phil_m has the best and easiest solution to use the expression pedal to morph between different amp settings. You can assign up to 50 separate parameters to the pedal for simultaneous action. I have set up patches like this where as I press the pedal I can increase the drive, adjust the tone stack, change the channel volume, increase the delay mix, and lower the reverb. It is much better than simply changing amp channels... If you really just want to have a channel A and B setup, you need to make a dual amp patch with your two models and assign them both to a FS. As one turns on the other turns off, so you switch channels and everything else remains the same. Just uses more DSP than the expression pedal.
-
Without L6 link you cannot access those parameters within a patch. You can only edit them by midi with a 3rd party program and save them. You can tell the POD exactly what to send to your DT50 in the DT configuration tab under Setup. Refer to the L6 Connectivity Guide from the POD HD500 Manuals Download page for details. You can then feed the 1/4 outs and/or XLR to another amp for a separate signal(s) to be processed...

Unfortunately no, I really wish they would have continued this series or would pick it back up again... HINT... HINT...
-
no, same thing for the DT50 as the DT25. There is only one power section unlike a stereo power amp that actualy has two distinct power sections able to separately process the left and right signals. A tube amp, any amp not specifically designated stereo for that matter will only put out a mono signal. Your dual amp patches will be summed to mono. You can still power two cabs but each will have the same mono signal.

yes, exactly...
-
absolutely... suggest adding an FXLoop to the signal chain in your POD, preferably before the amp block, and connect your MT2 there. Turn on and off with the FX loop or just use the MT2 for that...
-
and therein lies the problem of tying your amp to a separate device... no matter the amp's capabilities, you are limited by the iOS capabilities now...
-
I just want to see the video once its built of how you step on the FS... thats some high stepping there.... Try cutting a piece of plywood to fit and cover it with rubber matting. Should be more than adequate for the static... You can also go to Radio Shack for static grounding straps...
-
Hahahahahahahahahahahah... sorry just couldn't help it... that's too funny...
-
suggest you do the trusty system reset on the POD and recalibrate the pedal just for the hell of it... it seems to cure many disparate problems... Have you tried the ground loop switch? I know its for the XLR but try anyways... have you tried both 1/4 outs? any difference? what happens if you put an FX loop in the chain and go from the send instead of the POD out?

Variax Recording Question
radatats replied to Beeron's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
perhaps for just plain guitar signal input there is no big difference. The quality of various audio interfaces and their drivers is a separate issue and has its own cost benefits to consider. As far as the POD HD500, well obviously there is a HUGE difference in additional capabilities. You would not only have a top level digital interface but a top level performance tool with HD amp modeling and effects too. It allows you to connect your JTV to the Workbench HD software to manage and control your JTV models and parameters, apply updates to firmware, and save models and settings along with your patches. To me there is no comparison... POD wins hands down... -
I understand your problem. However, the M9 really has no use for a USB connection since there is nothing specifically needing the computer for regular use. The midi however, is a very useful feature to allow you to make patch changes within your rig from a midi controller device. Line 6 uses that built in feature to provide us with bonus firmware upgrades and new features free of charge and to save scenes for backup. The main reason the cheaper interfaces don't work as well is the drivers are not built to handle the data transfers required for a firmware update with stability. They can pass midi control signals fine but fail during these more demanding data transfers. As noted above, the M-Audio MIDISport Uno has rock solid drivers and works well where the others tend to fail. It's unfortunate you already bought the cheaper one but perhaps you can take it back to exchange for one that will do the job. Down the road you may find another use for it, perhaps for a POD HD? Of course you could just be happy with what you got in the first place but if you want the additional features Line 6 is giving for free you will have to get the right gear...

Mixing Magnetics With Models
radatats replied to dtray187's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Thanks! I totally missed that... I just realligned my models in the Custom 1 bank to match up with the mags. Very interesting, I get a much clearer tone on chords, higher notes are more defined with the mags blended in... Kind of wish I hadn't started playing with it cause now there are a million new things to fiddle with... :D -
I use the EX-1 as well and while it is not top of the line, I got it on sale ro $30 so no complaints. It definitely does the job and would work fine as a dedicated volume pedal. Leave the more complicated stuf to the built in pedal. Or spring for the more expensive one...

Mixing Magnetics With Models
radatats replied to dtray187's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Unfortunately there is more than enough going on in there to allow for either possibility but there is absolutely no official guidance on the truth... time for an Expert or Specialist to step in... -
careful now, the last time we tried to get a Slayer tone for JCM800 this went on for days and devolved into a serious debacle... where is that Master of Mayhem anyways?
-
Why not just use HD Edit and save the entire lot off the 500X as a bundle and then load the bundle on to the 500. Saves a lot of drag and drop work... You should also save the individual sets too in case you later just want to replace one set list.

Mixing Magnetics With Models
radatats replied to dtray187's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
When blending mags with models, does anybody know which mags are actually blended? Does it blend the pickups from the model or does it blend the pickups associated with the actual position of the selector switch? For instance, if a model in position 5 (neck pickup) has bridge and middle selected, does the JTV blend the neck or the bridge and middle? -
Nice!

I Want To Edit Amp B But Can't Hear That Model
radatats replied to WardMan's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
+1 to Tboneous. For additional consideration, remember there is only one physical analog power section in your amp. It has to get its configuration info from somewhere and that is ALWAYS going to be the amp model in channel A when connected to the POD by L6 link. If the amp model in channel A is turned off, the DT automatically defaults to it's own internal channel B amp model. Also remember that with a dual amp patch no matter what amp model you have in channel B, the analog power section is still controlled by and linked to the amp in channel A. If you want to run them both together and blended that is no problem. If you want to be able to switch between amp models within the same patch, the best way I found is to put a volume pedal in each path set to zero. With the pedal off the signal passes and when turned on it is muted. This can allow you to use either amp or both but no matter what, the power section will remain tied to the model in channel A so if there is a specific configuration you like, put that one in channel A. -
Dt25 With Podhd500x - Sounds Better With Amps Bypassed
radatats replied to GazzaBloom's topic in DT50 / DT25
Wow! We never thought of that... I will get with the software guys and see if we can't rewrite the entire code just to make that happen... good idea... -
a little late to the party but... go into control panel, select sound, then the recording tab. Double click the POD HD (it should have a green check mark) and select levels. Make sure this is up to 100. I have had occasional instances where this was low even though I thought everything else was up where it should be... If you have already done this, disregard...
