Yes, I was doing this with Helix hooked up via L6 Link and DT Edit on my PC going through MIDI cables. I've also done it with Helix via L6 Link and Helix via MIDI cable. The POD HD should work as well. Also, if you don't have it already, download the DT MIDI Implementation Guide http://line6.com/support/manuals/dt25hd which was a big help to me.

I took a look at the manual for your amp online and it looks to me like it should be fairly easy to accomplish. Give this a shot and let us know. I think this would work: Set up 3, or however many you want, footswitches to send MIDI commands in the Command Center FS8 -> Command=MIDI CC, MIDI Ch=1, CC#=1, Value=1 FS9 -> Command=MIDI CC, MIDI Ch=1, CC#=2, Value=1 FS10 -> Command=MIDI CC, MIDI Ch=1, CC#=3, Value=1 Push both Channel Select buttons on your amp to put it into MIDI Learning Mode Press FS8 on Helix, the Amp Channel 1 LED should start to blink Select the target amp channel using the channel select buttons on your amp Repeat for the other footswitches Push both Channel Select buttons on your amp to exit Learning Mode I believe that once you go through this procedure once, you can use the same MIDI values in any preset without having to set up your amp again. So I set it all up and it does work. I'm getting sound out of the DT and into Reaper via USB. The two sound the same so I'm not sure how Helix and the DT are interacting. It sounds good though. Path 1 ended up looking like Guitar -> Return 1 -> Helix Cab w/mic -> Chorus -> Delay -> Reverb -> Output block set to Send 3/4 Path 2 Input = Mic -> Helix Cab w/mic -> Output block set to USB 1/2 Cabling looks like: Helix -> DT via L6 Link DT FX Send -> Helix Return 1 Helix Send 3 -> DT FX Return DT XLR Out -> Helix Mic In Helix -> PC via USB I used DT Edit to set up the DT in advance. Edit: I think it does open up some possibilities. If I change the cab model on path 2 or add in an FX, the sound changes in Reaper but doesn't affect the DT. I saved the preset so, when you get your Helix, I can send it to you to experiment with.

I'm trying to make this work. The cabling is crazy. It doesn't seem possible to turn off the mic model for any of the Helix cabs (which probably makes sense). I'll try with a mic model and keep setting this patch up.

Same here. Mine hasn't been on the floor yet.

I hope you guys that are still waiting get your units very soon. I read in one of the threads that Line 6 is trying really hard to actually have some on the shelves for the Holidays. I guess it will depend on how many additional orders they've received since the 1st production run. I think they're working on the 3rd shipment now as the 2nd batch shipped to retailers last week.

All kinds of things. There are several different ways to run them: Use Helix as an FX only unit and run right into the front of the DT Use the 4-cable method so you have the option of using Helix FX into the DT preamp and amp or Helix FX and preamp into the DT power amp. L6 Link along with a MIDI cable which lets you do about anything you'd like with the Helix/DT combination It's really fun exploring the different options.
-
I'll try your idea tonight or tomorrow night. Should work. L6 Link and a MIDI cable works really well. Don't even need DT Edit; Helix takes care of bypassing the preamp, selecting topology and toggling reverb on/off.

From the title of this thread I'm assuming that you mean the Glenn DeLaune signature edition Helix? :D
-
They are definitely on the ball. There's a really, really strong possibility that one of the new fx will be a reverse delay.

One of the reasons for separate preamp and power amp blocks is to allow mixing and matching them. There are several suggestions on ideascale for this feature: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Independent-pre-and-power-amp-blocks/748793-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Allow-the-power-amp-to-be-used-as-a-separate-block/727260-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/DT-power-amp-model/776899-23508 Check them out and vote them up if you'd like to see this feature.

Yep, pretty much nailed it. 4-cable method lets you do both but requires all those extra cables. I think it sounds amazing straight into the fx return.
-
Based on a 'not so subtle' hint in the TGP mega-thread today, I wouldn't be surprised to see this feature in FW 1.04, which should drop this week or next.

Love how that last post was tactfully dripping with sarcasm. Nice job actually. No problem though. I just didn't get it that you were getting it. Anyhow, at great risk of replying to the "OBVIOUS nature" I've stumbled across a thread, with an official Line 6 reply, which makes me think that even the inverted colors involved different screens. I do hope this helps: http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/27628/ Anyhow, sorry if anything I previously posted came across as disrespectful or condescending; that definitely was not my intent.

You cannot change the color of the display without replacing parts. You either bought one with the orange display or you bought one with the green display.

Line6 Discontinuing JTVs?
DarrellM5 replied to johoffry's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I owned a Variax 500 for 11 years and it was still working perfectly when I sold it last year. I feel more confident with my JTV69 just because it's got terrific pickups to fall back on if the electronics decided to malfunction. I own a dozen guitars and the 69 gets played over 90% of the time. I really hope they don't discontinue them anytime soon. I'm thinking about adding an 89F to my collection just in case. I did notice on Sweetwater's website that the JTV's that are out of stock say "It's arriving soon". The latest date of manufacture that I can find for any JTV at Sweetwater is January of 2014 ((89F). The rest of their in stock guitars are 2013's and even a 2012. -
I'm curious to learn more about the MIDI capabilities as well. I assume that it can pass MIDI data through just due to the fact that the MIDI ports are labeled IN and OUT/THRU.

Can i connect a Midi Keyboard to the HD500X
DarrellM5 replied to Segomil's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You can connect it to your HD500X and they can communicate with each other. However, I don't believe the HD500X can do MIDI over USB like Helix so I don't think it will work for getting the MIDI commands into your DAW. -
Yep, that's what I was trying to explain. The manual does a much better job though.
-
Thanks for the new patches!!! Although I've been spending all my time with Helix I think I'll give these a whirl tonight on the HD500X. I'm curious to see how they sound with a Schecter KM-7 and an Ibanez RGIR27FE, both of which are 7 string guitars. The KM-7 has SD Nazgul and Sentient Pickups and the Ibanez has EMG 707 actives.

Highlight one of the amps or effects on path 1A, press ACTION, drag it down and it will create path 1B, press ACTION again to release it. You'll notice that 1B splits from 1A but merges later on down the path. If you select the point that it merges (merge block), you can press ACTION to drag it down so that 1B has it's own output and doesn't merge back into 1A. Go to the output block for 1A or 1B, rotate the joystick to route it to path 2A. Highlight one of the amps or effects on path 2A, press ACTION, drag it down and it will create path 2B, press ACTION again to release it.

Count me in; tha's a sweeeeeet bag!!!!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, I've seen both colors but there's no mention of it in the manual and the only thing I google turned up was someone communicating with tech support on their display being really hard to read. They mentioned that they had one of the orange ones, not the green one. This made me think that it's dependent on the actual display LCD installed in your unit and that it's not a setting that you can change.
-
I don't believe that you can change the display color. I think it would require actually changing the display LCD. It does look like Line 6 used some orange displays and some green displays though.
