  1. the cable can affect the sound... add hum and other artifacts... certainly good to try another cable. you can make the sounds match... i personally have no interest in babysitting anyone through the process as it's been a long tired debate with many... and many have figured it out... some haven't... just use it however sounds good to you... noone is going to be able to simply give you a tone that will match because of the global settings that don't come with the patch... the input settings, cab selection, preamp vs full, to a lesser degree cable, etc and everything else factors in.... not looking for an argument... i do not accept the challenge to make your amp match your pod... as i said... been there done that, and it's up to you.
  2. does monkey show an ESN associated with the pod xt live? that's usually the biggest factor when it comes to authorizing model packs. being that these ones are factory though, it may not matter. the latest version being 3.01 though... so you'll probably get a ton of fixes etc... and possibly the model packs by upgrading. download the upgrade here: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=1224 connect via midi, and then use monkey to flash from file.
  3. you can still flash the latest update using midi. I'm obviously in NC, but there is always the possibility that you have a physical issue with the port, or a bad cable.
  4. yes thats normal.. subwoofers ONLY reproduce the low end sounds.
  5. the answer has nothing to do with the FBV and everything to do with what you are plugging the FBV pedal into... which pod?
  6. as long as you've never hit the save button... move to another preset and then back and it will restore the original settings... there is no way back if you hit save... computer or not... unless you saved it as a file.
  7. yeah as long as you're plugging the guitar into the amplifi you should be fine.
  8. basically i was saying that if you play guitar through those apps, and expect to hear it on the amplifi... you'll likely find the latency/delay unbearable and unusable....
  9. Much like i'm sure you know many things i don't.... I might know a bit more about this than is public. sure, i'm optimistic... but my statements aren't based on pure optimism.
  10. those apps may be useful for playback of backing tracks... but those apps tend to process the sound on the IOS device... and amplifi does not, so you wouldn't be able to use amplifi as a monitor for those apps particularly.
  11. like any factory, they probably just do things in batches.... more efficient that way... so they are probably on a production schedule somewhere to be built. it was never something that anyone carried a large amount of stock on. I think it will eventually come back in stock... but doubt it is high priority for them, and probably will be slow to come back. same thing happened in the not so distant past and ebay was the only way to get them for at least 6 months if i recall correctly.
  12. they are out of stock, but still listed, so they will likely come back in stock. https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=98-034-0105
  13. another point... you cant use airplane mode as it will also disable bluetooth. but you probably already knew that.
  14. It's expected and they are planning to add the functionality. No updates as far as where their plan lies at the moment, or the timeframe. From the information i have this functionality and expectation will be met. We've all had to be alot more patient than we wanted to be of course... but this will happen. (information from multiple reliable sources, and NO, i cannot elaborate)
  15. well this was just a way to record the drums... you have to do it for every tone... but unless you have a mixer in the loop with the out plugged in as well... you will ONLY hear the drums... all the inputs will be ignored otherwise... perhaps i misunderstood the question... my suggestion was merely for recording the drums solo.
  16. not possible... however you should be able to add an effects loop at the end of your chain and plug the drum machine into the return.
  17. the original variax was released in 2003, the current software will still be available for download, and there are a number of ways to use it. Other users have reportedly had it working on mavericks without issue, but there is always bootcamp, parallels, other VM software, or even a 10.8 or lower version of the mac osx. I've explicitly seen other users proclaiming working software on mavericks, so it's likely that you just need to get Java correct under the hood.
  18. The answer now is No. if anyone says they know anything about a future update they're lying unless they have the Line6 Logo on their name (Highly unlikely)
  19. should be as simple as plugging it in, as long as your current with the drivers and gearbox, then you're all set.
  20. i would use 1, if you want backwards compatibility with your X3. but if you're trying to edit tones etc.. you still need gearbox. some nice bonuses in pod farm 2+, but you cant get those bonuses to your x3... if that matters.
  21. they can likely be bought... but they did come with the amp... FYI. i don't know the specifics on acquiring them after the fact... might contact Line6 and ask? http://line6.com/company/contact/
  22. not really... there is even ubuntu studio which is a distro made entirely for music creation.... also mac osx is linux based, as well as the new chromebooks.... its more than a server thing... but not quite mainstream.
  23. you're right... i was assuming Flextone III and now that you mentioned it... i don't see the III anywhere! oops.
  24. for sure uses FBV pedals... the FB4 won't work... i used it with a longboard, shortboard mkii, and express mkii
  25. Yeah 2.0 is the latest... oddly enough the DT25 firmware doesn't mention the AC30 fix, while the DT50 does. The DT50 deals with the boost as a tube... the DT25 responds to the same midi command for the boost, but is solid state. you might check the midi chart and add the boost command to a footswitch just to see if that's what you're experiencing... I don't have a DT25, so i can't check for you, but it would not surprise me if this is just a firmware bit that didn't get picked up for the DT25 and requires an update. I believe that the issue existed on the AC30 from release to 2.0, so it took a while to see that fix. overall not anything you can't work with tone wise... but the artifacts you're experiencing aren't playable... just saying if the amp stayed one way or the other, you could dial in around it.... if it's jumping then not so much.
