I for one, am very happy with all the models in the new firmware release... However, i can't believe Line 6 failed to get permission from every sinlge registered user before issuing such a sweeping upgrade free of charge... Its really preposterous that they gave something so major away for nothing when there was even one lone user that preferred the sound of one model that he occasionally used late at night in his bedroom... -
Thanks so much for that great article... Hope you don't mind me reposting it here... My trem did not come with the white clamp you show so I will be adding that later... I don't currently have any real issues with sticking but if it should have been there I will make the correction...

I agree with what you are saying, I have them for my DAW... Problem is I am not sure I would be willing to pay up for them in a future upgrade... Maybe if they include all the other upgrades that have been discussed across the boards but I kind of like the current price point...

Must be, I can see it...

Absolutely not... that is not allowed for worship playing, only regular playing like for rock and roll... LOL... Of course you can. just plug them in where you want in the signal chain and adjust your levels accordingly...

just curious since he stated it was actually made in England and I was a little surprised to hear that, pretty unlikely. It's more of a personal preference. Where possible, I will buy US made, if I can afford it. I am well aware that much of what I own is made in China and quite frankly can't afford the US versions... BUT... if given a choice...

Even if you are right, and I am willing to conced the point, I don't believe the current architecture is capable of allowing you to install or store these files, let alone integrate them into the software signal chain. I am also not willing to pay the extra money necessary to perhaps achieve a small increase in cabinet resolution. If I do decide to upgrade in the future, it will be to gain better hardware such as footswitches and increased DSP as in the 500X. Perhaps a future offering will incorporate things like this along with the X upgrades, better EQ's, new distortion and OD models and even amp switching and dedicated 4 cable method support. However, I also hope they keep it at the current >$500 price point...

unfortunately, even if this were offered it would simply result in another group of tone searchers complaining about a different as yet undiscovered failing that is keeping them from finding the Holy Grail of Tone... if you can't find a workable tone with this gear, the problem may not be the gear, it may just be the user... That said, there are plenty of ways to use IR's within your DAW for recording and there are ways to do it live but you will have to spend the money to get there... In the end it really is all about the cost point... to my ears the current bang for the buck is off the charts and anything else we get is pure gravy...

I didn't specifically change patches with different JTV models assigned last night but I did multiple changes with both Workbench and HD Edit connected and there was never any sort of popping or noise associated with any of the model changes or patch changes. The model changes were fast and seemless and silent. I will try to replicte the previous popping conditions tonight and check it out but my guess is it has been fixed...

does the Celestion actually say "Made in England" or just show the company's address in England? I have a pair of Vintage 30's that I thought were made in England till I found the tiny sticker near the voice coil that said made in China... They still sound great but it was a disappointment... I will never buy another speaker not made in the USA. Check out Warehouse Guitar Speakers - https://wgs4.com/

I stand corrected... pretty lame hype... I still stand by the rest of my post... NOT a real gigging amp without major changes, which may be coming in a future update... who knows?
-
Let's get real... AMPLIFI was never designed or marketed to be a gigging musicians go to amp. It is a great practice tool, a nice living room/bedroom amp, great for the kid off to college to have something in the dorm, but to ever think this is your main amp as a working musician is crazy.

ok so I just completed the update and it went smoothly with no hickups. First I updated Workbench HD with Monkey, no problems. Then I connected my JTV-69 with the USB brick (remember to charge your battery and use a 1/4" dummy plug to turn on) and In Monkey selected Change Device. It brought up a new window and I selected the JTV. Now it showed needing the update and it also went smoothly. Takes a while but it gets it done. Now with JTV connected to HD500 and HD500 connected to computer with USB I can open Workbench and it sees the JTV and downloads all 60 models in a snap, very fast. I can also open HD Edit simultaneously. Connected to my DT25 with L6 link everything works together seemlessly. I can change models and patches on the computer in their individual programs without any interference. For the first time I actually used the blending for the mags and it sounds great. I saved some blended models to Custom 1 to play with later. Sounds awesome, don't know if anything else was fixed but it is fine in my book... :D PS - Windows 7, tower not laptop, FIOS broadband, USB 2.0... BTW... Homerun!

You can also use the expression pedal to morph any amp model from clean to dirty by assigning multiple parameters to it. The expression pedal can control up to 50 separate parameters at the same time. You can assign Drive, tone stack, Channel Volume etc to the pedal so, for example, as you press it your Hi Gain Treadplate can clean up nicely without having to change patches... Or your clean Blackface can get heavy with overdrive and delay... Just another way of looking at things... So much you can do with this rig if you want to get creative...

I really wish Line 6 would bring back the blog. They used to have some great articles and really provided info we could use. Sure there was some fluff in there too but WTF? Why did it stop? Anyways, here are a couple more useful series they started. Doesn't look like the Guide to Home Recording quite finished but How to Record a Song and the Guide to Making YouTube Videos are complete. Guide to Home Recording - https://www.cx.com/0/io/hotlink/aoorcMpJEeOWfSICCluF4w/Guide%20to%20Home%20Recording.pdf How to Record a Song - https://www.cx.com/0/io/hotlink/gSTp1MpJEeONmiICCiuDbg/How%20to%20Record%20a%20Song.pdf Guide to Making YouTube Videos - https://www.cx.com/0/io/hotlink/mWQv2spJEeOWfSICCluF4w/Making%20Music%20Videos%20For%20YouTube.pdf Sure wish they would start this back up! So many more topics yet to be covered...

Anyways, going back through the archives I came across this series about delays and to preserve it for posterity (cause we never know when those pages will disappear) I put them in a PDF form. Looks like it was meant to keep going but something stopped them from continuing. Sure wish they would pick this back up and keep going across the full range of all the effects... Here is the link if you are interested... https://www.cx.com/0/io/hotlink/P_uZXsopEeOMhyICCluF4w/Deep%20Dive%20into%20the%20Effects%20of%20the%20POD%20HD%20Multi%20Effects%20Processors.pdf

There is also a tiny set screw that keeps the tension on the bar that may need to be released as well. Here is a link to a great article about setting up your trem, has a lot of detailed pics and is really helpful. https://www.cx.com/0/io/hotlink/YPIXs8oREeOMhyICCluF4w/Tyler_Variax_JTV-69_Tremolo_Setup_111030.pdf

you have no choice on output setting with L6 link, it configures automatically and can't be changed. Did you even try those patches? They are all specifically for the HD/DT and are very usable. What sort of live sound are you looking for anyways? What's your style?
-
try this link for a bank file of tones that are very workable. 3 set lists, clean crunch and lead tones with various effect combinations all designed for the hd500 and a DT. Definitely some usable tones there... http://www.line6presets.com/videos.cfm

yep, clockwise to reduce. I find it more effective than EQ but it depends on the physical cabs you are playing through too... as far as how much you need...
-
the 500X is an amazing piece of gear. However, there is a learning curve to get the most out of it. It is not well suited for the Spider 75 but should work very well with either of the two heads you mentioned and your Blackstar cab. You will most likely end up using it in the 4 cable method which you can learn about in the knowledge base or Google for more details or just straight into the amp's FX return. Both of those amps should be able to handle bigger cabs if you choose too. Spend time reading the manual and then follow this link for more detailed learning... Good luck and have fun with it! http://line6.com/support/topic/6524-dt25-with-podhd500x-sounds-better-with-amps-bypassed/page-2?do=findComment&comment=47716
