Maybe Yamaha will introduce a Variax based on their new Revstar line of guitars. I've watched several Youtube videos with the new Revstars and they're impressive; especially the one with the Bigsby.

The volumes are all over the place because they are accurately modeling the various amps and effects. What would be very helpful would be some sort of meter to adjust the final patch volume. Then we could post patches with similar volume levels.

I don't have an Amplifi but doesn't the app for it do tone matching?

It can switch one thing with a regular mono cable or two things with a TRS cable. For example, switch the channel and toggle the reverb. If your amp does MIDI then your possibilities are greatly expanded.

That might be a great ideascale suggestion.

I'll play around with it this weekend and see what all I can accomplish while running into the fx return. As to whether or not you should get a Vetta or a FRFR solution, that's up to you. Going into FRFR is much easier, and usually lighter. If you go the Vetta route, you get a great amp that works by itself as well.

That's odd. Is this when plugged directly into the amp or are you going through anything else first? Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried plugging in a guitar with a double humbucker?

Yep, there are 2 DSP's; one for paths 1A & 1B and the other for paths 2A & 2B. And, to quote Digital Igloo (I believe it was him):

I cant' remember if it was on this board or over at TGP but someone successfully got them to apply it to a Helix order.

They get erased if you do the recommended factory reset (holding down FS9 & FS10 while rebooting) after installing the update. I'm also using the screenshot method for now until they get it sorted.

That is kind of a confusing thread but I know he's not making topology changes through the L6 Link cable. I think he lost the ability to store the 8 different amp models in the DT and finally got that capability back. On a side note, I'm having a lot of fun with the Helix and DT25 using L6 Link and a MIDI cable.

Mine isn't working that way. I'm not sure what's up with that. I'll double check this evening just to be sure.

The HD500X does sound amazing through FRFR as well. When you go into the Vetta II's fx return, you're effectively bypassing the preamp and going into the power amp and then out to the speakers. I believe you can still make use of Vetta's built in post effects this way. You have the option to model cabs or to select Bypass for cab models in your Vetta II patch. This should result in the least amount of coloring your tone possible.

I just reverted back to 1.04.1. The upgrade seemed to go well and I did the global reset but when I went to copy my patches back over it started having problems. BTW, I'm on Win 7 and all of the previous updates have installed with no problems. I started dragging and dropping presets back onto the setlists and eventually a message would flash across the top of the Helix app. It's too fast to read completely but it starts with "No symbol lookup table......". Then it said "Service is not online." and Helix would lock up. I would then disconnect the USB and reboot Helix and sometimes it would come back on and sometimes it would wind up with the BSOD, which only a 'reset globals' reboot would bring back. I tried flashing the new update again but wound up with the same result. Now I'm back on 1.04.1 and everything is back to normal. I copied my patches and IR's back over with no trouble.

My #1 suspect in this case would be one or more tubes. It's possible that one might not be seated well after shipping.

Well, that's a bummer. It looks like the external expression pedal is the way to go. Wouldn't be a bad idea to put up on ideascale though.

I'm not at home right now so I don't have access to my unit to try and figure this out. I wonder if this would work: Insert a volume pedal block Insert a wah block and put it in BYPASS Assign both blocks to the same footswitch Wouldn't the assigned footswitch toggle between the two without affecting the volume?

I've owned a Vetta II for 11 years and had a HD500X for about 2 years. The HD500X is a huge step forward in modeling and computing power. The Vetta II is really nice and you can get some very impressive tones from it but the HD500X is considerably better. The HD500X sounds amazing through the Vetta II. I set up an empty patch on the Vetta II, run the HD500X into the fx return and plug a cable or dummy plug into the Vetta II guitar input. Sounds great.

The build quality on my Korean JTV69 is excellent, the setup is perfect and it has the same electronics as the U.S. version. I personally can't see any benefit, for me, in upgrading. But that's a personal decision. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing your opinion after you receive the new guitar though. I hope you find it to be incredible. Nice! I saw your post on Facebook. I'm working on a setlist as well. I went through all the amp models on the HD500X and got the associated class, Topology, cabinet and mic. All of them were Pentode BTW.

I think full amp models is the way to go. I'll try the XLR this evening. I've never even plugged a cord into the DT Direct Out before.
