  1. I think Soundog may have posted what you are looking to do. I don't know why I remembered your thread when I saw it, but I did. Here is the link. http://line6.com/support/topic/32305-panning-your-hxn-guitar-within-a-stereo-track/
  2. lol I don't do live, I only really record in my DAW. That is what I mean't when I said wet monitoring above, I should have clarified that to be while recording. For me once the guitar is recorded in the DAW the latency doesn't matter anymore then I send it through more elaborate signal chains with Helix Native usually with split instances like mentioned above. (with 3rd party plugins in between them) I think you want your plugins in your Helix (hardware) signal chain while you wet monitor/record via virtual usb FX loops. Which I would love too, if it wouldn't be for the added latency. Helix alone gets me about 80-85% of the way there though with none, so I am happy with that for a wet monitor. (I always dry record, and ReAmp afterwards) EDIT: I am sorry! You are talking about Helix Native lol, I thought you were talking about doing this with Helix Hardware via USB. I might need to go ahead, and get some sleep, I am not sure how I confused that as now that I re-read it you clearly stated Native several times. Well then forget most of what I stated above, I thought we were talking about implementing this in Hardware. :P The only problem I can see doing it in Native is if Native, or the other plugin, don't report latency correctly, and that might mess up some DAW's Plugin Delay Compensation. But yeah, I would be for that. It could reduce instances of Native used, and reduce cpu load in larger projects.
  3. @soundog: I was speaking from the point of either performing, or wet-monitoring just with Helix as the comparison. If you are already playing that way with added plugins in a DAW, then I guess it wouldn't bother you that much. However, for me it would be unacceptable. Though I will admit I am just a slightly above average guitarist to be fair, probably no where near the skill of some of the guys on this forum, perhaps including you. I mainly just wet monitor with Helix only (with basically the same patch I use in Native when I ReAmp) no perceivable latency. Then when I ReAmp with Native I use other plugins which add latency, however I am not playing it, and the DAW uses an automatic plugin delay compensation. I don't mean to belittle your idea, I just don't see its usefulness myself. I won't campaign against it, or anything. If it would truly benefit you then I see no problem in adding it. Won't hurt me to treat the feature like it isn't even there. That is if it won't take some crazy dev time, then again I got most of what I am wanting out of Helix, and with its trajectory of updates I will more than likely have the rest of what I want anyway given another year, or two. So I really shouldn't care even if extra dev time is put to things I may not need in this unit. Though I am sure you know other members of this community may take a different stance on that, event though most of what they could want out of the unit is already covered... just like me. So more power to you, as long as it doesn't change functionality in a way that impedes me. ;)
  4. I like the Lonestar as well. Its a nice amp for low-to-medium gain work. I use it with the 3Sigma Audio IRs Lonestar 2x12 ACE files. I usually mix the A (tube) and B (solid state) files with a parallel path in the Helix with one IR on either path. I end up mixing A & B a lot for stuff.
  5. The only thing about that IdeaScale that I see would be a problem is the latency increase by going virtual out into the DAW, process audio, then back into the Helix. It would make playing feel unnatural. OR it could cause massive phasing issues. I don't see how this could be implemented without a noticeable increase of one, or the other, or both.
  6. Agreed, the work on 2.50 is pretty nice. I haven't got around to using any of the legacy stuff yet. However, I have used both of the new amps, and 1-2 of the new HX reverbs. Fine work by Line 6. A nice addition in quality amps, and a noticeable step up in the quality of reverb choice, I hope they add more to the HX reverb category. The new multi-pass delay is pretty cool too. I wonder what the next update will bring. I don't expect it before the end of April at the earliest, but we will see.
  7. ... if you guys don't mind. Or I should say what are your favorite IRs from 3sigma audio for Clean, Ambient, Lite/Low Gain etc? Anyone one use any of their Bass cab IRs? If so any recommendations? I think I have everything covered for mid gain, and high gain stuff. I just started using IRs for a lot of my stuff in my Helix, and Helix Native. Been using stock cabs for everything, but I already like the results I am getting with IRs. Yes, I know what may work for you guys may not work for me, but I just want a good starting ground of preferences of users here, and then cross-check that with auditioning the videos available on their site.
  8. Actually I don't think my globals changed with the last update. I have my unit set at 44.1khz, and I have the XLR out set to "mic" level as my Event BAS 20/20 Studio monitors are very loud. These are not the default settings. When I booted my unit up after the update, these settings remained at what I set them to, not back to the default of "48kz, and XLR at line." Of course I could have just done it as habit, and forgot... However, I think the globals were retained. EDIT: I do want to state that I did not factory reset. As I read with this update you do not need to, if you do not care about receiving the few new factory presets that come with the FW update. I build all my own patches so I did not need the presets. But still back up all your presets, IRs, and setlists.
  9. I think the software is worth it at $400. Their asking price. That said, I got it for $99 at launch as a discount for a Rack + Control user. I considered that one hell of a deal, and addition to my Helix platform. The deals you guys are getting now are fan-freaking-tastic. $69 for Helix Native is basically getting into the territory of "how can a Helix user with a DAW say no?" I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.
  10. Honestly the point in which they go back, and redo the models that the Helix shipped with, it will probably ship with Helix's successor. (Double Helix, Helix II etc) I don't see them doing that for this product, but hey I could be wrong. I see them focusing on more models that aren't there. Hopefully some unique ones, high demand ones (XTC, more Engl), and Line6 originals. :D I also see them working on function/features. Even expansion of options, more mics to choose from on the stock cabs, mic placement of more than just distance... This could easily fill up the next 3-4 years of development for the Helix. Probably long before revisiting ~potentially (slightly) ~ improve amp models that are already there as a priority. They would have to offer them as separate versions, or take the risk of unhappy users with changes to the sound in their carefully crafted presets. No, I see that as a reserve for Helix's successor.
  11. Well then that does make me feel a bit better. Looks like the HX stereo reverbs are still fine for stereo processing of things like strings/synths/pads. Like I said, am not at my helix, but I was reading this thread, and it had me a little worried.
  12. If the HX stereo reverbs do indeed sum to mono at the input, then they are lose a lot of usability for anything other than guitar, especially synths. Honestly, they lose a good bit of usability for guitar specific signal chains as well. I'm not at my Helix atm, but if this is the case (bug, or by design) it needs to be changed. Stereo reverbs are to be stereo in, stereo out. I have no problem with mono to stereo reverbs, but put them in a separate category, and keep the stereo reverbs stereo in, and stereo out.
  13. No sorry I am not familiar with that DAW.
  14. Oh yes, Helix Native is fantastic. I haven't tried all the other modelling suites, but I have tried a few. HX Native is my favorite. I use it in tandem with other plugins of course, but I am dialing in the best tones I ever have for guitar these days with Helix Rack + Control, and my Helix Native with other plugins. My favorite part of Helix Native is the same sound as hardware with interchangeable presets, and the automation capabilities are so powerful... if your DAW can accommodate.
  15. Sweetwater emails me every time I have made a purchase from them. Every time it is software, they email me with the activation code/license key usually within a few minutes. An hour, or two at most. You may want to check your email settings. It may have been put in the bulk/spam folder. Or perhaps your sales engineer did genuinely forget to send the follow up email containing that information. If you have any issues again, just log into your Sweetwater act. It will let you know who your sales engineer is right on the main page of the account. It will list their extension. Call them/email them with any questions, or follow up/updates. That is what they are there for. Glad you got it working.
  16. Hmm, I am not familiar with that DAW, but I will confirm that HX Native automates just fine in FL Studio 12. I haven't tried the snapshots just yet, but I haven't had any issue with automating any other parameter in it. Hope you get it sorted out.
  17. The real power of the snapshots for Helix Native will be being able to Automate them. The precision/flexibility will be unmatched, plus you will be able to lessen your "instances" of the plugin.
  18. I agree with you on basically everything you said. At first I didn't like the pick attack on helix, now I like it to the point where I would miss it if it wasn't there. I too would like to see L6, or even other pros address this. But I aM with you on the balance. Just wouldn't want to give up too much of that nice pick attack.
  19. Lol, I just get tired of the expectation to be invested in other peoples make-beliefs, while so many disregard facts, and self-evident truths. 😎 It is one reason we have the worst administration yet in the country I live in unfortunately, but I am starting to get into rant territory. Lol On topic of string noise/pick attack, and showing blemishes reminds me of the Evo pickups. (those that Steve Vai used) They were supposed to be clear, but will emphasize any mistakes, or fumbles. That was at least how they were marketed.
  20. I want to add to this thread, but it may not be of much help... I noticed when I got the Helix the note attack is right there. It is quite aggressive, but also clear. This means you can hear the attack in a mix, and it gives clarity to the playing. The downside is it does seem to have more string noise, and accentuates any mess ups, or sloppy technique. This is how I work with it: Context - I am a studio only musician, not doing any live for the foreseeable future - I first use a noise gate, only for tracking, at the input block. When I ReAmp, I turn off the gates in Helix. Then I send the clean signal trough Fabfilter's Pro-G gate plugin, then through HX Native for ReAmping. Pro-G is far more flexible then the gates in Helix, or most other gate plugins for that matter. Secondly I use Fretwrap, or the ceaphus wraps. You could find alternatives to use. This helps reduce string talk/crossover. Finally, I try to compensate with improving my technique. Which isn't all that great to begin with. I Try to be more deliberate in my technique/playing. The Helix shows detail, but the downside to that is it shows blemishes. Much like high resolution in gaming... Some would call this a "blessing and a curse." However, I tend to be more realistic, and not view/cloud my reality with irrelevant obsolete superstition. I see it more as a pro & con. The con in this instance forces me to do the 3 things I listed above, with more emphasis on the final point, improving my technique... (not just with playing, but things like transitioning from pressing record to my first hand positions are on the guitar) Hope this helps.
  21. Easy, just end the completely misguided war on drugs. It's the only logical choice. 😉 As for the video I will check it when I get home. Something like this will not translate well to phone speakers, and that is all I have atm. But I am happy to see many posters who can view it have such positive responses.
  22. Thank you! This does come in very handy. Excellent work, I will definitely check back after the FW releases. This thread should be sticky-d.
  23. Well, I have been one of the more vocal proponents of new HX reverbs over the past 2 years. So those of course. :P The amps come in ahead of the legacy stuff, because I am currently working on 2 songs atm that those 2 amp models would probably be perfect for. Or at the very least that I want to try out. This is also the reason why I am interested in 2.50 for my Helix Rack, but I am actually looking forward to Helix Native 1.50 update a bit more. The legacy stuff comes in last, however, everything in this update is enticing to me. The legacy stuff will work great to add to the sonic toolbox for my studio. It will also bring over a lot of users of PodHD, and some of the other L6 pedals/boxes, as most of that is covered + all the new. Makes upgrading far more enticing. More user base for Helix, means longer support from L6.
