  1. It's not really a matter of using the pedal too much. It's just that on ones that were built with the metal housing that was stamped incorrectly, it's not a matter of if, but simply a matter of when the pedal will break. I would think it's relatively rare for people to have multiple units that have the flaw, but as with anything when there's a percentage of bad units out there, there will always be people who are unlucky and get multiple failed ones.
  2. Than you're still running 2.52... You probably need to uninstall that version before installing 2.60. It seems that some Mac users have to do this for some reason.
  3. It's just a standard IEC cable... Nothing special about it at all.
  4. There’s no batteries in the Helix.
  5. The VDI input would increase the current draw quite a bit, and it just wouldn’t easily physically fit on the pedal without removing something else. Compared to the total number of people who use Line 6 processors, the number of Variax users is actually pretty small.
  6. No, there is no Command Center in the Stomp, so you can’t assign MIDI commands to footswitches like you can on the Helix or HX Effects. It will send a PC message (the one associated with that preset) when you change presets if you want, but that’s it. It’s designed to be controlled by MIDI, not to be a MIDI controller.
  7. In short, yes, you could do this. Probably the easiest way would be to set Play View to Scroll Mode and set FS 1 and 2 to be Snapshot Up and Down. Then FS3 would be tap/tuner by default.
  8. The feel will depend on a number of factors. Even though the models and algorithms are exactly the same in Helix as they are in Native, the Helix hardware has a very good input section, and when you're playing through the hardware, latency is a non-issue. While playing through an interface and live monitoring through a plug-in, latency can very much be an issue. Given the exact same input, Helix and Native will respond in exactly the same way.
  9. Yep, it's because of the tariffs.
  10. You can record directly to your mobile device via USB. I believe the Spider V is a compliant iOS audio device, so it should just show up.
  11. Try a different USB cable and/or port if possible. That's the first step. You can also force the Helix to go into update mode by holding down footswitches 6 & 12 when starting up. So I would try that and then opening Line 6 Updater.
  12. You're not required to register the product to use HX Edit, update the firmware, or anything, really. You need to register it to get the extended warranty, though. For all the other stuff, you just need to have a Line 6 account.
  13. The MIDI clock doesn’t control when the LFO starts. It just controls the tempo. If you hit the tap switch once that should restart the LFO.
  14. Yes, you can any effects in any block, and there's no limitations* as the number of instances you can use as far as having effects from the same category or the same effect even. *The one exception is that you are limited to having one 2048 sample or two 1024 sample IR blocks per preset. Also, there is a DSP limit. So you may not be able to put, say, four DSP intensive reverb blocks in one preset.
  15. The HX Effects has no audio over USB functionality. The USB port is for updating, connecting to the editor, and MIDI over USB only.
  16. There have been several updates released since the last manual revision. Line 6 generally only releases new manuals for major updates, so the next one will be with 3.0. You can see what’s been added by looking at the firmware release notes by using the Downloads tab here (just put Helix in the first pulldown menu and flash memory in the middle one). The Bleat Chop Trem model was part of the 2.30 firmware update, fwiw. As far as the ones you’re seeing in the manual and not in that menu, not all the modulation effects are available in mono. All of them will show up in the Stereo submenu.
  17. I'm guessing this is speech-to-text gone awry... If you're asking if you can use the XLR outs from Helix into the top input jacks on the Powercab, the answer is yes.
  18. Just to double-check, are you actually putting into Analog Bypass mode by hitting the Mode and Tap switch at the same time? Simply having setting the Bypass Type parameter in the Global Settings menu and bypassing all the effects won't make it going into Analog Bypass. You actually have to hit the Mode and Tap switches together to do that.
  19. Huh? The PC's L6 Link input will only work with a digital signal. The signal coming from the Helix's XLR outputs is analog. The L6 Link/AES/EBU port on the back of the Helix is a digital out, so that's what you'd use to connect to the PC's AES/EBU (L6 Link) jack.
  20. What does it sound like if you run signal through the unit with it powered off? That should should the same as the Analog Bypass setting.
  21. On the unit itself, you can copy one snapshot from one footswitch to the other by touching the first footswitch and then while keeping your finger on the footswitch, touch the footswitch you want to copy it to. It's not clear to me, though, if this is what your wanting to do. It sounds like perhaps you're wanting to make a new preset based on the Friedman Dirty while using the Friedman Clean as a template. In that case, you'd do what @DunedinDragon mentions above - create a copy of the original preset and change out the amp model.
  22. There's no left-handed Variaxes currently in production, no.
  23. No, you would either need to use an external transformer or you would need to pick up the power supply that will work with the higher voltage: https://www.thomann.de/gb/line6_px1.htm
  24. All of the factory presets for the PC+ are set with the level parameter pretty low, like somewhere between -16dB and -14dB. You can adjust that to go as high as +6dB. Simply press the Select knob on the PC+, scroll down to the Level parameter, press the knob and turn it up. I would start at 0.0dB, as going higher can make it pretty easy to get the clip light to come on. Once you do that, you should have plenty of volume.
