  1. Hey I haven't upgraded to the new FW yet, holding off a bit longer, but I was wondering does that 3 ban compressor have a stereo separation parameter for each band?
  2. Complete agreement here! I really like the HX cabs. I almost always run them in parallel though. I am sure I will need to use IRs at some point, but if this parameter was introduced that would eliminate one advantage that IRs clearly have over the HX cabs.
  3. This happens even with an expression pedal, and Helix Rack
  4. Metal is as big as it has ever been, and that isn't changing anytime soon. It has a great many subgenres. Many of which even I find is just splitting semantics. However, industrial metal is one of its bigger genres, and has been around easily since the 90's. "Strapping Young Lad," and "Fear Factory" were 2 big names of the genre of that time. OP I am at work now, but I will give it a listen tomorrow.
  5. What they will do is give us more control over sculpting our sound. Could result in a bit less post processing, as well as getting your EQing closer without using an extra block.
  6. Voted both. I think being able to choose the db per octave, or the curve of the slope would definitely help in getting more precision out of our tone sculpting tools within the Helix. I think it will help mitigate some of the post processing EQ I do when recording as well. But I don't want this just on the IR block. I would like to see this implemented in the HX Cabs as well!

    Input Pad

    That would be good.
  8. Well said, technology is growing in a way where customization (which is essentially what you are talking about on a very basic level, aka left handed) is becoming more accessible than ever before. 3D printing is a huge step in that direction, probably the biggest yet, but it goes largely unrecognized by mass public (and not for completely benign reasons either!) People use to (and still do) look at me with the oddest looks when I even try to mention to them what 3D printing is, or what it is capable of doing. They can (with this technology) print houses in 24 hours. Half a dozen printers, and you have a decent neighborhood in 72 hours. Using stem cells they can print body parts... It only gets more efficient from here on. Hell, they are already printing guitars. At first they were pretty bad, but with the higher precision printers, and as the technology matured... they have started to get some nice results. Arguably that future better hurry up because at the rate of our current trajectory going backwards, or even stagnating at this point is extremely detrimental.
  9. A new driver would b nice as I do truly think they could be a little more stable. Im looking forward to the update, and the plugin.
  10. Lol I bet that was a little on the nose for one user on these forums.
  11. The first 4 months I was back and forth with my Helix, I loved it, but hated it at the same time. I am a studio musician. Once I learned its quirks with my recording system which I still have, but learned to work with, and spent some time dialing in tones that all changed. I love my Helix now! Best tones I have ever personally dialed in, and the fastest too, except for EZMix. Some of the EZmix guitar presets are really good sounding and it loads in about 10 seconds. There is very little dialing in a sound with EZ Mix because the chains are already there. (so for that reason I don't really count EZ Mix for me personally dialing in tones, as its a preset machine with 2 parameters) Though they are better than any tone I dialed in on any FX chain.... Except for my Helix tones!
  12. This, so much this. I have used things like piano presets in EZMix as FX for a guitar signal chain. Point is there is no wrong way as long as it sounds good.
  13. Dimming bulbs usually aren't the problem though. Right? Its dimming switches that are. For instance you could put a dimming bulb in a regular light socket (no dimming, and there should be no issue) Its treated as a regular bulb. I just got a dimming bulb for a non dimming socket, (cause I liked the bulb) its LED 2.5 watts. I don't think it has any issues with my audio, except I haven't tried with guitar yet. My Floyd Rose gets here either today, or tomorrow, and I have a little work to do on the guitar before I can test this for myself. LED bulb is your best bet for the least amount of audio being affected. Incandescent, CFL, Neon, and Fluorescent are worse choices. When I get around to testing this, I will post back if I find my results are not what I expect, and it does affect it being in a non-dimming socket, with no dimming switch.
  14. Just to fuel your interest. http://www.amc.com/talk/2007/08/soldier-is-a-se
  15. I don't think it is, but the movie "Soldier" with Kurt Russell is a spin-off sequel to Blade Runner. Look it up.
  16. I haven't used irs with the Helix yet, but I prefer to use two stock cabs in parallel. Much like jbuhajla above I often use separate parameters, such as diff mic, position, etc. I think it gives it a more organic sound, its more lush, and not as sterile compared to using a single cab... My experiences with it anyway.
  17. Especially if the MB Compressor has a "stereo separation/merge" parameter for each band. Could keep your lows in the center, and the mids normal position, and highs more out to the side. Of course this is mainly for people who use stereo rigs, or use the Helix in the studio. It would only take up 3 knobs: Have the parameter 0 in center (no change) - clockwise merges, counter clockwise separates... 1 knob for each band.
  18. I appreciate the transparency as well. Even if it is temporary.
  19. This, so much this. I wish game publishers would realize this, and let the devs release the game once its finished, not release it half-assed trying to patch it for the next 7 months. Take FF15 as an example.
  20. Whatever dude is quite app in reverse as well. The "enjoy your pod" comment only adds to the confirmation of intent. Move along.
