  1. Not a bad approach really. The Fizz-less setlists. As a set of stock presets. This isn't a bad idea at all really. It could help those that want it, and can be easily ignored by those that don't.
  2. My Helix, and Batman are never in the same room at the same time. My Helix often is hard to find at night, and it comes home with scrapes. Some guy name Lucius Fox keeps leaving messages.. Could my Helix be Batman?!?
  3. I do similar, though I use a High / Low cut EQ after the cabs. I think it also has steeper rolloff than the high/low cut in the cabs block. I might try the parametric EQ to do the same. I also think I may need to cut in the cab block a little more aggressively.
  4. I am thinking that a surge in our houses (for whatever reason) may have caused a problem in the Helix, and perhaps after a while, or switching rooms, and back helped. Multiple things could have fixed it, and could have also been the problem. I do think it was a surge of some kind that was fixed with rebooting on different breakers, or after the surging has completely stopped. That is all just speculation though. I am also glad you got a fix, even though not really a definitive answer.
  5. LOL for me its more like in a mixing scenario: Why isn't this threshold change affecting the sound?!? This compressor is waaaayyyy too transparent! This compressor.... was in bypass lol!
  6. I am the same way. Though I went through a lot of troubleshooting in a small amount of time. Once the problem seemed to be gone, I just really didn't want to dig any deeper, and potentially muck things up again. I sent my first Helix rack back to sweetwater for excessive crackling over usb, and the usb connection was slightly loose. The second one I have learned to work in a way to really minimize crackling. (basically refresh the ASIO drivers each time I open my DAW) Also the second Helix rack's usb port was a little more secure. I much prefer the scientific approach. But that still has to adhere to my budget of time, and currency. Neither of which are in abundance enough to muck around with something that I got working, in this category at least. lol I have a thought. Perhaps this isn't something so much to do with your Helix. Indulge me for a moment ya? Maybe this is due to power in your house. Try moving your Helix (if possible) to a different room (different breaker) see if it persists. IF it does, see if you can take it to a friend's house to test. Since it hasn't been mentioned yet. The power in my house is not all that great. I have to turn off the refrigerator to play guitar sometimes, and every time I want to record. I even have a very nice $600 Furman power conditioner. But I have at least identified the issues I have, and can work with them. Have you got any new appliances lately? Put in any new lights? Storms, or other surges come through lately? Happen to live in Puerto Rico, or near it?
  7. I had something similar last year, It has since seemed to fix itself. It was strange, one day every guitar I plugged into it sounded flubby, and bad, on a preset I knew sounded decent. Then it kinda went away after I powered everything down, came back the next day. I may have even did the FW update again. I am not sure what fixed it, but I don't seem to have the same problem anymore. I do not know what fixed it. If you think the USB might be boosting something remove the cable completely. Try again. My USB is always connected, as my Helix Rack is my audio interface. When building new presets I always have way too much bass for heavy tones unless I put a stompbox in front of the amp, and reduce using low cuts, and EQs elsewhere. I assume you are doing something similar if it worked right before, and the Native preset sounds right. Though I don't use light gauge strings, it is either medium gauge, or higher due to low tuned guitars. If you find more out, please post back, and let us know.
  8. Do us a favor PixelPeter. If the issue really is solved for you after you go through further testing... could you come back to this thread, and mark it as solved/answered? Marking Duncann's post as the most valuable answer.
  9. Agreed. Some places have wonderful customer service/relations. I haven't really had to deal with Line 6 customer service. But I hear mostly wonderful things, and this thread (with Will posting like that) is just re-enforcement of that. Very rarely have I seen customer relations on this scale, with a company this large, remaining this consistently positive. I would say the only other company I could point to that has consistently stellar customer service being so large/popular... is Image Line. I have also had a lot of good interactions with Sweetwater Music, and Amazon.com (though I have also heard horror stories about Amazon customer service)
  10. Are you running Helix Native 1.00, or Helix Native 1.01? The 1.01 update had the following within it (some of it directly relates to Logic Pro X) It reads as the following: WHAT'S NEW The Settings Window is accessed via a more easily discoverable gear icon in the bottom left of the window. Import and Export bundle has moved to the Settings Window CPU Optimizations under the hood to the stock cab models Note Sync now stays synced when changing delay and mod models Block movement and placement has been improved WHAT'S FIXED Unfreezing Tracks and other modals dialogs under Logic Pro X no longer darken the plug-in UI. Time remaining in trial no longer displays negative or invalid numbers Various other bug fixes and stability improvements
  11. On a serious note I agree with this. I want new FX, and new Amps... However, I would like the updating of the FX that need it (like the reverbs) so the updates that come after could be all about the new stuff.
  12. Easily the same for me. It is a great forum.
  13. I am of the same opinion. With a product of this magnitude it is a logical extrapolation. I have had it over a year, and I am still learning new things. I'm getting better at dialing in tones, getting more familiar with the parameters, and the models. I'm Getting aligned with nuances, and quirks of using it in a studio environment. This stuff takes time, and I know I am probably not even half way there yet. (especially if you take into account new additions to it over the years as well) Oh to the OP, welcome.
  14. I am running like 4 instances in a project that I am working on, and my cpu usage in my DAW states only about 25-35% for the whole project. Win 10. I7-5820K. FL Studio 12.5. It most definitely is not a cpu hog for me. ASIO is at 512. Can't tell you about the Mac as I would never own that overrated/overpriced Apple crap.
  15. Wow, I had the opposite issue at first. I had to put my XLR outputs to "Mic" level as it was too loud of a signal going into my studio monitors. (Event BAS 20/20) My monitors are pretty freaking loud. I have them turned basically completely down on the monitors themselves. Mic level XLR outputs, and I probably don't ever turn my Main volume knob on the Helix past 50%. (Noon) Any higher than 50% and I probably couldn't stand to be in the room. (as it would be too loud for me) There may be some kind of issue with your Helix Hardware. But first check for Phantom power on those channels like Phil_M, and jbuhajla, above mentioned.
  16. I have to say that is a rather apt comparison. It made me chuckle a bit.
  17. The thing is Helix should work with Studio One. This an issue with your setup, or your rig, not because Helix isn't compatible with Studio One, or that Studio One requires proprietary hardware. This is from Presonus's own website: Supported Devices Studio One supports most audio devices, including ASIO, Core Audio (Mac OS X), and WASAPI (Windows) devices. When using a WASAPI audio device in Windows, note that WASAPI offers Exclusive and Shared modes of operation. In Exclusive mode, lower latency can be achieved, but other applications (such as Windows Media Player) cannot use the audio device at the same time. Refer to the Windows Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound to configure the options for your WASAPI device. Some of the users on these forums use Studio One as their DAW with the Helix as their interface, though I am not sure if they are doing it on a "Mac" or not. I use the Helix as my interface for FL Studio just fine.
  18. For lollipops & giggles, try reinstalling Studio One, and your Line 6 Helix drivers.
  19. Studio One does not need a Presonus interface. The only DAW that required a proprietary interface was Pro Tools, and even they have realized that wasn't the best business decision, and have since changed that. If you can get the Helix to work in other DAWs, and it is a fact you do not need Presonus interface for Studio One... Then the issue is with your settings.
  20. IF your DAW allows the following: I use this in FL Studio, and it helps. Sometimes I get cracks, and static from time to time. Go into your ASIO, or Driver settings in your DAW. Choose a different driver all together, wait the couple of seconds, then switch back to your Helix ASIO driver. FL Studio allows me to do this if I choose either ASIO4Allv2, or FL ASIO. (just for a second) then switch back to Helix ASIO. If I were to choose one of the other drivers during this time, it may bluescreen me, or just crash FLS. So be sure to save your work in your DAW before trying this. It could be a power management issue, as well. As far as recording being out of time your ASIO settings will more than likely be the culprit here, if they are set with a high buffer then what you record (even a dry track through usb7) will go through the system latency. I have my ASIO buffer set to 512. I rarely have to shift an audio recording due to a timing issue that isn't of my own mis-timed playing. IF this isn't the case for your then there is something wrong with your setup else where.
  21. Agreed, though the other side of that coin is "I think" is often overshadowed by "I believe." It is seen all too often these days by anyone that isn't completely oblivious. Though I guess you could semantically quantify the "I believe" under the "I feel."
  22. The multi band compressor was a great addition... Not the best example to use for just having a menu of effects listed. More function is great, more stability is great. So are more amp models, and FX models. (or improvements to them) Only wanting more models, OR only wanting extended functionality, is short sighted imo. I am happy with what is already available, however I look forward to more in both function, and models. (or improvements to them) I think the Helix platform will continue to grow for some time. I hope I am right. ;) On the topic of Fizz: I see both sides, try to eliminate it, or leave it a bit more raw (like it is currently). I think I have come up with a viable solution to this. Add a new FX block. Call it the Fizz eliminator, or "smoother," or ultra filter... A specially talor'd EQ, and filters made by Line 6 that will remove said fizz, (obviously it will have to be some what adjustable). This gives those that want it what they want to a degree, and allows those that don't want it to just completely ignore the new FX block. This is just a fleeting thought I had, and I doubt I am the first to have it. But figured I would post it, even though I am sure it is not without it's own problems.
  23. I have a set of AKG K712 Pros. (the orange ones) These things have a great sound stage, clear sound, flat response (relatively) and I can wear them for hours without much fatigue. I haven't heard a better set of headphones, but they don't come cheap. I got them for about $348 on a major sale, and that was a few years ago when they cost even more than they do now, back when they were actually made in Austria. (when they typically cost $700-$800) You can get them for around $500 on a normal day these days, and I think they are made in Slovakia. I sometimes go out of the Helix headphone out, but a lot of times I go line out L+R 1/4 inch into a Little Dot MkII tube headphone amp. I have changed the tubes out for some nice aftermarket German, and Soviet tubes. This gives me a little bit warmer sound, with what I consider a slightly better/wider sound stage. I can pin point direction-ally on pc games a little better with the tube amp as well. Some of the improvement could be a bypass of any impedance mis-match with the Helix headphone out, but I also think Headphone amp has a nice quality to it as well. Take all this as I am not a touring musician, I am strictly studio. I use a mix of headphones, studio monitors, and other monitoring methods.
  24. Interesting, on my other unnamed plugin, when I deactivated the LAN adapter in my machine I got errors. When I am offline due to outtage, I get no error. If I unplug the Ethernet cable, I get no error. Only when I deactivate the LAN adapter by way of toggling in device manager is when I get the error. I am unable to test this with Helix Native atm. Your adapter plugs in to your rig? Not just an Ethernet cable? If your on a desktop then a PCI Network interface card might be the way to go, and they are super cheap, and pretty simple to install... Provided you have the extra slots open on your motherboard.
