  1. 1. - if you program the 8 amp models they stay but none of the knob positions are saved. 2. - if you use the POD with L6 link, the POD controls the DT. The amp model in channel A controls the power section topology. You have all amp models available in the POD, each accessed through a different patch. You can set up 2 amp models in one patch, one in channel A and one in channel B. Each one responds to the virtual knob settings in the POD independently. The amp in channel A responds to movement of the physical knobs for channel A on the DT, channel B does not. If you disable the amp model in channel A, the DT switches to its internal channel B amp model and the current physical knob settings for channel B on the DT take over. 3. - They will both utilize the topology set by the amp model in POD channel A as long as it is not turned off. Channel B topology settings have no effect.
  2. I do that a lot too. I also picked up a second pedal on sale and the two are great. You can also use the knobs on the JTV to do the same thing. The manual says you can assign up to 50 parameters to each so the possibilities are endless...
  3. ordered saturday, got it wednesday. and it was made to order as all their cables are...
  4. I can only say that this cable is NOT stiff, very well made, touring musician caliber and you can order to whatever length you want... stop searching and try one...
  5. It's only for use in the studio/man cave... I am putting together a similar setup with a hard case from Rondo for portability and I will share when done.
  6. I had a hard time with acoustic from the DT but I came up with a solution that seems to work well. This patch works amazing with my DT25 head, 2X12 sealed cab with Celestion V30s and it should work fine with any other DT setup. It may not be perfect but it works with all 5 acoustic models. This setup provides the clean, unprocessed guitar signal from the Variax straight to the DT power section without ANY amp sims... I put a flip top in channel A, centered the mixers and then mute channel A. You can use any amp model in channel A, it is just a placeholder. I use it for low DSP. We are not running through the flip top at all. We are only using it to "lock" the DT from switching to the amp in channel B and to control the physical topology. By placing no amp in channel B and muting channel A in the POD we effectively send the clean "unamped" acoustic guitar signal straight to the DT power section through channel B! I set the topology to III in HDEdit and it just gets that nice sort of resonance you would expect from an acoustic. We also have to change the input to Variax-Same to ensure that our signal is passed to channel B. You may have to turn up the mixer levels for volume matching and add an EQ for tone shaping. I use a reverb in the chain too. This setup provides the clean, unprocessed guitar signal from our Variax straight to the DT power section without ANY amp sims. I also use this setup for synth tones through the DT. Place all your synth and FX blocks in the B path or the post mixer and you will get the pure synth without the amp coloring just like with a FRFR solution. Try it and let me know how this works. I just might save you some cash...
  7. I hate it when that happens! We always tend to overlook the simple things until the very end...
  8. Nice! I made my own too... keeps all my POD's connectors safe and has a main power switch right on top. I was always concerned with the relatively weak connectors on the POD... http://share.cx.com/7xcyKJ
  9. Ok so that was a pain after all. The patches from the video all had the .l6t tail and most of his other patches were in POD400 format. I saved them all as PODHD500 files and just made one set list. You can get them at this link: AndyParedes.h5s
  10. DT25 XLR out is mic level output and is dependent on amp volume, not constant. With L6 link, POD defaults to Stack/Combo Poser Amp mode so your POD XLR out feed wnn't sound as it does in Studio Direct. I have a DT25 and I love it but I also run through a Rocktron Velocity 300 into a pair of Peavey PA cabs and they sound awesome too... Still lean towards the L2t if you can afford it...
  11. There is an issue with the site and Line 6 was notified a couple of days ago about not being able to link to individual tones. They are working on it. You can still link to a profile to see all of a person's tones though... Here is the link to Andy's tones... http://line6.com/customtone/profile/AndyParedes
  12. If you are only looking for an on stage solution for church/worship band use and don't really plan on gigging much look for a quality powered speaker in the 10-12 inch range, many available for under $500. Go straight from the 1/4 outs to the speaker and send your XLR to the church FOH. You will be much happier in the end and so will your sound team... If you have the budget go for the L2t and be amazed... If you just plain have to have tubes, go for the DT25. Be aware you may still have issues trying to get a good stage sound and still send a good signal to the FOH due to the default output settings of the POD with the DT hooked up via L6 link. The tubemeister will be just so much more trouble to hook up in the end as will any 4 cable method...
  13. Previously discussed in other threads, check this out... http://line6.com/support/topic/4231-channel-volume-vs-master-volume/?do=findComment&comment=27929
  14. you can put any mono FX block as the last block in your chain to ensure you have identical signals on left and right XLR and 1/4 outs. See the link below for the full list of stereo and mono effects in the 500. There are a lot of good articles in the knowledge base. Don't just rely on the forums for answers. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects/pod/stereomono-fx-list-for-pod-hd-r567
  15. I got the 15 ft cable, $33 with shipping. Love it.
  16. I bought one of these and it is top notch professional grade, not stiff, great connectors and custom order to length. Each individually made in their factory. Around 30 bucks... http://best-tronics.com/guitar-cable/ethercon/variax.aspx
  17. probably... the support was planned to phase out a long time ago. The actual transition to Yamaha integration is a ways off yet due to the nature of the corporate regulatory process.

  20. really depends on your PC and your OS. There are many things to consider. Are you planning to record? You will probably want a decent USB audio interface. There are many out there but look for one with at least USB 2.0, SPDif, both Mic with Phantom power and line inputs, headphone outs, and midi. You should be able to find a bunch for less than $300. Do you understand that your HD500X is a great audio interface on its own? When you connect by USB it takes over as your sound card. Plug your computer speakers into the POD or use studio monitors or even a good headphone and you really don't need to buy anything else. You can record straight over the USB right in to all major DAWs. I haven't really used my audio interface since I hooked up my POD... It does everything I need. I find I only use my other interface for midi connectivity for my keyboard.
  21. not sure what you are looking for... it's pretty straight forward. L3 will configure itself based on the connection so all you have to do is build your patches. Unlike the DT, the L3 usually sounds best with the full amp models. PM me if you want. PS - 6032, F,R,T, - 152,352,452
  22. a slight variation I have found is learning to actually use the guitar volume! I have typically kept my guitar volume maxed and not bothered to use it in the past but I find it makes a big difference with the JTV. It truly is responsive with the various models and by lowering the guitar volume I can still pick a little harder without annoying piezo noises. I also find a lot of nuanced tones can be coaxed out of this rig with just some simple changes; you don't have to add tons of effects and eq. I am just the opposite... I am selling all my other gear with the exception of one backup guitar and this is the one rig I will keep until the knobs fall off...
  23. yeah ever since they redid the site individual tones can't be accessed directly... sucks...

    'output' Mode

while you can't have two output setting at the same time (ie XLR and 1/4) the POD will switch automatically depending on what is hooked up. For instance, my POD is set to studio direct for when I want to record or go through my Velocity 300 to the PA cabs in stereo but as soon as I turn on my DT with the L6 link it automatically switches to Stack Power Amp without changing anything and back again as soon as I turn the DT off. My only point is that a simple On/Off FS in your XLR L6 link would let you switch from your DT to your PA/FRFR for acoustic for example and back again without having to dig into your POD settings.
