  1. In this Anderton's video, from the NAMM show, they plug it into a Strat. Actually, a Strat looks like the best style of guitar to protect the G10. G10 coverage starts at 7:40 in this video. https://youtu.be/T32xJbHjbKs
  2. To my ears, based on owning both units, Helix absolutely blows the HD500X away. It sounds more real to me and it's so easy to dial in the sound I'm after. With the HD500X I usually ended up downloading other people's patches and tweaking them slightly instead of trying to build one from scratch. The HD500X is not lacking by any means but Helix takes it to an entirely different level IMHO. I originally intended to keep my HD500X as a backup but after about an hour with Helix I knew that wasn't going to happen. I sold it a couple weeks later. Might I suggest selling your Helix while they're still hard to find. You should be able to recover most of your money if you act soon. Thanks for the comparison.
  3. Wow Peter, really, really good stuff! Thanks.
  4. Select your wah block with the joystick. Press menu (next to SAVE button). Press controller assign. Select Learn Controller. Move your expression pedal back and forth. Your expression pedal is now your wah and your built in pedal should handle volume.
  5. I don't believe so but you can move the presets to other locations. If you put the one's you want in the same setlist then you can use the footswitches like that.
  6. I'll take a shot at guessing: Carol-Ann Triptik 2nd guess: Fryette Sig-X 3rd guess: Suhr PT100
  7. I don't think there's any way that someone could watch Glenn DeLaune's 3 Channel Amp Patch demo and arrive at the conclusion that Helix is DSP limited. Check it out if you'd like: https://youtu.be/S879raBLkwE
  8. I'm not sure but I suspect they're running plate voltages of over 400 volts. The DT25 wouldn't be the first amp to hit 25 watts with 2 EL84s.
  9. If you're referring to Glenn's EQ settings, I'd like to know the same.
  10. I don't mind the looks and the headphone jack is interesting. I'll bet it's lightweight and it looks pretty comfortable. If it had come out over a decade ago it might have provided some competition for the original Variax. It even has sitar, resonator and banjo. The big shortcomings are no alternate tunings, has to use battery power, your effects processor can't communicate with it and I don't see any way of updating the firmware (no USB port). Still, it's nice to see someone else entering the game. We all know who wins when there's competition. :)
  11. Great review and demo!!! Very impressive.
  12. A Randall RH100 (solid state), a Peavey Bravo 112 (tube) and a Line 6 DT25 (tube).
  13. 1) Not yet and I'm not sure if they have one planned. 2) Yes with a Variax. You can drop the tuning down on a regular guitar but not individual strings. 3) It should work great through a Vibroking. You can use it as fx only into the front of the amp or set up the 4-cable method (much better option IMHO). It sounds great through FRFR but it's not a requirement. I play mine mostly through FRFR or headphones but some of the time I go into a DT25 using Line 6 Link and a MIDI cable or into a Randall Amp using 4-cable method. All of these options sound terrific.
  14. ^^^ 100% ^^^ This advice should be on a 'Quick Start' paper in the Helix box.
  15. I've tried 4-cable method with 3 different amps using 20' cables with zero issues or noticeable effect on tone.
  16. Have you tried a different guitar? Have you tried different cables? Do you have the Helix USB connected to anything?
  17. It's still got to be some sort of power/interference thing if it disappears when you remove external power from the laptop. I'm not sure what but I would rule out Helix as the source.
  18. That narrows it down to a power problem. Probably a ground loop if unplugging your laptop from the power outlet solves the problem. I'd try a different outlet or maybe make sure Helix and the computer are plugged into the same outlet. Anyhow, I'd play musical outlets and power cords until I solved the problem.
  19. I know it's a really popular request. Several of us are having great success using L6 Link and a MIDI cable.
  20. Try just playing a mp3 song from your computer through Helix. I'd like to rule out the DAW.
  21. I would think that, since the problem doesn't happen with your laptop, you could rule out Helix as the source. Do you get this same noise when you play a backing track or mp3 through Helix from your desktop computer?
  22. Check this out from the TGP Helix Clips and Samples thread: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-clips-and-samples-thread.1624399/page-24#post-21077925
