  1. correct. hook up HD Edit and watch the amp module while you play and move the volume pedal. The channel volume will not move. Go to the FX module and you can watch the volume pedal move. They are separate and independent.
  2. I could see easier to edit but not sounds better... same effects, better processing in the 500... strange...
  3. Sweetwater has new ones. Still, I don't see the value in the M9, it should be at least $200 cheaper. Maybe $199... BUT, has anyone seen the new multi-effects pedal from Fractal? Could be the M13 killer... 8 effects simultaneous, built for 4cm, midi capable, does amp switching... No amp modeling... just have to see a price... http://forum.fractalaudio.com/axe-fx-ii-discussion/86923-coming-soon.html (checkout the clipping indicators!) While we are at it, why would anyone pay $499 for a M13 when you can get a 500X for $499 that does everything the M13 does and so much more? Even if you don't use the amp models? Either way I am not going Fractal at this stage of the game... in too deep with Line 6 and no real complaints...
  4. can you post a patch using your setup to Customtone? I am not understanding the Pan placement... Here is one with my original idea (FS1 turns acoustic ON/OFF, FS5 turns electric ON/OFF): http://line6.com/customtone/tone/388006/ And one using your idea without the Pan (FS1 turns acoustic ON/OFF, FS5 turns electric ON/OFF): http://line6.com/customtone/tone/388007/
  5. thanks for sharing your experience. Judging from all the previous talk you would have expected the earth to move with new IR's but apparently the Line 6 cabs aren't so bad after all...
  6. connect the unbalanced left and right outputs of the POD to the FX return of the Flextone III. Set the POD to Line and Studio and you should be good to go. Use both the POD master and the Flextone master to control volume.
  7. After playing around with this some more I found using both the DT and the FOH feed is better when you send the DT signal straight from the amp block rather than from the mixer. You can't use any post effects on it but you can set reverb in the DT if you want it. I was able to get a nice acoustic tone through my PA with the electric from the DT. In the Mixer tab towards the bottom in the L6 LINK section select AMP 1 AUDIO to Amp Model A. It now picks the signal right from the amp block output and sends it straight to the DT. Now I can keep channel A muted in the mixer with channel B centered and not get any electric bleedover. I set Input 1 to Variax Mags and input 2 to Variax with an acoustic model. Always new things to learn!
  8. If I understand right, you want one patch to go to the DT25 only, no FOH, and the other patch to go FOH only, no DT25. I don't know of a way to disable the XLR or 1/4 outs but you can accomlish this within your patch. Basically you will run in mono to the DT and the FOH. Put the mixer block as the LAST block in the chain and run all post effects between the amp block and the mixer. Keep DT signal path in channel A and mute channel B in the mixer, pan to center. Keep FOH signal path in channel B and mute channel A in the mixer, pan to center. FOH connected to right XLR-1/4 out. DT connected with L6 link, keep Channel B volume on DT at Zero. Now you will be able to have two separate feeds, one to the DT and the other to FOH selectable by patch. You can also have two different tones out at the same time this way (if you don't run out of DSP) by keeping the paths separate, unmuting the mixer and panning hard left and right. Put one tone set in Channel A and a different tone set in Channel B.
  9. normally you would put effects like wah, compression, and distortion in front of the FX block or amp model and mods, delays and reverbs after the FX block or amp model... There is no absolute right or wrong here, see what works best for you.
  10. Won't hurt anything. Yeah we beat the hell out of this topic a while back and basically they both do the same thing. I don't think it matters either way. If you think about it, before the firmware update, the POD was on full blast all the time and you had to use the DT Master to adjust so I don't think the sound guy really knows what he is talking about...
  11. No you have it backwards. With the standard 4CM the signal travels from your guitar to the POD, then from the POD FX Send to the Amp pre section, then from the Amp's FX Send back into the POD FX Return, then from the POD outs to the Amp FX Return. If you want the tone to go through the Amp pre section you must turn the POD FX loop ON. If you want the tone to use the POD amp models, turn the POD FX loop OFF.
  12. I love Tremonti and Volbeat tones but in the end I always come back to Alex Lifeson's live tone. That blend of saturated crunch with a touch of chorus and delay just does it for me. I could also kill for Richie Kotzen's tone from the Winery Dogs. Still haven't been able to get that one down with my POD but fairly close...
  13. That doesn't make sense. Have you done a complete system reset on the POD? If that doesn't help then I suggest you start a support ticket. Can you post one of your troublesome patches to Customtone for use to check out? There may be something we are overlooking...
  14. If you are using a JTV and do not want it controlled by the patch, set the VDI INPUT in the VARIAX block on the MIXERS tab to anything other than Tyler Variax.
  15. Those patches do not have an amp model assigned so they won't work with the DT. They are for FRFR setups...
  16. There are two issues here. First, if you want to control whether the patch uses the mags or the models you must set the input to Variax or Variax Mags. If you want to be able to use both in the patch, select Variax. If you ONLY want to use the mags select Variax Mags. Second, If you want the patch to control the model for your JTV, then you must select Tyler Variax and the desired model on the MIXER tab in HD Edit. If you want to also force a specific alternate tuning you must select Custom in the VARIAX TUNING block and set it up too. If you just want to use the standard tuning for your selected model then select Don't Force. Note - You can set up a patch to use both Mags and Models by setting the inputs to Variax on 1 and Variax Mags on 2 (or vice versa). Keep the model turned ON on your JTV, the Mags input will only allow the mags to come through but your model will be on the Variax channel. If you turn off the model on your JTV the mags will come through on both channels. The options are endless with this beast... I would like to control my JTV for some presets on the HD500x. But although I have chosen "Don't force" for other presets they still store if the mags or the model should be used! But actually this is not what I want! I would like to have presets which change the JTV settings and others which really change nothing on the JTV. Have already someone solve this problem or are you all fine with this behavior?
  17. One thing I like to do with my wah is link both the position and the mix to the expression pedal. I set position to whatever (0-100, 5-85) and then set the mix to 21-(62-72). I set the wah to a FS, usualy FS8 to turn on and off. With it set like this I don't get too harsh of a tone and when it is on it is like a Bad Horsie, on all the time. At the heel position it has next to no effect on tone so all I have to do is step on it and it is there. If I don't need it at all I just click it off.
  18. I use a Rocktron Velocity 300 into a pair of old Peavey 15" PA speakers or into my own 2X12's with Celestion V-30's and Emminence Guvnors. Sounds awesome but heavy to lug around...
  19. I'm a little confused here... the one you linked to looks like its for a Floyd Rose? wouldn't I use the shelf nut instead for a 69? http://www.shop.earvana.com/Fender-Style-Shelf-Nuts-FDRNUT.htm
  20. the problem is dotted (4,8,16,32) varies with the actual tempo. Unfortunately Spider IV doesn't allow you to set this parameter. You can Google the formula to figure out the timing for your actual tempo. The HD500 will allow you to select dotted time parameters and automatically adjusts as you change tempo...
  21. suggest you use the left 1/4 out from the POD into the 44 which should be set to NORM. You can try both pre and full amp models to see what you like best. You will also have to try all the various output modes to see which one works best with your particular cab with the 44.
  22. Actually the setup you describe works just as you have it setup. The problem is that as the first distortion drops to zero output it trashes the tone into the second distortion. I built a workaround for you by placing the amp after the mixer and putting each distortion in a separate channel. I then linked them to the expression pedal and they track smoothly and the tone follows just as you would expect. Check it out on Customtone. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/364806/
  23. In my experience there is none better or more reasonably priced than these guys. All cables made to order in their ISO certified factory right here in the USA. 24. I think the midi is still available in L6 link and should be able to control the reverb in the DT but I have never tried and not sure why you would need to anyways...
  25. Guitar > Volume > Wah > M13 > FX Loop out > MXR> Amp In...etc. Another variation would be to put the Volume pedal in Between the final M13 out and the Amp FX Loop Return.
