+1 to duncann... far easier to dirty up a nice clean amp than to clean up a nice dirty one...

Yes you can. the Aux in is stereo (TRS) or you can go into the Tape In jacks, you don't have to use the Slave inputs. I am still playing with it so haven't explored all options yet. Set up properly you should be able to go 5CM with midi and with different patches in the POD either go all POD into the power section or use the GMX internal amp/FX with midi control in combination with the POD. And still run backing tracks, drum tracks etc. for practicing, jamming, whatever. And this thing is loud...

I was looking for the same thing. I have a DT25 head and cabs and a power amp/PA speakers but wanted a single combo form factor stereo amp to make for an easy take out rig. I also didn't want to spend a small fortune for a pair of L series speakers or carry a pair of monitors. After a ton of research and looking I was very surprised where I ended up. I found a nice solid state 120 watt (60X2) stereo 2X12 amp with 2 channel analog amp modeling, digital effects, FX loop, multiple ins and outs for MP3/backing tracks, foot switch included, all for under $300 delivered. Its very solid, kinda heavy, huge heat sink and transformer and has decent reviews. Surprise, surprise... its a Behringer GMX212. I've been playing with it this week and so far it has exceeded expectations. I like the amp as a straight up unit on its own; the tones are surprisingly good and the effects are "OK". It would work as a backup. However, plugging the HD into the slave inputs disconnects the internal amp and effects and goes straight to the power amp. This is very usable. I was surprised to actually hear some details that were not coming through with my PA speakers and will have to do some tweaking but this works. Its an open back cab and my others with the DT are closed back so it offers another option for me there too. You can also connect multiple units together using the line outs and the slave in so its totally scalable. All this for just under $300... More than I expected and a pleasant surprise. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GMX212 PS - midi controllable from the POD too in a 4CM setup. Fender Champion is another option in same price range but does not have all the features. I was hoping the Blackstar ID260TVP would work but it is like a Spider, no connectivity for the POD and its $600...

Pedals not working with Spider III ?
radatats replied to DanVoss911's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Hey, I was just busting chops with my first post... Anyways, I don't think you will get much luck with the echo box into the front of the Spider, just the nature of the digital beast. As noted above, those effects should be after the amp model but without an FX loop you can't do that here. The Wah should be no issue first in line into the amp and the distortion will probably work best into the lower gain amp models without other FX in the pre section. May not play well with the higher gain models or if there are other FX to compete with. The internal delays were pretty nice on my older Spider. Not what you wanted to hear but probably as good as it will get with this rig. -

try putting in new batteries or maybe you have a bad cord. -
Its dead simple, just do everything in the POD. The POD communicates with the DT digitally over the L6 link so you just build your FX chain including the amp/pre model in the POD and everything just works. There are no extra cables to configure...

JTV69 new color?
radatats replied to barebone99's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I am not aware of any other blue other than the Lake Placid Blue but that one does seem darker. Could be the lighting... However, Google search does turn up a few hits for a US JTV in Blue Pearl over Black. It is not on the Line 6 web site so perhaps it was a discontinued color? http://line6.com/jtv-69-us/ http://line6.com/jtv-69 -
well I don't have one so I pulled up the manual and it appears there is no midi control correct? In that case, there is no way for the POD to switch your amp channels. Amp channel switching can really only be done by midi with the POD. I am surprised though at your setup. Most folks I know use the 4CM to allow them to use their amp's tone with POD effects or run the POD amp sims into the FX return bypassing the amp's pre section. From the sound of it, you are running the POD amp sims into the front of the Mesa and through the pre as well. Not saying it's wrong, just hadn't seen others doing it that way. Have you tried running the POD output straight into the Mesa FX return? You won't get the distortion on your cleans and your high gains can be tweaked as needed on their own...

I'd think long and hard before making that jump... seen plenty of gripes about BT dropping connections. I think performance wise, the HD is a far superior product. Amplifi has its niche but it won't outperform the POD... then again it depends on what you want to do. Just playing around at home it might be fine; gigging you are better off staying with the POD. For the record, Line 6 has never said there is an Android app in the future. That is strictly wishful thinking on the boards... They have reserved the USB port for future use so maybe a PC connection but nothing is certain.

I have been very happy with these Shure SRH440's. About $100 everywhere. Not high impedance but very transparent, clear and comfortable. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SRH440 -
cool! thanks...

OK so the first big issue is the guitar plugs into the POD, not the DT when connected with L6 link. Everything is done in the POD, the DT just provides the tubes and the power amp/speakers. Other than turning it on and setting the Master, you won't touch the DT again. All communication between the POD and the DT is through the L6 Link (XLR cable). The 3 screens you can see by pressing the View button are the chain of effects, the setup screen and a big block screen showing bank and patch number. When you are on the setup screen, use the round Nav button to the right of the screen to scroll left and right through the other setup pages. I know it's a pain but you do need to read the Advanced Guide and the L6 Connectivity Guide to get all this. If you don't have them, you can get them from the Manuals link on the Support page. It is worth a go to connect the POD by USB and use HD Edit for as much as possible. I hate that little screen on the POD.

Music Stores that carrie JTV Guitars
radatats replied to crossstudio's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
if that is the only thing holding you back, get over it. There are a number of outstanding online retailers, my preference is Sweetwater. They give great prices, 2 year warranties, free shipping, free setup on your guitar and have amazing customer service. I love my JTV69 and have no regrets on the decision to buy... -
Parametric EQ adjusts a range of frequencies around a center freq. The range of freq's is the "Q", it can be narrow or wide. The POD unfortunately uses percentages instead of freq's, not sure about the M9. Anyways, set the FREQ to the center of the range you want to adjust. 3.5K=90%. Use the Q to set the width of the range you want to adjust and use the LOWS, HIGHS to boost or cut on either side of the center freq. Hope that helps!

yes. do you really need additional boxes? There is so much capability there I have never found a need to add another box. I know some guys like to add specific distortion boxes but the ones we have combined with the wide range of amps and cabs can get you just about anything you want with a little creativity. Mix and match and don't worry about what is "supposed" to go together...

DT25 Edit - cab models - Do you leave them on or turn them off?
radatats replied to Lution777's topic in DT50 / DT25
so I have the DT25 head and my own cabs with Celestions and Emminence. Sometimes I use the cab sims and sometimes I don't. It doesn't really make a ton of difference as far as right or wrong. There is no right or wrong, only options. Experiment with different cabs and mic combinations. Try it with no cab or mic. Use your ears and listen to the differences and use what you like. It is a very flexible system totally designed to let you, the user, mix and match to create your own sound. Believe me, there are so many choices it can be daunting and you may spend a lot of time fiddling with it. Even so, it's all up to you.If you are happy with your own cab and speaker by all means, let 'er rip just the way she is with what ever amp and FX you want to use... Just to rehash an old dog, the internal preamps in the DT have cab and mic sims turned ON so if you are trying to match the DT in the POD, just use the default settings when you choose an amp/preamp.- 13 replies

You do realize this is a users forum right? This isn't a factory board, this is just other users like you trying to help each other out. It's not helpful for you to rant and rave just because you didn't figure everything out on the first go round. Personally I'd love to watch you smash all your stuff to pieces just for a good laugh but that's not what we are here for. Anyways, do what TheRealZap said for hook up but an XLR cable will work for L6 to L6. Once you are hooked up this way the POD will control everything in your amp. These are essentially 2 computers that need to talk to each other so you need to take your time with set up. I ALWAYS turn the POD on first and let it stabilize. Next turn the DT Power ON and WAIT. about 15 -20 seconds you will hear a few clicks and the lights around the topology/class switches will flick on and off and on and then another click and they will stabilize. Turn POD Master to 12 oclock and DT Master OFF. Now turn the DT from STBY to ON and bring the amp Master to about 9 oclock. Turn up your guitar volume and you should have sound! If there is still no sound, change patches in the POD and try again. Still no sound, check the input settings in the POD: hold down the View button, go to page 3 of the setup menu and verify that input 1 source is set for guitar or variax, whichever you are using, and set input 2 source to same for now. You can change that later if you want once you know everything is working right. If there is still no sound and everything you said earlier about other setups remains true, turn everything off, try a different XLR cable for your L6 link and go through it all again, following my startup instructions. If you do it this way every time you will have no issues. If, God forbid, there is still no sound, come back to us with details of what you have done and we will help you troubleshoot further. If you decide to go the sledgehammer route, please post the video here first as we get first dibs on the wreckage... lol...

yeah, HDX line is definitely not EOL. Unfortunately, the EQ will NOT be getting changed in the HDX line. They have said however, that they will not make that mistake in future offerings. I don't expect any changes that involve hardware to this line like different displays, phantom power or new tuner. Any changes will be strictly software so maybe we get some new amp or effect models at some point. Again though, I'm not holding my breath...

well it depends on what you want them for. If you just want them for practice then you can add a Zoom G1 for about 50 bucks and get 60+ rhythms to work with. You could put that in the FX loop or just run it into the CD/MP3 input to play along with. There is also a cool new pedal coming out called a BeatBuddy that looks promising for $300+. You could put that in line between your POD and your amp. I like to use EZDrummer2 on my computer. Much wider variety of beats and far better quality and can run as a standalone without loading your DAW.. I can just plug my laptop audio into the CD/MP3 input on the POD for a simple setup but it is not as easy to control as a pedal. I also use an online metronome the same way. If you have the skills you can program your POD to control your beats through a DAW like Ableton using midi and even use it for performance. Google it for more info... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/G1on http://mybeatbuddy.com/ http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EZdrum2
