  1. isn't that what (Frequency Response: (±3 dB): 70 Hz - 19 kHz) means? Flat response within a 3 DB range from top low to high? Simply putting it in a graph won't change the specs. Should we be looking for better than that?
  2. Aha! So its not that they don't claim to be FRFR, more that they aren't really very good at it. I saw their specs (Frequency Range: (-10 dB): 53 Hz - 20 kHz, Frequency Response: (±3 dB): 70 Hz - 19 kHz). Average guy would think that is not bad. What would you recommend looking for instead? Or just rely on opinions from various forums/users?
  3. Really? They sure look like it... What am I missing? http://www.altoproaudio.com/products/ts110a
  4. Just got my new VDI cable from best-tronics... absolute professional grade all the way, solid, complete connectors on each end, rugged, flexible cable, marked with details, velcro wrap... about the same price as the Line 6 cable but individually made to order in their ISO 900 factory... these guys are the best... (no, I don't work for them or receive any benefits!) http://best-tronics....con/variax.aspx Manufacturing: All Guitar-Cable.com cable assemblies are made in Best-Tronics' modern 60,000 sq. ft facility in Tinley Park, IL U.S.A. Every cable is 100% tested for continuity and isolation of the circuitry, we do not lot test. There is lot code traceability for every component used in each assembly as well as any operator who worked on the assembly. All cables are designed and thoroughly tested for quality, durability, and sound by musicians before we add the product to our line. We use WBT Silver Solder and our operators are trained per IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard. Guitar-Cable.com does offer some high quality import cables, however each is designated clearly in the description as "Import" to distinguish from the rest of our U.S.A. made assemblies. Delivery: Every cable is custom made to order per your specific length requirement and usually ships out of our facility within 2-5 days. Cables orders can be expedited via a phone order for same day service at a 25% up charge. Bulk product usually ships the same or next day depending on what time the order is received. We ship UPS, Fedex, USPS, and offer pickup for local customers between the hours of 7:00AM and 4:30PM Monday through Friday (Saturday pickups can be arrange upon request).
  5. Agreed on Sweetwater's great service. However, I was surprised to find my 69 still had 1.9 installed as I was also under the impression they would load the latest firmware and test it. Still, no problems noted...
  6. I just got my first run through with the models on my red 69 from Sweetwater. I have to say very happy so far. It came with 1.9 so I played around with that first and then upped to 2.0. So far so good but can't say its a complete evaluation by any means. Tomorrow I will try the acoustic models. My 69 came with no noted problems so far. It looks gorgeous, really a great red. Plays well with no issues. However, as with all strat styles the volume knob is in an awkward spot for me. I will have to relearn hand position as I am constantly turning it down as I play. I may have to try that feature where you can lock the knobs in the 500. As nice as the ZZounds payment plans are Sweetwater gave me a $2k card and 2 yrs same as cash so that was a no brainer. First time with them, I used ZZounds for my 500 and DT.
  7. I just got a brand new, not scratch and dent, 69 from Sweetwater for $899... Wait for sales, clearances. You don't really need to drop $1500 for it. I have only played the mags so far and while it is not as hot a signal as my Schecter, it still sounds great. Much more to investigate this weekend... :)
  8. I just got my JTV-69 and have only been able to use the mags so far. I am very surprised to find them much quieter than my Schecter with stock SD pups or my 30 plus yr old Aria Pro... It's not even close... I am getting things charged and will try the models this weekend along with checking upgrades etc... Sweetwater says it is all up to date but we'll see. Anyone else notice that or is it normal?
  9. ok, just to clarify. Sound from POD through headphones without USB is good. Sound from computer through headphones without USB is good. Sound from computer through USB to POD to headphones is messed up. - try rebooting both devices - try reloading USB drivers for POD - try using a different media player and see what happens. There is no reason Media Player should have stopped working just because the POD was turned up. Were you also recording through USB at the time?
  10. more good info for fixing your own footswitches http://line6.com/support/topic/4487-footswitch-replacement-for-the-500/?do=findComment&comment=29367
  11. Tboneus nailed it for creating patches. For the DT I prefer just pre models. Let the DT do its thing. Don't rush it. Take your time and just have fun. I have some other patches on Customtone too.
  12. You are correct... my mistake. It must be a MONO block or amp. Stereo blocks such as Volume or Wah preserve the stereo separation. My description is also correct, there are multiple threads that talk about signal paths, please feel free to search them... With Guitar in input 1 and Variax in input 2 there will be no signal passed to path B without a MONO block of some type assigned to the Pre section.
  13. What you are describing is the normal operation. The signal from input 1 will only go to path A and the signal from input 2 will only go to path B. The only way to get them to "share" paths or crossover is to add a FX block or amp to the Pre section. - The first MONO block in the pre section will sum both signals, reduce the combined signal level by 6db and send the result to BOTH paths A and B. - If there is no block in the Pre section or you use a STEREO block (volume, wah, etc.) the signals remain separate allowing you to have two independent paths. (ie. guitar path A, vocal path B ) - If you want your guitar to go to both paths with no block in the Pre section, set input 2 to SAME. B)
  14. I have Celestion V30's in one cab and Emminence Guvnors in the other. I love them both but come back to the V30's. As Mikey says, try it, you'll like it...
  15. here is a trick for using dual amps with a DT that will do what you want. Place a volume pedal in front of each amp, both set to zero. Turn one on and the other off. Set both pedals to the same FS. When you step on the switch it will turn one pedal on which will mute that path and when you hit it again it will swap. You will only have signal flow on the channel with the Vol pedal turned off. ;)
  16. I use mine in the same manner as you describe, usb to win pc, Win 7, POD as sound card, record and playback with tracks, and there is no issue with the tuner. Also have found it easier to use software on the PC for tuning rather than trying to see it on the POD's tiny screen. I have attached a link to a free tuner plugin for use within your DAW that works really good. http://www.gvst.co.uk/gtune.htm You can use Savihost to open one vst as a standalone app and it works great with Gtune so you don't have to load your full DAW... http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm
  17. I am not clear on what you want to accomplish here. If you simply want stage monitor setup and plan to run XLR to FOH, stick with your current B208's unless they simply aren't loud enough. Those two side by side should give you what you want without going to the Mackie. You are asking for trouble switching to a combo setup as you will soon see that the output settings for good combo sound may not be compatible with good FOH sound. I would say to stick with a complete FRFR setup and use the B208's. No doubt you can find a better use for the cash... Now if you really just want a straight stereo amp rig and are willing to have it mic'd all the time, that is a different story. Again, not sure that you will gain any further improvement over what you have without going tube and that takes you where you may not want to be in terms of weight and reliability. Not to mention having to rework your patches... Food for thought... :)
  18. Just bit the bullet and ordered my JTV-69 from Sweetwater... feel like a little kid that just wrote Santa! Line 6 VDI cable out of stock so I ordered the VDI cable from best-tronics... hope its the right one. http://best-tronics.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?
  19. Save any patches you want to computer first, then do a complete reflash without saving patches when it asks you. When finished do the golbal reset and recalibrate again. Best idea I can suggest at this point.
  20. Doesn't really help the CD/MP3 input issue but I use my laptop connected by USB to play backing tracks and there are no volume issues at all. They do not need to be inserted in the POD signal path, they play independently. Added benefit is I can have HD Edit up at the same time for adjustments when needed. All in all, much better than trying to play with the controls and screen on my Droid... PS - I run both 1/4 outs to a small power amp to my passive monitors in my studio this way. Sounds great. I can always switch to headphones for silent ops.
  21. In a small studio or onstage setup with relatively short cable runs, unbalanced connections work just fine — although you'll still probably want to use balanced connections for your mics. Most of the time there's no real need to use balanced connections for your POD. Where balanced lines shine is in situations with long cable runs, especially ones carrying low signal levels that are subject to noise or interference. Like Charlie said, switch to the 1/4 outs at line level and you will really see the difference. No need to add another gain stage and potential source of noise or problems into a simple setup when it is not required...

    Wet Dry Rig

This setup will do what you want, a separate wet and dry signal from within the POD. The link below is a patch that sets up two separate paths within your POD. Modify them as you see fit but keep the mixer settings and do not add a mono effect after the mixer or you will lose the channel separation. As for outputs, each XLR sends its own separate channel and will not sum to mono. The only out that sums to mono is the left 1/4 and only if you do not use the right 1/4 as well. If you use both 1/4 outs they each send their own separate channel signal just like the XLR's. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/ - thanks to silverhead for the patch.
  23. actually Charlie, I believe it is only the left 1/4 out that sums both channels to mono. All other outs just send their respective channels.
  24. with any of those monitor choices you won't need a sub in your setup... it would just get too muddy... EQ will get you where you want to be... and they don't have to be pointed up at you. get or make some speaker stands, I made an awesome pair from 4" PVC, some flanges, plywood and sand for weight. under 20 bucks... google it... by the way, consider unpowered speakers and a small stereo power amp. I got really nice Yamaha 8" reference monitors off eBay for $75 and a small 40 watt power amp for under $100 running from my computer for mixing and playback and they are fantastic... No matter what you do you won't have Volbeat live in your bedroom at the levels you want but you can definitely get a great sound. Be creative.
  25. gunpoint is probably right. Based on everything you said and the fact that you don't intend to play out, take a look at some quality studio monitors rather than the generic powered speakers or amps. These will easily handle your guitar and your backing tracks and give you the full sound you are looking for. Look for something with at least 6" speakers to comfortably handle what you are playing. Here are four good choices all very similar specs, 8" kevlar speakers, bi-amped and under $500 a pair... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/compare.php?items=(LSR308|BX8D2|ErisE8|B3031A)
