  1. Do the pulldown menus like this, and the latest version of HX Edit will be the first thing on the list:
  2. I would open up a support ticket. Line 6 will send you a screened replacement that will be silent. The FX Loops on mine (which I got directly from Line 6) are completely silent (within reason). I say within reason, because if you put an FX Loop block before a block that adds gain, you are increasing the noise floor of the signal chain. Basically, going the FX Loop's converters increases the noise floor slightly. This isn't necessarily unexpected. This happens on the Helix as well. But it shouldn't be noisy to the point of being unusable. I have the Decibel 11 Loop Expander in one of my loops, and I run multiple ODs in front of the FX Loop block in many presets. It's definitely not 12dB's of noise added.
  3. Dude, let it go... Three years now you've been harping on this... Here you go, though...
  4. If you're plugging into actual tube amps, it sounds like you're probably sending them too hot of a signal. Are you using amp modeling on the Helix? Or are you just using the Helix for effects? You'll want to make sure you have the 1/4" outs set to instrument level. Turn the large volume knob up all the way and the input pad off, and that will give you unity gain with everything in the Helix signal chain bypassed.
  5. Hitting the Bank Up/Down switches temporarily takes you to Preset View so you can select a new preset.
  6. Are you sure the presets you purchased are for the Stomp? Only presets specifically made for the Stomp will work.
  7. No, it would work if both were connected to the same computer, but the Stomp isn’t a USB host.
  8. What type of amp are you using? Is the noise a hiss, like a white noise, or is it more of a 60-cycle hum? Is there any additional noise if you plug the HX Effects just into the amp's front input?
  9. There can only be one digital output active at a time, and the USB audio connection is serving as both a digital in and out whenever it's active even if you aren't using the output in your case.
  10. No, the iPad simply acts as a controller. Streaming real-time audio to the iPad wouldn't work because of latency issues.
  11. You can change the note value and BPM on a snapshot per snapshot basis, so you should still be able to obtain whatever delay time setting you want in a snapshot. You just have to convert from milliseconds to BPM. For shorter delay times, you may need to use a smaller note value.
  12. The Stomp works great as an FX only platform. It really just depends on what level of control you want within a preset. On the HX Effects, you have six footswitches to work with, and you can switch between all footswitch modes via the footswitches. With the Stomp, there’s only three footswitches, and there are limitations as far as switching between modes.
  13. Connecting to a hub while using edit or streaming audio is probably less problematic than trying to do the update through a hub... In theory, hubs shouldn’t be a problem, but historically, they seem to cause a lot of problems. If yours is working, that’s great.
  14. The light and the actual tempo can get misaligned... They’re controlled by different clocks, so they can drift. The light is really just there to give you a quick idea of the tempo.

    That's it???

Yes, that’s pretty much what you’re saying... You said the behavior of certain customers is “a real turnoff for Line 6” for you. How else should that phrase be taken?

    That's it???

How in the world is Line 6 responsible for how its customers act?

Quality post... Would read again. Seriously, though, there's a lot of stuff going behind the scenes with this update that's setting the table for better things in the future. The GUI couldn't support a strobe tuner previously because the refresh rate of the screen wasn't high enough. This update addressed the refresh rate, thus making something like the strobe possible. There are other features in the future that could make use of that... Think of this update as more of a maintenance update than anything else. It's like getting the oil changed in your car - not sexy, but necessary.
  18. Well, all the modeling algorithms are exactly the same on the Stomp and Native. The main difference in your case would be the interface you’re using for Native.
  19. That’s the correct version. The original editor, which was just called “Helix”, looked different. Now HX Edit and Native look pretty much identical.
  20. If you’re going through the factory presets, be aware the first bunch of preset banks are all effects-only with no amp or cab modeling, so if you play through those direct, they’ll sound bad. They all have “FX” in the preset name.
  21. The thing about the Disaster Area Design products is that they're built around the idea that there are different pre-made templates for different products. Some of them have modes that allow you to program the switches with certain CCs or PCs, but the DPC doesn't allow that as far as I can tell. There is a Line 6 M13/M9/M5 mode, but, unfortunately, the Stomp uses different CCs for functions than the M-series. I expect DAD will update the firmware with templates for the Stomp soon, but right now, I don't think there's much you can do.
  22. I know that hitting the tap switch re-synced the LFO, but he seemed to be saying that the CC64 doesn't work. This isn't something I've ever tried to verify, so I guess I believed him. If you're saying it works, that's great!
  23. The Variax is not being abandoned in any way, shape or form... It's just that the Stomp was not designed for that particular use case. The Stomp was designed to provide Helix-level modeling in a small form factor that could fit on pedalboards or be thrown into a gig bag. I mean, I do get how it would be convenient for Variax users to have tiny all-in-one rig. I just think those users don't represent enough of a market to justify trying to squeeze a VDI port in. I actually think that adding proprietary inputs on devices can backfire on companies. There are many users who have no interest in buying a Variax, so from their perspective, they may not the like the fact they were paying for an extra input that they're never going to use.

Isn't that what the Darkglass B7K (the Obsidian 7000) is?
  25. I don't think Line 6 is going to have a solution to your issue. At the moment, I don't think there's a way to re-sync the LFOs via MIDI. It might be something that can be changed in the future.
