  1. That's the last thing I did before selling my HD500X. I've already shared it with Radatats to assist him with his setlist. Here's a drobbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fsh7bjgik73gc7f/Helix%20-%20HD500X%20Settings%20for%20DT%20Series%20Amplifiers.xlsx?dl=0
  2. That's pretty cool. All I need is an attenuator and I could give that a whirl. Thanks. Ok, got it. I took your original post to mean you were disabling the DI out and then using it anyway. You're just disabling the cab emulation for it. I'll have to give this a try. I have everything on hand for this one, even an Alto TS110a. Thanks for your reply.
  3. When using 4 cable method you basically have 2 modes in which to operate. The first is that you're using effects and a preamp on the HD500X and going into the fx return on the DT. This means you're only using the power amp of the DT and the knobs shouldn't do anything for you. The second mode is where using the entire DT along with effects on the HD500X. In this mode the knobs should work. Check out this link. It's got terrific info on setting up and using 4 cable method with the HD500X, including diagrams. http://guitargearfinder.com/guides/use-four-cable-method/
  4. Yep, popping noises that begin once the tubes warm up a little is a pretty good sign that they're on their way out or not seated very well. Cool that you had another DT to experiment with.
  5. I'm lost too. Can you describe the entire signal chain? What exactly is the DT providing if everything is disabled?
  6. I believe all of those models were pre-existing from other products. They're not the latest high-def Helix models which supposedly each can take up to a month of man-hours to model. The tone matching already existed as well and I'm sure all of the A/D D/A converters, processors and other hardware in Helix really jack up the price. All of those inputs and outputs don't come cheap. Also, a lot of people are going with Helix to lighten up the weight of their gear. Firehawk 1500 is really cool; it just serves a different purpose. It also works really well with Helix.
  7. I sold the HD500X but couldn't part with the DT25. It sounds amazing with Helix.

    Boot time?

Oops. I should have said 'comparable' modeler.
  9. I'm not sure that a thumb drive would do anything for you as Helix can't read it. You'd still need a computer to reload your patches if it became necessary.

    Boot time?

If I needed a faster boot up than 22 seconds I guess I'd stick with analog pedals into a solid state amp. You may come to that same conclusion after you look at the boot times of other modelers.
  11. I'll check it out, thanks. Not an option for everyone. I'd be perfectly willing to pay for decent lessons but I live 3 hours from the nearest traffic light, in the middle of Nevada, and there are only a handful of players here, none of whom teach. I'm actually one of the better players out here, which isn't saying much, and I'm teaching a couple friends for free. The good teaching sites that I've been considering aren't free, except for JustinGuitar which has a donate feature that I'll make use of if I go that route. I play for my own pleasure and don't expect to get paid. If people are willing to put teaching material out there for free, I can't really fault anyone for taking advantage of it.
  12. That's a cool app. If they made an Android version I'd be all overit.
  13. Went back today and purchased the Orange IR's. I can't recommend them highly enough.
  14. I'm considering one. It would pay for itself pretty quickly in the money I'd save on 9V batteries for my existing wireless. It sure looks like you'll have the option of going in via the XLR.
  15. I've played them some and I'll be experimenting some more this afternoon. So far I can say that the Orange IR is amazing. Nice job.
  16. I'll give this a shot: 1) I'm assuming you're looking for the FRFR to be you on-stage monitor since you're sending a separate signal to FOH. In that case I'd recommend the Alto TS110A which goes for about $200 USD. I'm not sure about all of them but some of the options you listed are far beyond your stated budget. The TS110A is 600 watts. 2) That signal path is easily achievable with Helix. 3) Again, I'd recommend the TS110A.
  17. I'll give that microphone combination a shot tonight. Thanks.
  18. Just got them. Thanks. I'll try them out tonight.
  19. I'm holding out hope that Line 6 will add full DT functionality to Helix. If they don't, the MIDI / L6 Link method is very easy to use so I'll be fine. I sort of expected them to have a new amp or powered monitor, which would replace the DT in their lineup, at Winter NAMM but they didn't. Maybe something will show up at the next trade show. The DT works great as a stand-alone amp. It also works really well with 4-cable method. I do have to admit that most of the time I just run Helix into an Alto TS110A PA speaker. It's just super easy to do, sounds great and most other people's patches I download work perfectly through a PA with no tweaking. I'm going to experiment with running my dry signal into the DT and a wet signal into the Alto this weekend. That should be fun.
  20. Even better. That's going in my OneNote Helix file.
  21. I don't have a clue how to use this effect. It would be great if someone would post a clip of the bitcrusher being appropriately used.
