  1. you could always update through the pod.... just couldn't use workbench.
  2. mk1 vs mk2, mk2 added one function button and usb connectivity for updating some amps or using with PC. same basic controls.. mk1 screen is green and a little larger than mk2 which is orange. the express just changes from 4 presets in a single bank, and wah and tuner access (usb is the diff between mk1/mk2 express)
  3. it also features the most non-cohesive wild west of software implementations and hardware.... just saying the iphone poularity with manufacturers and software developers alike is because of the consistency in software and hardware etc... seeing as we're only talking about a wireless bluetooth connection in this instance, i think it's likely an app will happen at some point... also important to remember that we're only talking about guitarists with phones/tablets... not the population as a whole.... just saying.... that could make the percentages change significantly.
  4. try googling slimdrivers.... then download and run.... it will help make sure that your chipset and other drivers have the latest upgrades... and sometimes that makes all the difference.
  5. Sounded to me like he meant mk1 floorboard. There is a button difference not critical. But it is a difference.
  6. for what its worth.... i agree it could have been done better.... i just think that the timeframe between now and release indicates that it isn't going to happen for whatever reason...
  7. gee imagine that... you disagreed with me... that's abnormal... seriously... they have different responsibilities... and sure they could talk... but if they haven't answered you 3 years after release.... well they apparently are either too busy working on it to respond... or they are working on the nextgen or... whatever. you could have been a professor of EQ by percent at this point with only a fraction of your moan time dedicated to the topic. but i get it... it's more important to you that it works how you want it to... than it is... that it just works... anyway... i'm not going to engage in another epic internet battle about the same topic... i acknowledge your viewpoint and i expressed mine... groovy? probably no more groovy than it ever was... but groove on regardless.
  8. Support tickets go to support personnel. They will have no idea why developers did what they did and they won't have an answer for you. But go ahead and let them tell you that.
  9. Yes, that functionality will not be added to the 500x, you could slightly downgrade to the 500 (non x) and it will work. the 500x was released after the original variax workbench had ceased development.
  10. like when they replaced the iconic red bean with the black bean.... or was that just chili night at L6 HQ? it all starts to blend together after a while....
  11. I usually end up driving the Ferrari, it's not bad... but the Lamborghini has better steering.... but silverhead seems to keep that one for himself.
  12. there are so many different aspects and so many tutorials video and otherwise... try not to get overwhelmed and approach it in smaller pieces.
  13. step 1: get rid of ASIO4ALL step 2: get the correct Line6 Drivers step 3: come back and ask for support, when using supported drivers.
  14. because the old workbench is 10 years old at least, and they are no longer maintaining it... especially when you break down the numbers..... meaning how many gen1 variax owners own 500x's that's just one of the trade-off's you make when staying with older software/firmware.
  15. nope, they only toggle. I've read other requests for separate on and off commands that's how i know. i don't use the midi much myself
  16. it cannot be upgraded to 2.5x for free. for a 2.5x upgrade you need to buy NEW one of the pod studio models. there are no other devices that come with any version of pod farm.
  17. works just fine, there are function buttons on the newer one that switches into looper mode. you can certainly control the looper with the MKI model... you just may have to go to the rack unit to turn it on. i can't confirm, but that's my understanding.
  18. you just need to accept 1.7x as your firmware of choices... limits and all.... or embrace 2.x and enjoy the new features... you won't be getting the option to have some of this and some of that.... they are different... and they are what they are.
  19. they aren't screwing you... if you like 1.71 stay there... problem solved. you still got 100% of what you liked and what you paid for... it's your "refusal to compromise" that is screwing yourself. I and others happen to like the latest update (other people don't...) it's a subjective topic and a personal choice. i personally don't want "screwed" into accepting the old models because of your preference... and they certainly don't want to maintain both sets as downloads.. they are significantly different.....
  20. for mac: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=3144 for pc: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=3143
  21. have you updated the pod? how about resetting the globals? (hold left while powering on)
  22. You are absolutely correct. the old workbench will never work on the X models.
