you can go into windows sound properties and tell it to use the computer's sound card for playback and the POD for recording. However, if you want to hear your POD now you will have to use a DAW and setup recording tracks and monitor that way... plenty of small mixers out there under $100 that will do the job... you can connect the monitors to the mixer either way, doesn't really matter...

in addition to the POD advanced guide and the DT quick start guide make sure you download and read the L6 link and connectivity guide. Lots of extra bits of info in there too...

they are both separate stereo signals right up to the mixer. From that point on it is just one stereo signal out. That is why the mixer allows us to blend the two stereo signals which ever way we choose. I am not sure if the original poster was referring to being able to output two separate stereo signals but that is definitely not supported by either the hardware or the software.

See pages 3-7 through 3-10 in the Advanced Guide and here is a video that might help... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=214R1pX_a2o

Disable Live Input Monitoring?
radatats replied to AllenAchterberg's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
wow, don't remember that specific FX... not really sure... maybe the stereo delay? there are just so many quality FX available and in so many different combinations produce such a diversity of tones... -
so you love this amp and want some effects to run in front... why a POD? why not an M9/13 or a Zoom/Boss something or other? Do you want the amp modelling? I ask because this is a great little amp but it is not a great candidate for a modeler... That being said, if you just want to run the effects in front with the POD, the effects are M class and sound great. I am sure they will work fine but I don't think you will be happy trying to run different amp models through it... now if you get a DT later you will be all set...

pedal python looks cool... easy to do and reconfigure if needed. http://www.cableorganizer.com/cable-sleeving/ lot of choices to do your own here too... gotta admit, one of the best reasons for a DT is never having to mess with all this...

Would You Own More Than 1 Jtv?
radatats replied to pugdealer's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I would definitely... sometime in the future I will get a 59 to complement my 69... -
common issue, many threads dealing with it... Channel Volume is the one to use to level between amps. Set the Master to control overall volume. Now max out your clean amps with the channel volume to where you like them. Adjust your dirt/gain amps down accordingly to level across various patches. That's just how real amps work, some are louder than others... You can get different volumes with different cabs too so play around with it. Read through as many threads on these forums as you can before asking questions. Most everything has been asked and answered more than once along the way. Lots of good stuff in the knowledge base too... Have fun with it!

never mind the bollocks... get the 500X. There will undoubtedly be a firmware update somewhere down the line. The extra DSP and improved FS are worth the price of admission. Honestly, I know there are a few bugs, I wish the EQ was different, but I would buy this again in a heartbeat and if I was going to upgrade I wouldn't hesitate to go for the 500X... 3, 2, 1, ... let the haters begin... lol...

have you tried running dual amp patches in the POD? You can still run one out to the Blackstar and the other to the K1. Unfortunately the Zoom pedals don't have midi so there is no way to sync them for patch changes. I have had great luck building dual amp patches feeding a stereo power amp and Peavey cabs. Just have to monitor your DSP usage...

Disable Live Input Monitoring?
radatats replied to AllenAchterberg's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
from page 9-6 of the Advanced Guide: 9 Hardware Monitor Level: This slider independently controls the volume of your processed guitar tone output for monitoring (the signal fed to the device’s main outputs). It does not affect the level of the signal fed to your computer via the Record Send. This allows you to balance your guitar’s monitor level against the playback audio from your computer, such as when recording in DAW software. If using POD HD500 as the audio interface for recording into a DAW application, then your DAW may also offer its own “software monitoring†function. You may want to use the DAW’s software monitoring in some scenarios, such as if you want to hear your guitar signal processed with plug-ins on the DAW track. When utilizing DAW software monitoring, you’ll want to set this slider’s level to minimum to allow you to hear only the DAW software monitoring signal. I had the G92tt as well and while it was a great pedal, this is leaps above it. It takes time and effort to learn it inside out, it's not simply plug and play but it is well worth the effort... -
Read pages 3-7 to 3-10 of the advanced guide, it tells you how to program the expression pedal. Look in the Knowledge Base too and Google You Tube.

you could run 4 cable but I would suggest just connecting the L and R 1/4 outs on the POD to the two FX loop return jacks on the back of the amp. You have essentially a stereo power amp and cab that way for the POD. Try it in Studio Direct output mode on the POD and use full amp models. Start with just a Blackface amp model with the default cab and mic, no effects, and make adjustments until it sounds good to you. Add a little reverb and just play around with it to get a feel for how things work. You can branch out from there and do the same thing with other amp models. Stick with this amp for a while and see how you like it before you drop a bundle on a DT... learn the POD first...
-
Why on earth go through all that trouble? Are you still using the L6 link? If so then your POD is not in Studio Direct, if not then you are losing all the advantages it gives you. Try the patch I created below to just play acoustic through the DT with L6 link. It really does the trick bro... Then you can just run either the XLR out from your DT or mic it if you want and do all your patch changes in the POD. Much easier and sounds better too... http://line6.com/support/topic/5553-acoustic-solution-for-jtv-with-dt-amps/
-
not sure if it was mentioned but you have no choice in the matter if you are using L6 link to your DT. It will switch no matter what setting you have selected as soon as the DT powers on so don't worry about it. That is why we have to build separate patches for DT and FRFR. You can't use Studio Direct with L6 link.

yeah this is a consistent occurence when I have my DT connected too. I am not sure what causes it but it does not happen without the DT connected...

I use pitch glide with exp 1 in the HD500 with no real problems. Mostly I use it statically set 1 octave up or down and tie the mix to the exp pedal, 0-100%. I find it tracks very well for mono tones as one would expect but poly tones can be an issue as it isn't sure which note or harmonic to lock on to. Follows leads with no problems. Placement can be an issue. I have experienced no delays as noted above... it is what it is... Make sure where ever you are putting it is giving it a clear signal. Try placing it before extreme distortions or any delays. Edit - IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A DIGITECH WHAMMY PEDAL. However, it does what it does...
-
try to remember you are not tied to the amp/cab/mic combinations they give you in the POD. Some of my favorite tones come from the most unlikely amp/cab/mic combinations. Mix and match, don't be afraid to experiment with stuff that "shouldn't" work together... Get the amp/cab/mic right before you add any effects and it becomes MUCH easier...

Hey Joe! Welcome to the boards, nice to have a "product specialist" contributing... hopefully you will be able to clear up some ongoing questions in any number of threads... look forward to getting your input.

so it can't be calibrated but it can be modified to work a little better. I may try that as it seems to be quite clunky in its operation. Hardly linear, jerky, all on or all off, and not a full sweep. Usable, but if it can be made better I may try... thanks everyone...

Doing some routine maintenance tonight and I couldn't find any procedure to recalibrate my second expression pedal. Is there a way to do it? Is there even a need to do it? By the way, when recording a clip tonight Studio One crashed and it corrupted my firmware. I had to reflash and Monkey wanted to update to 2.2 so i said OK but it died in the middle of the update and the POD was stuck with the dreaded UPDATE FIRMWARE message even after a restart. Monkey still saw it though so I rolled back to 2.1 and it took. I then retried 2.2 and it worked good this time. Did a Global reset and calibrated the pedal. That's when I noticed there is no procedure to recalibrate the second one. Had to tighten the pedal too, lucky I had my own Allen wrenches 'cause God knows where the Line 6 one is...

Dt With Pod Dual Path Between Amp And Mixer Question
radatats replied to aggravation's topic in DT50 / DT25
do not mute at the mixer in this configuration, you gain nothing. You should continue to send the signal down both paths to hit any FX blocks in the post secton such as reverb, delay etc. From there it depends on what you want to feed with your outputs. Each XLR will only feed its associated path (L or R) as will the 1/4 outs with the exception that the Left 1/4 out willl sum both sides to mono provided you don't use the Right 1/4 out. I have found when using Variax on input 1 that setting input 2 to Guitar actually gives me a quieter signal than using Aux. However, that may just be my setup, who knows? -
it sounds like you want a full alternate tuning? are you using a Variax? POD will not give you a complete alternate tuning on it's own... maybe I misunderstood...
-
I don't understand what you want to be able to do... or which FX specifically you are using. Please be more specific... sorry bro...
