection because it's balanced. You set up your patches to convert the output to mono. My EV ZLX-12P has two XLR inputs so I just use two cables from the L and R. Doesn't look like the Yamaha gives you that option.
  14. Don't know why but I am glad he did. I have very small hands and the JTV69S neck fits me very well. Guitar necks are a personal preference.
  15. Which product are you selecting????? I have only used HD500 and HD500x lately and they are all still there.
  16. Sounds like your unit is defective. You will have to send it to be repaired.
  17. It works fine for me. You must be logged in to download tones. (and it doesn't tell you that)
  18. Those do look like they would work! Great find! Nice to know they are there. I hope somebody here tries them and reports the results here. I do not intend to do so.
  19. Not a trivial difference. I doubt that Graphtech would sell enough of them to make it worthwhile for them to design a part that would work in the JTV69 Trem bridge.
  20. I have not seen one post where anyone replaced the pickups on a JTV69 or 69S. The Ghost pickups will not work directly. The strings would be shifted over too much. If you have seen such a post I would love to have a pointer to it. (Not that I plan to change the Piezo's on my 69S) I did change the pickups on my old Variax 500 to the ones you pointed to. They work great! If they were compatible with the JTV 69 bridge I would consider them.
  21. Those will not work for a JTV69. The bridge is custom and not like a Strat bridge. The Ghost pickups will not work here.
  22. There will be no "Fixes" for the X3. It should not need a "Fix" anyway. If it doesn't behave correctly after a reflash it's broken.
  23. That doesn't say if it is JTV or old model. Looks like old model to me. The JTV uses different piezos.
  24. In case you hadn't noticed, this post was over 4 months old with no updates.
