I posted a patch some time ago for acoustic through the DT and I think its pretty damn close... its not impossible but I guess its not perfect either in any setup... Has anyone created any new acoustic guitar models with Workbench?

Dt25 Amp Models When Using Hd500x
radatats replied to buzzalad's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
fellas, you can use any standard 3 pin XLR cable to connect using L6 link. If you can get a good AES or DMX 3 pin cable even better, especially for long cables. When you are using the POD and the DT together, just forget that the DT has any preamps in it and set up everything in your POD. The DT will only provide the power section in this setup. The POD does not send anything by midi, it is a unique digital signal that tells the DT how to configure its power section according to what you have in the POD. The POD will AUTOMATICALLY reconfigure its output settings when connected by L6 link and you can't change it. Therefore, patches made for the DT with L6 link should GENERALLY use the PRE models only rather than the FULL models. For starters, place all your tone shaping effects (Wah, compressors, distortion,) in front of the amp and your time based (chorus, delays, reverbs) after the mixer. Once you get comfortable with how they interact you can begin to rearrange them to see how they interract and what differenct things you can accomplish. Without the L6 link, you can just run your POD output into the FX return on your DT but you will lose the reconfiguration aspedt that you get with L6 link. You probably won't even notice it but you should be aware anyways. Hope this helps. -

is it true to say that the amp models are from the POD X3 family but the effects are from the M Series family? -
Hurry Please, I Want My Decent Strat Back
radatats replied to Melissiah's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Hellyeah! cool brother... thanks for the heads up... -
the DT models are the same as the POD HD models. Update your firmware and use the DT Edit program you can download from the sticky post in the DT forum. Download and read all the DT and POD manuals and you will learn what you need to know. Search this site too, these same questions have been asked and answered over and over and over and...

Hurry Please, I Want My Decent Strat Back
radatats replied to Melissiah's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
too bad there isn't a way to share custom guitars just like POD patches... or is there? -
No. The output setting is global. That was something I was unable to resolve, good tone from the DT with L6 link and the FRFR with 1/4 out at the same time. If someone has a solution, let me know...

What Do You Use Your Jtv For?
radatats replied to the29band's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I'm like you, dumped a bunch of mid range guitars for this one player. So far it has met and exceeded all my expectations. I have 2 minor complaints, the tremolo arm is loose in the socket and there is an annoying buzz at certain frquencies (hardware, not audible through the amp or recording) that I haven't tracked down. Other than that I absolutely love it. It is a whole extra layer being able to change guitars and tunings at the push of a button. As a matter of fact I just put my collection up on eBay. I am keeping one backup but the rest is going to recharge the account. Might be a JTV 59 in the future here... -
Very nice, well played and constructed...

TRS (tip ring sleeve) carries two separate signals, stereo audio, or operates two separate switch circuits... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CSS110

waste of time for a DT...

I don't know about the latency but I just wanted a method that didn't involve the POD FX loop. Frees up a block and I don't have to worry about signal drops or the extra noise...

Has Anyone Tried To Put A Maxon Od808 In Front Of Pod Hd Pro?
radatats replied to leandrocarvalho's topic in POD HD
yes -
I created this patch for using 4 cable method with my Variax without using the POD FX loop. Works great! Gives you all 8 FX blocks to use for anything you want. Variax-->POD-->Right Out-->Amp Guitar In-->Amp FX Out-->POD Aux In-->Left Out-->Amp FX In. Set POD out to Line, POD Master up full. Adjust Mixer to set correct levels for preamp and power amp inputs. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/274440/ ** Customtone sometimes changes input settings - be sure input 1 is Aux and input 2 is Variax **

I think a lot of new players are ill served by starting with this or a modeler in general. I think you need to start on the real thing and learn what the knobs and tweaks do so if and when you do move to a modeler you have a foundation from which to work. Without that, too many come to find they have no idea what they are doing with all the options available with today's gear. A good modeler can make life easier and improve workflow if you know what you are trying to do but coming into it blind its gotta be daunting. Just a thought...

Ok, so the FX loop send is stereo and it says use a TRS plug. But what if I want to send a mono signal out? Do I need a TRS adapter to get both channels to go out? If I use a mono plug, does it sum to mono for me or will I only be sending one channel? I can't find any documentation on it so if anyone knows for sure, I appreciate the help...

I think they have embarked on a path to serve the entire range from beginner to pro. They started with the Spiders for the beginner and developed up to the HD line. Then they put the whole dream rig together. More new ground with the dream stage and the L series speakers. Now they reinforced the beginner line with quality easy to operate gear designed to reach a new generation of players. I expect they will have something new for us along the way to expand the HD line and take it to another level...

but it has a POWER SWITCH!!!!!!

DT knobs will only sync with the amp in channel A. If you turn off the amp in channel A, the DT will switch to its internal channel B amp and whatever knob settings you have.

When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
radatats replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
Just scored the amp I was looking at on eBay. 50 watt made in USA Crate VFX 5112. All tube 1X12 combo, 4 12AX7, 2 EL34, 2 channels with FX loop. Needs a good work over, new tubes and a speaker and ready to rock baby. Will use the HD 500 in 4 cable method for effects and wah only and to power my JTV 69. If this bad boy is half the amp as in many of the YouTube vids I am gonna be one happy camper... -
I use the Line 6 one, got it on sale at Sweetwater. I love having 2 pedals... definitely worth it. There is a glitch with it though detailed in another thread somewhere where it doesn't have a full pedal travel. It goes to 100% at about 75% pedal travel. It is not usable as a smooth change you can easily pause mid stream but it does transition nicely from one extreme to the other. and you can tie up to 50 parameters to each pedal...

When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
radatats replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
yep I read the whole link and got some good pointers. I don't want to use modeling with this rig, just the two channels on the amp. I need the POD for effects and my JTV 69. Should be no DSP limits either! -
When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
radatats replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
great topic. I have been using Line 6 exclusively for a dozen years now... I love my DT25 as a tube amp but it is still a modeler. There is no doubt the POD/DT combination is awesome but there is magic in an all tube amp. I am looking to pick up a 1x12 combo for jams and will not use amp sims. I plan on using the HD500 in 4cm for the effects, volume, wah only. I really want to hear from you guys that are using it that way and your experiences, good and bad... things to watch out for, things to avoid... thanks!
