just take two regular TS cables from the left and right 1/4 outs on the POD to the left and right effects loop return on the back of the Duoverb. A dummy jack is just a guitar jack not connected to anything. You could use a spare guitar cable but it might pick up some hum. I would get a spare 1/4 inch jack and plug that in by itself, not wired to anything. PS - interested in how this sounds once you get it running...

triode and pentode refers to the way the tubes operate. In simple terms its like a three stage (triode) tube vs a five stage (pentode) tube. pentode is more powerful than triode.

definitely use the duoverb as a power amp. I had a flextone and while it was nice there is no comparison to the amps and tones in the 500... Just do everything in the POD and use the duoverb as power amp and speaker cab as sliding_billy said...

There is no true bypass such as you are describing. A true bypass would allow the signal to flow straight from the input to the output without any DA conversion and that is not possible. The closest you will get is a blank patch but there will still be conversion to digital and back again which may impart some tonal changes. You will just have to play with EQ and setup options to get a blank patch as close to true bypass as possible. I really don't understand why you are seeing this big of an issue. I can run mine straight into the front of my tube amp and I have no tone suck to speak of and the levels are not way off either. It sounds more like a setup issue than an overall POD problem...

I want a left handed James Tyler Variax
radatats replied to dfdfan's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
WTF are you talking about? This is a user forum not a factory board so if you want our help you have to explain your problem... -
The configuration I posted above will work just fine with a JTV and VDI cable. Just set input 2 to Guitar+Variax and follow all the other steps. Alt tunings will work and the JTV can be programmed into the patch.

lets try something different. You must have saved all your patches to computer by now so reload them all to a different set list and in different positions. Then make sure you are in stomp mode using FS1-FS8 and double tapping to change patches. Now see if the problem remains with FS2.

It deals with how the DSP and MCU communicate, and although nothing's impossible, the amount of architecture rewriting (and subsequent testing) would preclude a lot of other cool stuff. ************************************* This is from Line 6 staff on another thread. It has also been stated that we will not see EQ in percent on any new gear in the future... Lets hope... http://line6.com/support/topic/8896-important-features-rarely-discussed/?p=61921

that is also correct. If you place a mono effect last in your chain the signal going to both the left and right outputs, XLR and 1/4, will be identical and mono. If you have a stereo effect last then separate left and right signals will go to the outputs. Additionally, the 1//4 outs will sum to mono if you only use one of them. If you use both they will maintain their stereo signals. The XLR's do not have that capability and always carry separate left and right signals.

you don't need a special plug. just plug a spare guitar cable in going to nothing. that prevents the 1/4's from summing to mono.

thanks, I learned something today! so if you want that mono signal, use a dummy jack on the other side...

considering they are both using 1X12 cabs? I don't have the Marshall but I can assure you the DT25 is a real tube amp as opposed to the Marshall solid state and the full 25 tube watts will surprise you against 100 SS watts... I run my DT25 head into a 2X12 and it is an ear bleeder... you should be very happy with a DT.

I don't get the tuning issue at all. Mine stays pretty rock solid all the time. Nothing like you describe and I play hard and bend hard. Use the Nut sauce. Maybe your additional setup wasn't so hot after all. Mine was right straight from Sweetwater... As for the switching, Keep your amp parameters the same between patches that need quick switching. Match topology, pentode/triode, and class A/AB. Easiest to do that in HD Edit. Then just as in real life, ask yourself honestly if you really need to switch patches within the song or can you manage your FX within the patch. Learn the Exp pedal. You can assign up to 50 separate parameters to each Exp pedal to morph between completely different settings and sounds within your patch, no delay. You can also assign parameters to your JTV controls like using the tone control to adjust the drive and volume on your amp. Don't give up so fast... this does more than you can believe in the beginning...

if you are willing to be creative it can be done. You effectively need two FX loops so we have to improvise one. The improvised loop will be for your pre effects and the POD FX loop will be for post effects. First, create a dual amp path to have separate inputs, set input 2 to Guitar and input 1 to Aux, keep mixer hard panned left and right. Here is where we get creative. Guitar signal comes in on input 2 and into any FX on channel B, no amp block (bypass volume to 100) and out the right 1/4 out to the input of your stomp box then back in to the POD Aux input. The signal now is on channel A so you can add more FX as desired then into your amp block. Keep your post FX in channel A and before the mixer. Place your FX Loop block where you want it, also in channel A before the mixer and feed your other stomps. The mixer must be the last thing in the chain. Now feed the left 1/4 out to your PA / Power amp and you are in business. So the improvised loop is out channel B and back in to Channel A. Keep the two channels completely separate. You can use the ch B mixer level for signal adjustment to your first stomp and the FX Loop adjustments for your others. Let me know how this works!

you should check out the e-bow too, it is pretty awesome... http://www.ebow.com/home.php

Wow, interesting. I have always heard it was only the left that sums but I don't see anything in the manuals. I am not at home this week so I can't test it. Maybe you can confirm?

+1 to pfsmith0. Exactly right... or switch to just the right 1/4 out. Only the left sums to mono...

I don't know what a "field"is, but as others have suggested you can set up different patches with combinations of effects. However, you are out of luck on the amp switching. Your amp does not support midi control and requires a special connector. You will have to change channels with the amp's footswitch and also change patches with the 500X. From the manual: Plug in the TourmasterTM footpedal controller using the special supplied 8-pin DIN cable. Note: A standard MIDI cable will not properly function with the pedal.

Absolutely right. However, it sounded like the OP did not usually use the XLR so rather than rework all his patches I just suggested how best to setup this time. If you intend to always use the XLR and never want a stereo setup then your approach or placing a mono effect last in the chain works great.
-
the left XLR does not sum to mono like the left 1/4 out. Each XLR sends only its respective half of the stereo signal. You should either use 2 XLR cables into a stereo channel on the mixer or take two mixer channels. You can modify your patches to be mono but that is a pain IMHO. Other than that you should be fine with a good sound guy on the board.

nice job bro... however, every file ends in .l6t instead of the appropriate tail. Do you have a batch converter?

Actually there are a few guys using their POD HD thru the AMPLIFi but they take the POD stereo out into the 1/8 aux input on the back of the AMPLIFi. I would not run it into the guitar input, that just won't work well.
