  1. Here's another thought... Line 6 might just have created the perfect amp/cab for their competitors. There are plenty of good amp sims for iOS out there from Amplitube to the new Bias app. I see no reason why these can't just stream their output to AMPLIFI completely bypassing Line 6 software... That would give you a BT wireless solution. Still, the deal breaker is you have to have an Apple product to use it... http://www.positivegrid.com/bias/
  2. Supposedly they will have the Android app later this year... epic fail to not provide it at the rollout...
  3. While I really think this is a let down for most of us it probably is a big move up for a lot of beginning musicians and hobbyists. The price point is kept low by pushing a lot of the interface and system management off board to the user's own iGear. They also kept DSP needs low by using older modeling and saved more by not integrating a host of in/out options, no D/A or A/D conversions, etc. Trouble is that while this incarnation is disappointing, the concept has a lot of potential and I would not be surprised to see a professional version in the future. Same power section and speaker/cab options but with HD modeling as per the DT, the acoustic resonance DSP from the L2/3 series, M Series effects, professional in/out (XLR, 1/4, L6 link, VDI) and FX Loop. Manage all your patches and set lists from your iGear or Droid and everything cloud sourced. So where the DT was the perfect tube match for the POD HD, AMPLIFI HD would be the perfect stereo FR/FR match in a portable combo size package. If you need your pedals, bring your POD or floorboard with you too. L6 link could still allow you to expand by adding an L2/3 or sending a perfect feed to the Dream Stage. No reason the same cloud sourcing couldn't tone match for HD models too (but they absolutely HAVE to add Android capability or this thing will die a slow death!). Then you seriously could just grab your JTV and this one box, plug right in and be good to go. Great solution for solo gigs with backing tracks. Of course everything comes at a price. My guess is AMPLIFI HD150 comes in around $1200 and a $100 less for the AMPLIFI HD75. Anyone interested? :)

  5. so if you don't own Apple gear what are your options? what is the usb plug for?
  6. There are just so many unanswered questions... you can stream audio to the box so we know it is a power amp/cab. But you have to plug your guitar into the box, so where is the sim/fx taking place? Is it in the box? If so its pretty dumb not to be able to access it without your iStuff. Or is your guitar signal being sent to your iStuff for processing and sent back to the box for broadcasting? If so then why wouldn't they have utilized their existing Sonic Port to get a true wireless system? I can't imagine how they would build something so entirely dependent on you owning/using a separate Apple device and yet, here it is. Even if you hook up your floorboard, you won't be able to see what its doing without your iStuff. If it was a truly wireless system where I could keep it in the corner of the living room and plug into my iStuff over on the couch and jam that would be OK but I don't see it working like that. Not impressed...
  7. very strange that the POD HD and POD 2.0 are the only effects platforms still active but they seem to have incorporated the Vetta models into the iOS platform... Actually still not clear if the sims and effects are loaded on the Amplifi and controlled from the iGear or if the Amplifi is just a power amp/cab and the iOS app has the sims/effects and just streams audio via Bluetooth...
  8. Why Line 6, why? WTF are you smoking over there? Why if this is such a leap forward in amp/cab architecture would you not at least add inputs for our POD HD's either XLR or 1/4? Are you afraid we wouldn't want to lay out $850 for an L2 if we could get one of these for $500? I am just trying to figure it all out. A 150 watt stereo Soundsource cab with a 12" driver, 2 mids and 2 highs for $500 versus an 800 watt mono cab with a 10" driver and 1 high for $800... I would have liked to be able to compare them and then decide but you didn't give me that option...
  9. from what I see Line 6 has just created an iOS platform amp. This is not POD HD, its an iOS app with a dedicated cab. Hence all the references to the cloud and sharing sounds etc. Interesting to see what happens if you have a Droid. I wonder if the actual software and OS is in the cab or if it just receives the signal from your iPhone, iPod (?), iPad, etc... What a let down...
  10. “...or stream to them wirelessly from across the stage with your iPhone. I think that’s pretty cool†- Mission CEO, James Lebihan. So we won't need recording studios anymore, the NSA will already have a copy of everything you ever played in their database to check if any terrorists have you on their play lists... lol...
  11. Send BOTH XLR outs to the mixing board because they do not sum. Each sends only its own side of the signal. Send the left 1/4 out to your amp because it DOES sum; both left and right signals will then go to your amp.
  12. an option to select multiple tones to download at one time or all tones from a user name would be nice too...
  13. From what I have learned the POD HD500 is a remarkable tool that allows us to configure basically any type of amp model we want until it sounds the way we want it to. As far as the names of the models, I think we have to understand that it is just coding designed to replicate the gear in question and as good as the algorithms are, they aren't perfect. I really can't see what possible benefit another amp model could bring me. I would be happier with user IR's or more cab and mic options. From the sounds of this thread, a lot of users here would be much happier with a Kemper that actually physically profiles an individual amp model and captures its complete sonic signature. Thousands of profiles are available for download. Then again, its around $2000 instead of $500... Personally, I am still waiting for the new upgradeable finger models to be released... faster and with a wider stretch... lol...
  14. Try this patch as a starting point. You have to keep the amp in channel A on to hear anything in channel B. If you turn it off, the DT defaults to the internal B amp and we don't want that. FS1 switches between amp and no amp for your acoustic models by using 2 volume pedals set to zero. Remember the topology in the DT physical power section is set by the amp in Channel A no matter what is in channel B. Type I is very different from Type III even with an acoustic! Play around with it. Make sure you have input 2 set to same for this patch or you won't get any signal in channel B. This does work but I still have a lot to do to get a good acoustic sound from my 2X12 with Celestion V30's. I know its not perfect but its a start... http://line6.com/customtone/tone/258828/
  15. so mine was $899 and now I am pissed that I didn't get it for $699... lol... if what you say is right then actually, the $300 guitar so far is pretty good. I hope it stays that way... I have always rebuilt old guitars and made them players rather than spending a fortune on big names so if I find things I don't like I am not adverse to making changes. Guess I have been lucky with all my L6 gear as I have had zero problems except for a faulty master pot on my original Spider 210 after 10 years...
  16. got it bro... appreciate the clarification. I don't fingerpick so I probably won't notice those issues. Everything else so far is a pleasure to play...
  17. Cheap shots are uncalled for... my standards are no less than any other that just payed nearly a grand for a guitar sight unseen. So far I can honestly say I haven't found the slightest thing I could complain about, from fit and finish to setup to playability. Odds are the most likely to post on here are those that had issues. Unfortunate but true. To say those without issues have lower standards is total bunk... If something should later rear it's ugly head I will let you know but until then I am enjoying what I bought without complaint... thank you Sweetwater...
  18. so really you got nothing out? interesting, I would have liked to hear how they worked at lower volumes...
  19. the one thing nobody seems to have suggested is to uninstall the USB drivers and download a fresh install package. Try downloading direct from the downloads page instead of through Monkey. select Variax USB, all software, your OS and scroll to the bottom. You will see Drivers, Ver 1.0.7.2. Do a fresh install and reboot your computer. Now plug in your interface and see what happens. If you get lights proceed with Monkey... Hope it works!
  20. OK so you probably don't want to hear this but my suggestion is to uninstall the drivers for the usb interface and workbench hd. Make sure nothing is still lurking in the registry. I use a 3rd party program for that. Reboot and reinstall the drivers for the interface. Make sure you say NO when it asks if you want to keep your patches... After that I am sure you have the process down so there aint much more to do... wait for ticket response if it still doesn't work...
  21. This is a user forum, not a company forum. Everyone posting here is a fellow owner/user. We are willing to help where able but you don't get to DEMAND anything... if you want to send it back feel free. If you want to just try it again because you probably lollipopped it up somewhere, that's fine too... either way chill out and stop shouting...
  22. you definitely do not have the right usb interface. You should have gotten a separate sealed box with your guitar that had the battery, charger, cables, interface, allen wrenches and documentation. If you didn't get that or it wasn't sealed, you need to contact the seller immediately. They need to get you the right interface. edit - apparently not correct, see below. However, I just got my JTV-69 a couple of days ago and I got the "old" style...
  23. one other option is to try a new usb cable from interface to computer. This is NOT the guitar. Even without the guitar cable plugged in you should still have a green light on the end that connects to the computer and a red light on the guitar end. In fact you should have two red lights if the drivers aren't installed right. If you still have no lights after rechecking with a known good cable, it is almost certainly the interface. Open a ticket with Line 6.
  24. unfortunately nothing new or earth shattering there... in the end, if you can't build a good tone patch with one setup, you probably won't do much better on something else.
  25. This is all great info and food for thought. I was asking a lot of questions because these are tempting at that price point. I understand there are certainly better speakers out there but not at this price and it really rises to whether I can justify the extra expense. I have been looking at everything up to $1000 a pair and it is hard to decide. I currently have an ADC stereo graphic EQ into a Rocktron Velocity 300 stereo amp and a pair of old Peavey 115H passive speakers. One has developed a rattle I haven't sorted out yet and I am debating swapping the lot for a pair of good active speakers. Still I may just replace the LF drivers in the Peaveys and be done with it... But I am sure they are not true FRFR based on what has been stated here... Still, with the Rocktron and the Peaveys it does kick lollipop... a bird in hand as they say, might just save a grand...
