  1. pianoguy is right. It's not going to be easy to just pop in a cab sim and start recording. I'm old school with my Marshall and PODHD. I put an SM57 mic in front of the cab and record it. But any which way you do it will work fine. Just gonn'a take some tweaking to get the sound you want.
  2. I just went through this a few months ago. Said the same things as you. After a month the newness wore off and the PODHD was still better. Good luck...

Funny you should mention that. As I tested my tone in a mix, it sounded better the way I had it originally. It's amazing how much difference your tone can be by itself or with a full band. Oh well, guess I'll go another year without tweaking it again. Maybe by then the PODUltraHD will be out.
  5. I had one that did this and it turned out to be a bad power supply. If a Global Reset doesn't work then return it if you can. Otherwise check your power supply.
  6. Pair of Marshall JCM900 amps and speakers. Getting tired of lugging around heavy gear but there's something about a the roar of 4x12 cabs powered by tube amps.

Hey I play in a Black Sabbath Tribute band. The guys want me to learn to play left handed SG but I told them "No" when they said I had to cut off my finger tips too.

I was a little bored today and decided to revisit one of my hi gain tones. I only adjusted Res, Thump, and Decay. Wow, this had a bigger effect than I remembered. I had adjusted these before but forgot how important they are. Maybe not tweaking them for a year and playing a lot gave me a better appreciation of what they do. Reducing Res really got rid of some left over fizziness and reducing Thump and Decay really tightened up the tone. I just wanted to pass this along. Sometimes it's hard to remember all the things you forgot you almost knew.
  9. Very nice. Really shows off what a $500 modeler can do. I'm sure Kemper and AXE would hate this.
  10. Studio Direct, Combo Stack, and all the other settings are just different EQ curves. Now that we're getting a Global EQ in the next firmware (that doesn't take an FX slot) you will have the ability to do what you want to do. Having Line6 come up with a setting that sounds great is like asking them to have presets that sound great, and we know what happened there.
  11. Same tone on both. With the X version of either the 500 or Pro you might squeeze in one more effect. The Pro has a few more output options.
  12. IMO - Probably the biggest reason the bean isn't as popular as the other units is because of the 4cm method most people seem to use. The bean can do the 4cm method but it's a little tricky to configure. Also when using the bean in the 4cm method, you lose stereo capability. Which most people don't seem to use live anyway. I personally use the pre models on the bean and go into the FX return on a pair of Marshall amps in stereo and don't use the 4cm method. It's a lot cleaner configuration because all my cables are behind the amps and only 1 cable to a footswitch on the floor. There's a nice stand for the bean from Line6 that holds it on top of the amp and a nice padded case for transporting. My only complaint is: I wish it had a midi connection like earlier beans did. I already owned a nice midi pedal board but had to buy the Line6 FBV pedal board for the HD bean. I was surprised when they stopped manufacturing it. Everyone seems to want floor boards now.
  13. I'd really like to hear what fixed this...
  14. I have 2 beans. One is brand new in the box as a backup. When they stopped producing them I wanted to make sure I had a spare. They're the same as the HD500 and Pro, just no FX loop, no midi, and no Variax connection. They're still available for a good price on eBay, either used or brand new B Stock.
  15. Hey KennyDRock, how about telling us what you did to fix it ?
  16. Yep I opened it up and didn't see anything obvious.
  17. Yeah, same thing happened to me and mine's still broke.
  18. If you can, find a local Line6 Authorized Repair center. I know the one near me was very reasonable.
  19. I tried BIAS. If it sounds better for you then that's great. I was impressed with it at first then realized quickly that it didn't sound any better and would be way too costly and clunky to use live.
  20. This is funny. For a long time I see a bunch of complaints about how Line6 should release model packs for the PODHD and charge for it. When they finally do, I see a bunch of complaints about them charging for model packs. There's no making people happy...
  21. I was hoping for a Global EQ on each patch but I can see your point. What I wanted was better EQ (not in percentage) that didn't take up a slot.
  22. A PODHD into internal laptop speakers is like driving an airplane on the highway. Yeah you can do it but it'll suck.
  23. Not only is it sad but I've seen too many people spend way too much money on high end gear then didn't know how to work an EQ properly. It'd sound great on their $20k monitors at full volume then sound like crap on the $12 ear buds.
  24. Buy the damn PODHD it's great. Your choice is this or $2200 for Kemper or $3500 for an AXEFX. Or even more money for the real thing. Or wait forever for technology to stop evolving and do nothing.
