holy crap! I thought Line 6 manuals were tough to read but that GR-55 manual is totally useless... sorry bro I don't have a clue what the Roland guys are trying to say there...

Johnyyyyyyyyy Help!
radatats replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
yep, here's the link to his White Falcon, looks like it would be a similar awesome project... :) http://line6.com/support/topic/2496-yo-johnnyayyy-bigsby-questions/?p=16052 -
ok so I just posted some ideas there... lets see what happens... - ability to create custom pickups in WBHD - block diagrams to show true signal flow - topology switch in HD Edit to work with full amp models - display more than 10 tones per page in Customtone - add clipping indicator to POD HD
-
I remember the floyd gasm patch, maybe the owner deleted it... is this your violin patch? http://line6.com/customtone/tone/256750/ What I usually do is if I find a tone I like, bring up that person's profile in Customtone and just download all their tones into their own folder. Then I can just drag them all into HD Edit and check them out. I have found a few interesting tricks and combinations that way... Keeps them all sorted neatly on the computer without just being one giant mess... I wish you could show more than 10 per page... how about some options like 50, 100, 200...

amazing job, what a very talented individual... super impressed... -
you do that with the FX loop in the POD in each patch. When you want to go through the amp's pre section you include and activate the FX loop block in your patch. If you want to stay in the POD and bypass the amp's pre section don't put an FX loop block in your patch or just assign it to a foot switch to turn it on and off. :)

guess I am wrong then... my bad.

Pod Hd500x To Pa Monitors Muddy Tone. (master Volume)
radatats replied to dubaiblues's topic in POD HD
never heard of this particular problem... Make sure you read up on the various output settings and how they affect your tone and the DEP options for cab and amp too. That can help with muddy tone without other EQ. On the plus side your wife actually listens to your playing!- 6 replies

no worries... until the OP tells us what is actually wrong its time to move on...
-
yeah but not all of those 50000 patches were actually compatible with the POD HD500. The site actually works better now because the filtering is more effective...
-
Sorry but that doesn't have any effect on the issue and he is quite alright running straight into the FX loop of his amp to bypass the amp's pre section. We still don't know what kind of problem the OP is actually having anyways. You need to tell us what exactly is going wrong here.
-
I do it consistently with no issues. The potential noise problem is related to the particular USB hub and drivers on your PC. I don't have any noise problems with my desktop HP running Win7 with either the 1/4 outs to my SS amp and speakers or by L6 link to my DT25.

Converting Original Longboard To 2 Expression Pedals?
radatats replied to drader's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
That is cool... how did you connect your logboard to the HD Pro? Do any other functions work? I wonder if you could connect it to the HD500? Just curious... -
those are all the tones compatible with HD500. If you choose Pod Farm instead for example, you get 60427. Try selecting a different piece of gear to see more offerings...

the main reason for studio monitors is for the flat response necessary for mixing and recording, not necessarily volume. If you are happy with your volume and sound with the higher grade computer speakers and don't need to do heavy mixing stay with them. Good active studio monitors are not cheap. Cheap, lower grade, or poor quality computer speakers however, will neither sound good nor have any volume and a replacement solution should be sought. I chose to use a small stereo power amp with a pair of 8" Infinity 2 way bookshelf speakers off eBay. The whole lot was under $200 and sounds awesome. There is no one solution, just many options. Figure out what you really want to do first and then you can find what works in your price range. Don't rely on others to tell you what you "need"...

of course you can use HD Edit without the drivers. I do that with my laptop to work on tones away from the studio BUT I transfer them to a network location where I can access them with my desktop with drivers that actually connects to the POD. I am not sure the POD would be recognized without the drivers so you would probably not be able to load the tones to the POD. As far as the conflict, the POD takes over as your soundcard when attached. You can go into the sounds properties and change that however. You should be able to set your 1010 as the default playback device and even disable the POD for playback while keeping the POD as your default recording device. Hope that helps...

OK, good question. I checked the manuals and this is not actually covered like it is for the HD series. However, Line 6 customarily uses the left output to sum to mono and this is most likely the case here too. Just run straight from the left out to the amp. Another option is to use a mono effect last in your chain. That way the exact same signal will be on both the right and left output and you can go straight into your amp front end. You may want to consider setting the output to Combo Front as that will give you a special global EQ option to compensate for any coloring your amp adds to the tone. You could also get adapters to either combine the 1/4 outs or take the headphone signal to mono 1/4 inch. Y cables are not necessarily the best choice though as you may find by researching it. I would choose the other options myself. Have fun! :)

hahahahahahahahhahah!!! a major mod to the M9? nah... we are lucky to get updates that fix actual bugs without looking for a major routing mod to a lower tier piece of gear... (no disrespect) on the other hand, with a HD500 you can put the M9 in any spot you want, pre or post with the POD's FX loop and make it patch specific. Then again the POD already has all those effects built in... hmmmmm...

Dt-25 Effects Loop Bypassed When Using Xlr Out?
radatats replied to tankaviator's topic in DT50 / DT25
From the DT25 Pilot's Guide: Serial Effect Loop – Use the effect loop to send your audio signal to external effects processors and stomp boxes such as modulations, delays & reverbs. Note: Signal path is in series. When using the SEND, audio will not pass through to the poweramp without a connection back to the RETURN. Cabinet Simulated Direct Out – Provides a transformer-tapped direct output with cabinet simulation for studio recording or live performance without mic’ing your amplifier. The ground lift switch can be used to eliminate hum or buzz. From the DT Series L6 LINK™ Connectivity Guide: Direct Out The DT amplifier’s DIRECT OUT continues to function as an analog output with L6 LINK in use. Use of this XLR output is recommended to feed your “fully baked†POD HD + DT amp tone to an external recorder, mixing console, etc. Since the audio signal fed to the DT amp via L6 LINK is a mono signal, this Direct Out is a mono signal as well. Note that the Direct Out functionality differs based on the DT amp’s LOW VOLUME MODE (see page 4•3) and STANDBY switch settings: • Low Volume Mode Off, Amp in Standby = The DT amp’s Direct Out is disabled. • Low Volume Mode On, Amp in Standby = Direct Out signal consists of the “Full†(preamp + power amp) Amp Model with no analog amp. • Low Volume Mode Off, Amp On (not in Standby) = Direct Out signal consists of the “Preamp†Amp Model with the analog amp. • Low Volume Mode On, Amp On (not in Standby)= Direct Out signal consists of the “Full†Amp Model and the analog amp. Based on all the above: - serial FX loop is between preamp and analog power section. XLR out is (power section output) transformer tapped to give you the "fully baked" signal for the PA or recording. - seems safe to say that the only time it "may" bypass the FX loop is in LVM Standby. Can you confirm all your settings when this discrepancy occurs? Have you tried bypassing the preamp completely and just going straight in to the FX return to see if you get a signal? -
yeah that's right where their current models are and this looks like a big upgrade of the same thing so I figured around 45-50. I have the head too with my own 2X12 cab with Celestion Vintage 30's. I can only say that cab is sweet with the DT... a good cab is as important as the head and the POD. you'll find it...

not to pour salt on the wound but Android compatibility was NEVER mentioned or claimed on ANY Line 6 ad, brochure, spec sheet, announcement, anything... nothing, NADA... Only on forums where people who didn't like it or didn't have an Apple product was Android ever talked about. You weren't misled, you didn't read the fine print, or the big print it appears... The only person you should be pissed at is yourself for a dumb mistake. Why on earth you would want to brag about that to the world I don't know. Humble bragging about some "dope" pedals doesn't let you off the hook. Get some cheap iOS gear or send it back. Either way quit blaming Line 6 for your dumb lollipop...

I do not have an AMPLIFi but I have HD500, DT-25 and JTV. I can tell you they are amazing and the POD is an awesome tone machine despite the occasional tone snob that just wants a tube amp no matter what. BUT - it is a lot of work sometimes. It is not a simple plug and play, no questions asked piece of gear. It requires time to learn and a certain amount of individual investigating to see just how everything goes together. You will also need other gear to effectively jam at home ie. an amp, powered speakers, studio monitors, and a good set of headphones. By the time you are done you will have dropped a bunch of cash and may still be gassing for something to add on! For recording the POD is a musician's best friend. If you are really just looking for something for home use, something to jam with your favorite tunes, develop your chops, go with the AMPLIFi. If you decide to upgrade later you will still have a nice piece of gear to mess around on. ;)

If you would upload your patches to Customtone and share the link they would be much easier to troubleshoot as sometimes we can't see a minor detail that makes a difference. At least put up a patch that does not clip and one that does for comparison. if you change the file tail to .txt you can just attach them to a post using the full editor (more reply options).

From the USB Audio section of the HD500 Advanced Guide: Hardware Monitor Level: This slider independently controls the volume of your processed guitar tone output for monitoring (the signal fed to the device’s main outputs). It does not affect the level of the signal fed to your computer via the Record Send. This allows you to balance your guitar’s monitor level against the playback audio from your computer, such as when recording in DAW software. If using POD HD500 as the audio interface for recording into a DAW application, then your DAW may also offer its own “software monitoring†function. You may want to use the DAW’s software monitoring in some scenarios, such as if you want to hear your guitar signal processed with plug-ins on the DAW track. When utilizing DAW software monitoring, you’ll want to set this slider’s level to minimum to allow you to hear only the DAW software monitoring signal.

Interesting... what were you seeing for the weight? I was expecting it to be right around 45lbs, same ballpark as a DT-112...
