JTV = James Tyler Variax modelling guitar! http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JTV693Td2/ Here is a good thread for different DAW's for recording... many have free demo's, full features for about $60 up to $500 plus... http://line6.com/support/topic/5542-favorite-daw-with-pod-hd/

yep, in the long run you will be glad you did, especially when you realize you just have to have a JTV! :D

I don't know if innovine's solution is real or not but I did the same things along the way and I have no issues between POD and DT stand alone so it might have been key. It takes some work to dial in a tone but it is absolutely worth the effort. I find simplicity is the key here. Start with just the default pre model you want to work with and nothing else. Zero all the knobs and reverb on the DT and use the POD knobs just like it was the real thing in the room with you. Definitely keep HD Edit up while you are doing this to keep track of everything. Adjust the cab DEP parameters, try different cabs and mics. Get a feel for what each one adds to the flavor. Finally add a little reverb. Once that is in range you can start to gently add compression or distortion to taste. Personally I change amps before adding too many pedals. Some other tips on things I fought initially but worked for me, keep the inputs to Guitar/Variax on 1 and Aux on 2. Same is a little hotter signal but is not really helpful in the end. The only time you need Same on 2 is for a specific dual path configuration like my DT acoustic patch. It is a mono amp so stereo signals will be summed in the end. Therefor I find the mixer is better centered than panned left and right, especially for dual amp patches. You CAN set up dual amp patches for the DT but the power section will only respond to the channel A amp settings. Play with the topology settings, they make a big difference and sometimes make or break a tone. You are not tied to the proper settings. Set the DT master as high as you can for a given volume but don't let the POD master go below 10-11 o'clock. The power section distortion will muddy the tone if the POD master is too low. I keep the POD on Studio Direct and just let the DT change the output to Stack Power on its own, no adjustments. Hope this helps. It is an awesome little amp but remember it is still just a 25 watt tube amp at heart and won't compete side by side with your Mesa rig. However, it will do the job 95% of the time without complaint and it will grow on you. PS - I understand you are looking to get the Behringer Ultratone KXD12 when it is released. I am very interested in your experiences with it and will probably be getting one too for a FRFR solution. It looks like a real giant killer... keep us posted...

Probably not going to be any X model for the bean. Prices are definitely attractive right now but you really need to be sure you realize this is really just for the studio. You will not have the extensive I/O options of the other HD models, no FX loop and there is no midi connectivity at all. You can connect an FBV controller so it COULD go in a pedal board but its mainly for the studio. Still, at $199 you can't go wrong for recording or home use... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PodHD/

dude, keep your offensive political opinions to yourself... stick to the guitar stuff ok?
-
you can use them both, just save them and drag and drop into HD Edit then re-save as HD500 files...

I have a suspicion you won't be well served with a dedicated acoustic amp in this setup. Since the L series is not in your range I suggest you consider other true FRFR solutions to complement the POD. This will allow you to fully exploit the HD acoustic capabilities while still being able to fully handle your electric tones with the Tele. Let the POD do all the heavy lifting. Check out this FRFR solution from Behringer. Far more capabilities than any of the amps you listed and a fairly comparable price. I think you would be very happy with this amp... http://www.behringer.com/EN/products/KXD12.aspx PS - this item is brand new so maybe not available just yet but it's $350 in the states... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KXD12/

Does anyone know of a way the HD500 can control the HD Bean? I can put an M5 in the loop and control it with midi but I can't see a way to do it with the bean. With current prices it would be a no brainer for me if it can be done...

Talk Me Into A Spider Iv 75 (for My Nephew)
radatats replied to RNRage's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
my first modeler was a Spider 210 with a floorboard and it served me well until my Flextone II. I think this will be a very happy kid with the Spider IV 75 and the FBV Shortboard MKII. Updated with the Infusion and Edit program for the computer he will definitely have his hands full and room to grow. I've heard good things about the Mustang but I know the Spider will do everything he wants to do. The 120 and 150 may be a little on the heavy side for him to lug around at this point. Wish I'd had a rich uncle when I was starting out! -
Maybe but more likely the little i at the end of AMPLIFi is homage to Apple iOS on which the technology is based... don't hold your breath for an Android version any time soon...

Are you chaining the two of them or just saying the 500X is better just by itself? I bet it would be pretty wild to put all your pre section effects in the 500X with the amps at the end of the chain then into the 500 for all your post section effects. You would have a million ways to set up the expression pedals too,,, and NEVER run out of DSP...

gotcha! I stand corrected! I don't know why anyone would buy a 300/400... not worth the small savings.

Well that explains a lot for our European friends... Apparently Google maps street view confirms the Line 6 Service Center is acually in the back of a "Quality" Chinese Food takeout joint... http://share.cx.com/FXvqpv :D  :P

I don't understand your issue... Do you have the Tap Tempo global control set right? Are you saying that you can't tap fast enough to get it to react? Remember it is a global setting... See pg 6-12 in the Advanced Guide. Tap Control Set this option to Control to have the Modulation speed of your FX2 models follow whatever tempo you "tap" into your POD HD, using the TAP button. Set this parameter to Don’t Ctl and the FX2 models’ Speed parameter can be adjusted to any speed you like, regardless of the current Tap Tempo. The TapCtl setting is a "global" parameter. Also see "Tap Tempo" on page 2•4.

He was using a JTV-59 Variax which is a "Les Paul" body type modeling guitar that works in conjunction with the POD. The Variax can actually model different acoustic guitars very realistically. I am sure 99.5% of the audience had no idea it was modeling vs the real deal nor did they care. It simply sounded great...

just seems like these boards have devolved into b*tch and wh*ne sessions more than help sessions... the hype and anti-climax for AMPLIFI didn't help anything...

It's not enough to just zero out the blocks, you would have to rearrange them all in the right order, put the empty amp block back to single path, zero the mixer and pan to 100, as well as whatever current input settings you had set up. What's the big deal anyway? Just go to Set List in HD Edit and drag an empty patch over to the one you want. Or you can create a default empty patch with your own settings. I just saved a whole empty setlist and when I want to start over I just open the empty set list and start from scratch. Damn, now we are going to lollipop because they didn't add a special button to delete a patch??? WTF... That's the main reason I never bought a Dumble... it didn't have a button to zero out the knobs. Who knew?

How To Let Dt25 Model The Preamp With Hd500 Connected Via L6 Link
radatats replied to NickTheGC's topic in DT50 / DT25
herding cats and skinning puppies... just do what you can to raise and level the volumes in the POD. The models are identical between the DT and the POD. -
That is it in a nutshell... Forget about the "tonal nuances in the third harmonic" and just play what you feel. It actually all sounds good and its really not about getting the perfect imitation of anything... as far as pushing air goes, maybe I should mic my PA speaker playing my modeler at full blast to get that pushing air tone but then it won't sound good until I actually play it back through my PA speaker at full blast so it can push some air... I guess you are referring to the difference between a USB recorded signal and a mic'd amp recording. Naturally the mic'd recording benefits from natural reverb and spatial reflections that post production would have to emulate for the USB. There is the magic that occurs when the speaker/cab combination actually converts the signal it is being fed to real audio. I'm not saying they are identical (sims vs real), just that the comparisons are pointless and getting too small to fret about. In fact my experience is the harder I try to manipulate my settings and add pedals, effects, etc to chase a tone, the further I get from where I want to be. Most often it is counter intuitive and I have to back off my settings a bit and let the tone develop.

If You Were Going To Use The Hd500x Effects Loop, What Pedals Would You Add?
radatats replied to boyce89976's topic in POD HD
TheRealZap, on 10 Feb 2014 - 12:27 PM, said: we talked about this on another thread today and this is a great idea with the M5 and midi so it saves with the patch... brilliant... -
so I guess even if I don't have an AMPLIFI I can use the app to tone match a song and then manually build the tone on my L6 gear right?
