  1. Oh yes! 100%. Sure you could setup automation from your DAW to the Helix hardware as well, but that is far more of a PITA, and is far less stable. Native makes it far more intuitive, faster, with better results. Most DAWs do have automation support. The ones you listed plus Studio One, and FL Studio. Actually FL Studio has some of the most powerful/flexible automation capabilities around. I automate parameters in HXNative in FL Studio, only takes a few clicks to setup, and your ready,
  2. I love efficiency, and cleverness. Some of the things that truly do excite me. That was great decision making, "several birds with one stone" right there. Benefits basically across the board. ðŸ‘
  3. A random hacker group is holding the new FW for ransom. ðŸ˜
  4. This is the position I have. I want to wait, see how its implemented, and see how it affects my workflow. I don't really think it will affect things negatively much at all, but will give me a lot more options with my unit/software. I think some of us are jumping the gun, and firing a bit blind until we have it in our hands. (so to speak)
  5. Not debating, as you are correct. Just including below why you are correct. For end user listening 44.1khz is plenty. It encompasses the entirety of human hearing. Humans hear in the 20hz to 20khz range, though as you get older, and depending on environment, as you become an adult that is reduced down to about 17khz. The 44.1khz has a freq range of 1hz to 22.05khz. That encompasses the entirety of human hearing including babies, and children. Anything more would only be noticeable in the studio with expensive high-quality equipment, and there is a large chance it won't be that noticeable even there. Also 12bit was cassette. 16bit was CD. 16bit is plenty for consumer audio. The only real benefit to 24bit, 32bit float, (or higher) is more headroom in the mix (in the studio) when the mixing/mastering engineers are still working on the project. When they get finished it will be out at 16bit, 44.1khz on a disc.
  6. Nice! By the time I go to upgrade from the Helix platform Line6 will probably have a successor to the Helix already available. It is at that point I will see what the best option for me will be. Could be Helix 2, could be AxeFX IV. However Fractal will need to step up their user interface game before I consider going that route.
  7. Not saying Fractal doesn't make a great product, we all know objectively that they do. However, those are symptoms of marketing all but replacing advertising. How about all these car commercials that have the car doing crazy things like driving on a beach, or hitting a jump, and landing on a moving train? lollipop so outlandish that has absolutely nothing to do with the car they are selling you. Plus they are also forced to have, in little letters, "stunt driver on a closed course, do not attempt yourself." -- On topic, I think L6 actually did update a few models in the Helix. I want to say either the Archon, or Mesa MkIV. Had a problem with sound cutting out with bass at 0, or mid at 0. They did adjust the amp to fix that. I think they adjusted a parameter in an effect that actually improved the sound, however I don't remember which effect that was. I may have missed one, or two things, but his is all I think they have openly admitted to changing. I think L6 just applies the experience, and better/more resources to the new models, which is why they typically do sound better than the ones it shipped with. Yet, I think for the most part they keep the older models the same. That way it pleases those that want improvements with new models, and pleases those that want more continuity of sound among their original presets. PLUS if they constantly tried to improve the models in it currently it would upset the latter, and it would upset the former because less resources/time being spent on new models. IMO the Reverbs were the only thing that needed updates. Perhaps some HX wahs down the road, as they were ported too, however that is less dire than the reverbs imo. Also how they did it by moving the ported reverbs to the legacy section, while having the HX reverb sit in the reverb section we know now is actually pretty genius.
  8. Actually I hear pitch changing in the delays of the Cosmos Delay.
  9. hahaha Might not be the wrong forum. 🤣
  10. Agreed. Some people refer to them as "bees in a can." but some of us do more than just clean play, honky tonk, or slightly overdriven rockabilly. I do all sorts of music styles including metal. Many of us would like, and appreciate, more nuanced choices on the ballsy side of amps with near as much overlap as the low-to-mid gain models in the helix. I'd like the XTC, and some more Engl personally. I think they will add more high gain goodness for us throughout the year, but I wouldn't go expecting it in a single update. To be completely fair, just a couple more high gain monsters, (like the ones I mentioned above) is all I want out of amp models, other than say some unique amps (like the cartographer) or L6 original creations.
  11. Yea I am probably a bit younger than you, however, The Helix, and Helix Native, will be my guitar amp & FX platform for quite some time. I probably won't upgrade for another 8 to 10 years. By that point I am sure someone will release a worthy successor, who knows might even be L6.
  12. I see. So either it will be trial & error to know which of each model is mono, or stereo. OR... I can just hope each model will have some sort of label, or icon stating mono, or stereo. I appreciate the responses on the matter. Thank you for that.
  13. Thanks for the info, I assume there is a mono, and a stereo folder under legacy that houses these. Like it is now, but just under the legacy section?
  14. I missed it too, Hopefully it further streamlines the update process for both Helix hardware, and Native.
  15. Agreed, great update for me as a studio musician. I can use the HX reverb (and a lot of those Legacy FX) on so many things. More Mesa is welcomed. Any Friedman is nice. Lets not forget they are not charging for this either! ;) At least they haven't for any former update to the Helix, and no indication this is extra $$ either. I hope we get either some more Engl amps, or the XTC in the next update. However, I will state this is a fantastic update! Having the addition of all those legacy models will really help bridge the gap, and make the transition for many guitarists/bassists to the Helix platform even more enticing. I expect the Helix platform user base to really grow this year. They started it off right I would say. So yes, thank you Line 6.
  16. Well, I think this update is fantastic. I love the fact that we are getting legacy models. So many more tools for the arsenal, especially the HX reverbs as I can use them for much more than guitar in the studio. Just two question though, and it refers to what I have in bold quoted of yours: Are the legacy FX mono, stereo, or just a mixture of both? If it is just a mixture, are they labeled clearly as either?
  17. Perhaps. I was wondering if the Plateaux was some sort of plate reverb...
  18. OHHHHH Yea! I really like Native for my needs, so this just tickles me. Thanks for the confirmation Silverhead. :)
  19. Line6 just issued a collective smack down with this update. More Mesa, and finally a Friedman! Nice. New HX reverbs! Oh Yeah!!!! Over 75 legacy effects from the M-series, and others. Although with this I do have a question. Will this be coming to Helix Native as well? I see it is currently for Helix Rack + Control, Helix Floor, and Helix LT. I really, really hope so!
  20. If you want accuracy I recommend open back for better reproduction of low end, and better soundstage. I would also recommend fairly flat response. For your price AKG K702. If you can spring the extra then go for the AKG K712 ( the orange ones ) as they are a step up. For the price you would be hard pressed to find better.
  21. Although very few ideas are truly unique. Standing on the backs of giants, and all... I will say this "iteration" is happening a lot these days. Look at movies, and video games especially. More remakes/reboots/sequels than new IPs. Lol that said, I do enjoy a good bit of the remake/reboot/sequels 😠lol, especially with gaming.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that basically did with their floor processor? Isn't it basically modified 11rack software in New form? I mean the 11rack was a great peice of kit before the Helix, still is actually. However that does seem to be a trend with HR.

Same here as a Rack + Control + L6 mission exp pedal + Helix Native. It would leave me less than pleased.I expect to get access to all the Helix models without buying new hardware until Helix II, or whatever the successor is, releases.
