  1. Sure. I'm just using the instant MIDI commands to set the DT preamp to None and to select the cab and topology that I want. Helix is doing everything but the cab. I've uploaded it to CustomTone. Here's a link: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1393400/ Let me know what you think and if you come up with any better amp combinations than what I used.
  2. It might be possible but I don't see it in any of the menus. Perhaps you could manually switch the amp to match the LED on Helix. After that it should work fine.

Yep, just check out the preset TEMPLATES -> 01D Super Serial for an excellent example.
  4. I'm using Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones, which are 64 ohms, and they sound really good. I know that some folks were using a headphone preamp with the HD500X to drive their lower impedence sets.
  5. It's possible I guess. I have a JTV69 but wouldn't mind adding an 89 to the collection. If they do discontinue the line, I wonder if there would be some killer clearance sales?
  6. It should only be switching the amp when you press the footswitch. It works fine on my DT25 and Blackstar ID30 but not on my Peavey Bravo 112.
  7. My HD500X is on it's way out now that I've got Helix playing nice with my DT25 via MIDI.
  8. The volume difference is probably true to the actual equipment Line 6 modeled. There are numerous ways to bring the volume back up. You can adjust it in the preamp settings, add an eq to boost the level or adjust the output block settings. There are currently no clipping meters but it has been suggested on IdeaScale. I'd suggest going over and voting it up.
  9. That's possible; I was guessing with my response as well.
  10. I gave DT Edit a try yesterday and, although it's a terrific and well designed program, it doesn't seem to be necessary to get amazing sounds out of Helix and a DT amp. I believe I can get everything I need out of the DT with a L6 Link cable and a MIDI cable. I set up a few presets and they sound amazing. I'll be uploading some to CustomTone later today. Since Helix can transmit 6 instant MIDI commands when a preset is selected, I set up 3 of those commands to turn off the preamp, load the cab I want and switch to the correct topology. Then I set up 3 of the footswitches to allow toggling between Class A/AB, Triode/Pentode and Reverb On/Off. This works perfectly and sounds awesome! I'm getting ready to experiment with it some more now. I think I'll even try a dual amp preset that switches topologies per amp.
  11. I was having that problem quite a bit yesterday. That was using Chrome so I loaded it up in Firefox and it's been fine.
  12. It just locks the cable in place. Doesn't affect the sound (unless the cable accidently gets pulled out).
  13. Here's mine. I have no idea why it only shows up sideways.
  14. That's tough to answer without more information. What kind of music do you want to play? Where will you be playing? What's your budget? What other gear is in your signal chain (stomp boxes, POD's, etc...)?
  15. I'd like to know what Line 6's thinking was when they developed the preset TEMPLATES -> 04D DT25-DT50 Remote. I know this preset is mostly to show off how to use MIDI to control switching channels, triode/pentode, Reverb and Class A/AB, but I don't understand why they stacked 2 preamps which will be going into the DT preamp. Effectively it's stacking 3 preamps! It does sound good though. I think I might give that 'disable the DT preamp thru DT Edit' thing a go.
  16. The left and right should have the metal plate. Mine does. If yours is missing I'd contact Line 6.
  17. I'm having great success with Helix and my DT25. First off, like silverhead said, they didn't build any interaction between the DT and Helix, yet. I've tried 2 methods and both of them are working just fine. The 1st method is with the L6 Link cable and a MIDI cable. There's a preset (TEMPLATES -> 04D DT25-DT50 Remote) that's already set up for this and has footswitches for selecting things like channels, Class A/AB, Triode/Pentode, and Reverb. It's a good template but I prefer making my own using the DT Amplifier MIDI Implementation Guide available here on the Line 6 website. The 2nd way is to use the 4-cable method. There's also a template for this (TEMPLATES -> 02A 4-Cable Method) that works really well. I'm really hoping that Line 6 adds HD500X style DT integration in the near future but these workarounds are easy to implement and sound great. I hope one or both of these methods work for you.
  18. I'll try to explain preset TEMPLATES 02A 4-Cable Method Selecting the effects send/return footswitch routes your signal from Helix through the front of your amp and turns off the Helix preamp. This way you're using your entire amp. The signal comes back into Helix at the same send/return block so that it can use the post fx located on path 1B. The output for this preset goes to the effects return of your amp to take advantage of your power amp. Guitar -> Minotaur -> Helix fx send -> front of your amp -> your amp's preamp -> your amp's fx send -> Helix fx return -> volume pedal -> Simple Delay -> Room Reverb -> Helix 1/4" out -> your amp's fx return -> your amp's power amp -> whatever cabinet you have your amp connected to. Selecting the effects send/return footswitch again turns off the effects loop and turns on the preamp in Helix. This way you're only using the power amp section of your amplifier. Guitar -> Minotaur -> Helix preamp -> volume pedal -> Simple Delay -> Room Reverb -> Helix 1/4" out -> your amp's fx return -> your amp's power amp -> whatever cab you're connected to.
  19. Yep, my bad. Late September. Still I remember them only missing it by a couple of days.
  20. Couldn't see the forest thru the trees, eh? :)
  21. We were told the end of summer and the official end of summer IS in late October. They only missed it by a few days. The 1st production run obviously sold out so companies got an equal percentage of their pre-orders. I ordered from Sweetwater at the beginning of July and got one from the first batch of Sweetwater units. I've heard almost nothing but bad things about GC and MF regarding them feeding people a bunch of BS excuses and pushing back dates.
  22. I have the Korean made JTV69. The quality is excellent. I love the neck (and I usually play thinner necks) My Variax 500 has never had a glitch since I bought it in 2004. I've had the JTV for close to 2 years now with no problems. There's a standard 1 year warranty but I bought mine from Sweetwater and they always add another year. I have some really nice guitars too but my JTV69 gets played 75% of the time.
  23. Nice man!
