  1. you can go in to the cab DEP parameters and use the low cut to reduce boominess. It is really patch specific though. The only global EQ settings are in Combo Front and Stack Front output modes. If you are using one of those you can try that but more than likely going into the PA you are using Studio Direct.

    Wha Stuff

Here is an idea I got from Glenn Delaune for having your wah always on but not coloring your tone, just like a Bad Horsie. Assign the wah to a FS to turn on and off just in case you want to. Assign Exp 1 to control the position from 0-100 Assign Exp 1 to control the Mix from 21-(55-62) Now with the pedal in the heel position there is no coloring of the sound and as I press down it does not get that harsh, tinny sound the POD wahs seem to generate. If it still has too much bite, assign the amp mid, treble and/or presence to the same pedal so they lower as the wah kicks in... This really works nicely and you don't have to mess with the toe switch... If you still want it to work as a volume pedal too, assign the volume pedal to the same FS so it turns off when the wah turns on and vice versa.
  3. Many threads have been started about how the overdrives and distortions are not the strong points of the POD HD series. However, there are some great blind tests on YouTube that show they actually do a great job modelling the real units they are based on. That leads me to believe that its not a weakness of the POD but rather the models themselves are dated compared to some of the ones in use today. Instead of asking for new amp models (I think the ones we have are plenty anyways) perhaps we would be better off with a collection of new overdrive and distortion models. I imagine these are easier to program than a complete amp but I could be wrong. Anyways, lets start a list of ultimate OD pedals that we would like to see in a future update. Here is my selection to get started: 1, Fulltone OCD V3 2. Wampler Sovereign 3. Wampler Triple Wreck What overdrive or distortion pedals would you add to the list?
  4. Thanks for the link. yes he has a nice set of tones there and shows off the overdrives and distortions very well. It is just another fine example of how you can get anything you want out of this rig if you just spend the time and keep an open mind.
  5. I was surprised that the L6 distortions were actually very close to the originals and with a little more tweaking could certainly have matched them. I think a lot of players that don't like the L6 distortions and overdrives are comparing them to other pedals available today. In reality those same players would probably prefer their pedals to the originals that the L6 models are based on too. I can't necessarily disagree with them on that but the L6 models definitely do what they claim to do.
  6. ABSOLUTELY NOT! you already described the tube as having "ash" in it... the tube blew and shorted out causing the fuse to blow which hopefully prevented other more serious damage. As I already stated, take it to a service center or a qualified tech. You are risking further damage and personal injury or death mucking about with gear you are unfamiliar with. Please follow this simple advice... But, its your life and money...
  7. I listened carefully and selected POD for all the ones I liked the best without actual regard to which was which. End result only 2 wrong. Told me I actually PREFER the POD tones most of the time... interesting...
  8. Ok so I have a DT25 but not a Stagesource. I can say that the DT is an awesome amp and mates well with the POD. However, I am not certain that you will see any great noticeable advantages over using your current Atomic 50 212 paired with the HD500. Yes, you gain the ability to switch between triode/pentode, class A/AB and can change topologies. Is that worth the $1000 over what you already have? Not sure really... I would suggest you first try the HD500 paired with the Atomic and really wring it out. Learn the HD500 first. Many others love the Atomic and it should pair nicely with the POD. Might save you some dough that you can put towards a JTV!!! Edit - reading the Atomic manual I see another plus for the Atomic is the fact that it claims to be a true full range amp. The DT is NOT full range, it is a guitar amp. That means your acoustic and synth patches should sound much better through the Atomic than the DT. However, there are ways to get a decent acoustic tone from the DT; I just can't say personally that they would be as good as with a full range system. - another option that I personally am waiting for is the new Behringer KXD12 keyboard amp. At $350 it looks like a real killer to match with the HD500 and I can get a pair of them for the price of a DT or L series. It's not out till July so just standing by in the mean time... http://www.behringer.com/EN/products/KXD12.aspx
  9. thanks for a rational explanation... everyone wants to make money, if it was possible, it would be done already...
  10. NOBODY HAS AN ANDROID APP! none of the major companies have anything on Android... Amplitube, Bias, you name it... NOT A SINGLE ANDROID APP FROM ANYBODY! there HAS to be a deeper reason why...
  11. My mistake earlier, I crossed your post with the OP... I just don't see how we are in any position to say what makes economic sense for them... I am certain if there was a profit to be made without some big downside that we aren't seeing they would be all over it...
  12. I strongly advise you to get to a store and test them both first. They are very different beasts and neither one will integrate well with your Spider 2. You may find you need to get a new amp that will work well with a modeling unit; perhaps an amp with a FX loop or a stereo power amp and cab or even a powered monitor. Unless you REALLY want new gear, you may be OK just getting a floorboard for your Spider 2... Its still a pretty decent amp and if you have a lot of experience with it, I am sure you have already got a few go-to tones on there...
  13. Start with this guide: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/setup Then go to the Knowledge base and watch these videos: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/dream-rig/dream-rig-basic-setup-and-connections-r631 http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/dream-rig/dream-rig-tip-1-layering-wet-and-dry-tones-r559 http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/dream-rig/dream-rig-tip-2-layering-electric-guitar-and-r560 http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/dream-rig/the-line-6-dream-rig-in-the-studio-part-i-r561 http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/dream-rig/the-line-6-dream-rig-in-the-studio-part-ii-r562 Next start with just one amp at a time and just as if you had just bought the real thing. Get to know each amp model and mix and match cabs and mics to see what they do. Once you have a couple of models you like begin to do the same thing with effects. Treat them as if they were the real thing and see how they react to your playing style. There is no simple "one setup for all" approach to doing this. You have to find what works for you as you go but this should all get you in the ballpark...
  14. First and foremost, there are voltages in a tube amp that can kill you dead even when not plugged in or turned on. If you do not know what you are doing, keep your hands out of the amp and take it to a qualified service technician. Do not try to troubleshoot this on your own. You made a significant investment when you bought this gear and you are well advised to spend the few dollars to maintain it properly. Second, yes it's normal. Get the power tubes replaced. The 12AX7 is a phase inverter and can be replaced, but generally lasts much longer than the power tubes.
  15. sure sounds like tubes to me! Once that popping starts, that is an automatic tube order... before something more serious occurs as the tube blows out. A tube is sort of like a light bulb. It has filaments inside that conduct electricity and heat up. Over time they simply wear out or burn out and the filaments can break and short out. You don't want that to happen as that is when other parts get taken out too... Best to simply replace them at the first sign of trouble. Definitely stop playing through it once it starts to give problems until it is sorted out...
  16. Whatever your thoughts on this are, they are just your thoughts. If its not the gear for you so be it! Apparently it is the right gear for a lot of people because it is getting good reviews and seems to be selling well. We have discussed the Apple vs Android issue on multiple threads and it isn't going to be resolved any time soon IMHO. There are tons of good music production and guitar processing apps on iOS but not a single one on Android. Why do you think that is? Nobody wants to make money? There has to be something fundamentally wrong with the Android platform in this regard or someone would have cracked that nut and be making a ton of dough. It may come down to the Open Source basis of Android versus the tightly controlled iOS. Nobody wants their code hung out for all to see. Either way, if you don't like it, don't buy it! Why bash something that is not built for you? Line 6 builds one product for a different market segment and all of a sudden you feel rejected? How about enjoying what you have...
  17. Isn't that exactly what you have with the HD500/DT50 paired together? You can easily set up a patch to load any amp you want in channel A and switch to Channel B with a different amp setup with just a FS... Not sure what would be gained (or lost) with what you are suggesting... I agree with you wholeheartedly that a lot of the old school resistance is just a stubborn refusal to jump into the 21st century... But whatever you do, don't get a JTV Variax, no way man... hahahahaha! You will be blown away again...
  18. I really don't know where these POS come from... Zap, you show great patience and give great advice.
  19. ok so there are a TON of Mr Creepy pages on FB but found you at www.facebook.com/creepytunes... Great music bro, so did you record the vids on YouTube with the POD and the DT or the Pocket POD? Just curious, looking forward to more from you guys...
  20. I'll check it out later but for now, just curious why you need to jack the volume at so many levels? EQ boosts, amp volume, mixer centered and channels boosted 4db... does your amp need a super hot signal? is your POD master maxed? are you on line or amp? 1/4 outs or XLRs? is your amp bridged, stereo or mono? are you set to full range?
  21. try stack front too. don't forget there are global eq settings you can adjust in the front modes to get rid of the mud. try studio direct too... don't get locked into any one setting just because someone said so. play around with it...
  22. Just to clarify... there are plenty of threads where we can debate the benefits of analog vs digital... I was hoping we could focus on reporting bands/performers/recordings where Line 6 was actually featured... I love spotting a POD hidden in a performer's rig where they hoped nobody would see it... hehehe...
  23. as I posted on the other thread you are working this issue, you need to go into your DT by midi and use DTEdit software to actually verify what amp models you have selected for each topology in both channel A and B. Only then can you be sure that what you are trying to replicate with the POD matches what you are hearing from the DT. You should not assume that any certain model is actually assigned. Once verified there is no reason you can't get the same thing from the POD...
