  1. they are not gain stages as found in a normal tube preamp. The DT25 and the 50 each use a 12ax7 as a phase inverter for the power tubes. This is a standard configuration for a tube power section. My all tube Crate has 4 12ax7s, 3 for gain stages in the preamp and 1 as phase inverter for the power tubes. The DT50 has a second 12ax7 which is technically a gain stage but not in the traditional preamp sense. It is used as a Boost when selected to add a little more juice to the signal feeding the power tubes but it is still not part of the preamp section (it has no tone shaping function). I hope this makes sense... For better understanding try this link... http://www.300guitars.com/articles/article-demystifying-the-phase-inverter/
  2. I really like the simplicity of multieffects from a cable and setup stand point so I am not a big fan of external pedals. However, this looks like the one pedal I might actually have to get... http://mybeatbuddy.com/ Seriously, a drummer in a pedal? Brilliant... What is the one pedal you are really thinking about getting?
  3. You can also set the JTV knobs to "off" within the patch in the POD. That way when you select a patch, it loads the amp model and all your effects, tells the JTV what model to use and any alternate tunings as well as set the volume and tone and turn the knobs off so they don't change on you. You can also assign different functions to the knobs if you want. For instance the tone knob can be set to control the gain on your amp or the mix in your delay. Give it time, you will get the hang of it all...

    Out Of Stock?

maybe, but a 300 watt stereo head like my old Flextone built around a Pod HD Pro would be the bomb... or in a rack mount unit... its my rumor and I'm sticking with it!
  5. Seriously, the most epic post of the day!

    Out Of Stock?

I heard the HD ProX is being reworked to incorporate the iOS bluetooth support for deep editing so you can keep it buried in your rack. Apparently there will also be a HD ProX II with a built in stereo power amp as a standalone solution...
  7. How are you using the headphones with your Vox with a 4CM? Your headphones plugged into the POD will be getting the signal BEFORE it hits the VOX power section so will certainly sound different. Essentially you will have a patch with pre effects, VOX pre amp and post effects but no power amp, or speaker/cab.You may be able to listen with the amp in STBY but really don't think this will be good... You should probably make duplicate patches of your 4CM setup using the POD's internal AC30 full amp model and tweak the amp model to sound as close to yours as possible through your headphones. At least that way you will be able to practice and even record with a pretty close replica of your real rig. Keep all the effect and footswitch assignments the same then when you switch to the real rig it should be pretty seamless...
  8. no matter what you do you will have to make adjustments for new gear and more importantly for volume... what you think sounds great at practice level will probably need adjusting at stage level... Is your heart set on that particular amp/cab setup? You might consider a pair of quality powered 12" monitors to really put the POD through its paces or if your wallet will allow, one of the L series speakers, maybe the L2t or its big brother the L3t or even a DT25/50 head. Another option is the soon to be released Behringer KXD12 keyboard amp. Its a 700 watt full range amp with built in mixer for about $350. Start with one and get a second for real stereo... Food for thought...
  9. check out this software... I just found this and I am trying the demo but so far looks very promising... http://www.riffstation.com/features.html
  10. JTV, don't know why it shouldn't work with a regular acoustic...
  11. ok so here is a patch I made for FRFR setups using a pair of awesome Dr Z's with different cabs and mics. A little Tube Compressor out front, slight delay on one amp, Digital Delay on FS3, Analog Chorus on FS2 and Chandler Tube Drive on FS1 for a nice dirt boost. No need to load a bunch of EQ's, this just sounds full and rich as is. It's setup for a Variax with the single input method but if you are using a regular guitar you may want to change input 2 to Variax. I loaded arislaf's excellent Telecaster bundle and there is a great range of tones to be had there. Great work arislaf! Running my JTV-69 through a Rocktron Velocity 300 into a pair of passive Peavey 15" PA speakers just for your reference. Give it a whirl and then share your favorite Dr Z patch... http://line6.com/customtone/tone/276315/ feedback welcome...
  12. come back and fight, this is only a flesh wound...
  13. If you want to totally bypass the Fender preamp section just take the POD output straight to the Fender PWR IN jack and you should be good to go. You don't need the POD FX loop or anything different. You are just doing all your effects and preamps in the POD and going straight to the Fender power section. Use the Left 1/4 out from the POD to sum both channels to mono for your amp.
  14. this is a USER forum... support does not generally provide anything other than advice on what new gear to buy... I have seen a couple of Product Specialists beginning to reply to posts but don't expect any sort of detailed info...
  15. he raised you right... have fun with it and stick around!
  16. again with the sir? you military? my advice, pick one and stick with it for now. There are too many differences between getting a good sound from your amp and from direct to PA. Both are good, just different Decide which you want to focus on for now and get it down before you move over. My suggestion? Start with the PA first in Studio Direct Output using full amp models. These patches will sound great through headphones and studio monitors so you will be able to travel with them more easily. Once you get the hang of it, you can take what you have learned to build patches for running into the front of your amp. These will most likely be with Combo Front output and will NOT sound good through headphones or other monitors. Hoever, you CAN get good results with your amp. You may want to just use the POD like a regular effects pedal board with your amp. That little bugger has a great tone on its own so that might be something you want to consider...
  17. both solutions are OK, just different. Do you have both available to you all the time? Is it just for gigs or rehearsals or use at home? full volume or bedroom levels? there is no one answer... you have to try both for yourself and see how they sound with your gear and your fingers and ears... and of course, what you actually have with you when you want to play...
  18. hahahahahahah..... Lighten up bro! no worries...
  19. sir? LMFAO... dude I work for a living so lay off the high fallutin' BS... Look everywhere! Use the table of contents! I don't know what you want me to say... You asked for the best exercise to familiarize yourself with the gear and that is it... read the manuals and go along with each step with your POD so you see WTF they are talking about... then when you don't understand a step or function you can say " on page such and such its says blah but I don't get it"... now we have a reference to actually help you with something rather than trying to just tell you how the thing works from scratch... give it time... its a complicated little beast but well worth the effort... :)
  20. downloading and reading the Advanced Guide would be your best bet... then when you ask questions, you can point to the section you actually need help with... ;)
  21. good luck... I don't think there are many, if any, DT users that don't use a POD... try this... http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/dt50dt25/using-midi-to-change-amp-settings-on-the-dt50d-r129
  22. I posted this awhile back... this patch is designed for acoustic with a DT using L6 link... try it, you'll like it... let me know... http://line6.com/customtone/tone/259442/
  23. Great idea! I also downloaded a new acoustic from Glen DeLaune and a bank of baritone acoustics but haven't had a chance to try them yet...
  24. Lots of good info out there... remember to treat your effects inside the POD as if they were the real thing at your feet... have fun with it... http://guitarpedalboard.tumblr.com/post/34810459/order-order http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/top-tone-tips.html http://www.howcast.com/videos/510112-How-to-Understand-Guitar-Pedal-Order-Guitar-Pedals http://robertkeeley.com/category/technical/pedal-sequence/
