Around 1980/81 I (i think the timeline is right) was there in SF Cali at a training session/class for work and went to a Major Music Store in the area (sry don't remember the name) that just got Midi, for the 1st time ever. This was before the "standard" was established for how Midi wire up on the connector was set in stone, for all keyboards and FX/stomps. So yea, I was there pre-Midi too. ; ) I already have Luna, Cubase 10.5x, Logic X, and Studio One 4 on my Mac now. last thing I need is another DAW host lol.

That's more than likely correct lol .

Its not a Mac thing, as it should work. Found this tidbit is about 10 seconds... These computers support up to 192 kHz sample rate for audio playback: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) through MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) through MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014) through iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2014) iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) through iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac mini (Late 2014) rd2rk, this isn't the 1st time you have said negative things about Macs. You are about the most negative Mac person I have encountered. Why is that? There's room for both platforms in music isnt there? That said, what's wrong with a 48k sample rate anywho? If anyone can actually "hear" the "additional resolution" added between that and a 96k mastered CD, more power to ya lol. ; )

For a "tiny" bit more moola you could put that Helix in a rack and step all over the controller and Mission pedals instead. Just saying. ; ) Ok maybe it's not a "tiny" bit more, but its not that much to add for the rack model.
-
Yea there's a few. I own them all so just going by what I've listened to and not hear-say. XLN Audio is another Company you might like, good quality drums there. Then there's fxPansion's BFD-3. Native Instruments has a few drum programs too. And last but not leased, Steinberg has one called Groove Agent and is a monster! Slate Drums 5 is not bad either. ; ) LOL just figured out you weren't asking about other drum programs... Sorry ; ) To answer that Id say the Line-6 speaker emulations inside of Helix are pretty much top-shelf. I loaded a few in when I first got Helix, and then just used what was in the box. Now with the Speaker emulations in the "Powercab +'s" I have all the speaker tones I can ever use/need.
-
Spend time learning Helix- that is the single most important thing. You could also do what I did. Keep your Helix and get a Kemper Profiler. I have arguably the best of 2 processing worlds now (and all I have time for as well). Of course, the KPA wont sound any better either unless you spend "time" with it.
-
Well, its going to be analog unless you have implants. ; ) But seriously, check out the Powercab +, they are awesome!
-
The tuner in the editor doesn't work either! ; )
-
If ya wanna sound different then you are "technically" correct. It is up to the user. If you want to sound the way you sound go for it. Notice I didn't say sound good, just different. And yes, "good" is always full of opinion. Clapton sounds good however and thats fact. ; ) LOL As always YMMV and thats ok. ; )
-
Did someone mention just using the volume knob on the Helix? ; )
-
I use a pair of Line-6 PowerCab +'s, and also have these setup thru a mixer to use a pair of HR-824 monitors as well. The kewl thing about the Powercabs is that you can turn the volume all the way down on them, and still send the "line-out" signals into the mixer (and then into the Audio Interface/FRFR studio monitors) and get the speaker emulated tones from the Powercabs into my recording/listening!

"- Five Amp Characters, Ten Overall Tones: Katana MkII's five primary amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds, plus a dedicated voice optimized for acoustic-electric guitar. The characters have been extended with re-voiced variations, providing a wider palette of tone options to craft your personal sound." So what you are doing it sounds like, is running one color (tone) into another color (tone). This wont work. You either need to run Helix into a Flat response Full range (FRFR) powered speaker or monitor, or just use Helix as an overpowered stompbox with your Boss Kantana MK-2. Impossible to make this work? No, but it will be a harder process to make anything amp wise that is already tone colored sound good with another one. EDited: "You did not mention what you were using for a speaker, and that is 50+ percent of your tone." Yes you did- sorry I missed that. The Headrush has had good marks on the Kemper site by some saying it does sound good, so I dont understand why Helix wont work with that and sound ok. Do what Cru suggested above- watch Youtube and Jason is a good choice there.

Yea mine did the same thing, there was no rebuild that I could see either. I finally clicked on the HX-Edit tab and it came up ok. I need to "double-check" ands see if I have the new stomps.
-
Just watch the new meters! ; )
-
I was lookin back to see if you were lookin back to see if I was looking back to see if you were lookin back at me . ; ) You didn't need to correct- I knew you knew. like I said it was those that didnt...
-
Actually amplifier output power is measured in watts (P is power in Watts), and P = V (voltage) × I (amps). But you already know this stuff. This is for anyone else who doesn't. ; )
-
Agreed. So until we get the meters in the editor I'll find me a comfy stool to sit on. ; )
-
And then add the word "Solved" to the opening topic please. Thanks.
-
There is already a thread about this here. Did up update to 2.91?
-
Ya know, at one point wayyyyy back it was stated here that alternate tunings were not possible for the Variax too. ; ) If it is possible I'd like to see it done, of course with a "turn-off" option in the menus for those that dont want/need it.
-
Thanks for the heads up!
-
1st things 1st, I appreciate the work on the patch to add the meters. This is another "request" for adding to the Helix "HX-Editor", and no, this time it's not a tuner... ; ) Sorry if I missed this if it has been requested already. I'd like those meters put on the Editor. Why? Because my Helix is across the room and I'd like to see them working from my desktop editor. Look I know some of you couldn't care less about the new meters and that's fine, just don't look at um. But for those like me who wish to see and verify what the compressor is doing, Id like them to be more accessible. An "eye- opener" for me was watching Jason Sadites video - which showed me why I never had these compressor settings right in the first place. That also showed me why I need to not only hear, but see what Im hearing as well to verify what I am hearing. I want those meters on my editor. If you have not watched this, do so.
