  1. In the mean time, you can accomplish this by using multiple identical cabs and using a different mic on each one.
  2. I might give it a shot. That particular song doesn't really appeal to me. Maybe I need to listen to it a few more times. I am a fan of Warren Hayne's playing though.
  3. I'd start by watching the Warren Hayne's Rig Rundown on Premiere Guitar. His tech takes the interviewer through a tour of his rig. Here's the link: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Rig_Rundown_Govt_Mules_Warren_Haynes
  4. There are a couple of really good threads on this here on the forum. I'm using Helix with my DT25 and getting terrific results. One method is to use a free program called DT Edit via MIDI and turn off the amp, cab and microphone modelling in the amp. You only have to do this once as the DT25 will keep these settings until you go in and change them. Then just hook up the L6 Link cable and you're good to go using Helix full amp models. Another is to set up Helix to send MIDI commands to the DT25 so that whenever you switch to that patch it will configure the amp. Check out this thread for more info: http://line6.com/support/topic/18843-helix-dt25-worthy-of-more-exploration/
  5. I almost exclusively use Workbench to set up alternate tunings. I've got my JTV-69 loaded with some Devin Townsend tunings (open C and open B ) and some tunings for Keith Merrow, Adrian Legg and Leo Kottke songs. I also loaded the JTV-89 models in it.
  6. I wonder how fast they're cranking them out. The 3 JTV-69 models (SSS) that Sweetwater does have in stock are one 2013, one 2014 and one 2015.
  7. I'm using it into an Alto TS110A PA speaker. Sounds great. The Opera 605 should be good to go since it's powered.
  8. That is interesting. Can you switch the topologies on Channel A via MIDI commands or is it just completely disabled when the L6 Link cable is connected? I'm at work or I'd give it a try instead of asking.

Same result here. Everything I've tried it into sounds amazing (DT25, Alto TS110A, Peavey Bravo 112, Randall RH100 w/4x12 cab, Vetta II, BlackStar ID30). I can only imagine how awesome it sounds through that PT100.
  10. Right on! Glad it worked out that way and that you're happy with your purchase. Those pickups must be amazing because I've been completely satisfied with the pickups in my Korean model.
  11. That's easily achievable with Helix. Actually, that's pretty simple compared to some of the patches I've seen (and built).
  12. A single footswitch can be assigned to do things on both paths. For example, I can set up a patch where Path 1 has 16 effects blocks and feeds into Path 2, which has another 16 blocks and goes to my amp or FRFR solution. I can have a single footswitch turn off a clean amp in Path 1, turn on a couple effects pedals on either path, turn on an amp in Path 2, change a couple settings on an effect in either path and so on. Each footswitch can be assigned to do up to 8 things. It's really amazing.
  13. +1 to what PeterHamm said plus: 6. Depending on my mood, I've been running Helix into the front of amps, in the 4-cable method and to a PA speaker. Sometimes I do all 3 at once. It sounds amazing in every one of these configurations. As an effects only unit going directly into the front of an amp it's awesome. I prefer the 4 cable method though, with a standard amp, which provides more options. For my DT25 I prefer using the L6 Link. The amps I've experimented with, so far, are the DT25, a BlackStar ID30:TVP, a Vetta II and a Randall RH100. Each of them sounded great.
  14. I'll have to try this as well. I've never even touched the LVM switch.
  15. Well that went straight into my large OneNote Helix Tips file. Thanks!!!
  16. That is pretty cool. I'm off to check it out.
  17. If you're using them as effects loops the only difference I can tell is that, if you leave them separate, you have the option of sticking some other blocks between them. I tend to just use the loop. Another reason is that sometimes you may want to send the signal out but you don't want it back. For example, sending it out to another amp. Or you may just want to use a return to bring an outside item into your signal chain, like another instrument or a metronome or external looper.
  18. Wow, I really like that. Great stuff!
  19. While I do expect that Line 6 will stay on the ball for quite awhile with updates and new features for Helix, I totally agree that one should buy it for the current feature set. I feel that I got my money's worth with Helix right out of the box. Any updates or new additions on Line 6's part is icing on the cake and greatly appreciated. So I'm really excited for the next FW update as well. I'm really hoping that there's a new killer amp in there.
  20. Well my test worked. DI out of my DT into the Helix mic input works fine and I'm getting 48v when I measure between pins 1& 2 or 1 & 3 with zero volts between pins 2 & 3. EDIT: BTW my Helix came from the first shipment in October.
  21. I really like running the Helix through my Alto TS110a, which cost me $200 new. I think it's one of the best 'bang for your buck' options out there. I've heard great stuff about their 12" version as well.
  22. Hmmm. I've often wondered if everything on my Helix, and even on the HD500X I used to own, works. There are quite a few things I haven't even tried (SPDIF, CV Jack, Mic Input). I don't have a microphone but I guess I could check the input by running the DI out of my DT25 into it. Maybe I can check the phantom power with a voltmeter. Any better ideas?
