I don't think so, not one bit. In fact I really really Liked Helix before the snapshots were released and Im betting I'm not alone on this. The way I see it, live your life on what might happen later you will (most of the time), be disappointed. That said, I do love the snapshot additions and Im grateful for the L6 Dev's impressive work!

Helix and DT integration (without jumping thru hoops) would have been nice, but it just wasn't released that way by Line 6. You can wish in one hand and spit the other "right now" until the cows come home and it won't make it so. Thats a shame, but it is what it is at the moment. That said, I really "really" disagree with you about having to have a tube amp "of any kind", to make Helix, Kemper, Axe FX II or any other A= processor like these sound great and blow you away. Time to think outside of the amp in the room box. My Helix (and Kemper) is sounding just wonderful on my studio Mackie 824 monitors, or the FireHawk 1500 amp, or thru an SLA-2 into a Marshall 1960a cab. There is an old Fender SuperSonic sitting close by however. Not using it much these days, but maybe that mojo tone I'm getting is coming from that? ;) As always, YMMV.

Sigh, well that smells to me like you burnt the beans. Id contact L6 support for an RMA to repair/replace, or if its new enough maybe the dealer might replace it?

Is there anything else usb wise on this PC/OS not working as it was once, beside Helix? If you have another item that is usb and its working now, move it to another usb port. If Windows sees and re-configures it again, then Im thinking Helix has a port issue (as you guessed earlier).

Did you happen to change the USB cable out?

LOL jpjr50 I'll match your offer and throw in a set of slightly used strings!

Could be the Powered Monitor/amp & Cab you are playing thru. They all sound different and you usually get what you pay for. Could be any extra equipment used in making the video (if any). And don't forget the most important thing, that every little thing does matter, and that tone also comes from the fingers and touch. Its not Helix because I can get the tones too (not taking anything away from this guy in the video, he is a good player) in this video playing thru my Strat>Helix>mixer>Apollo Interface>Mackie 824 powered monitors (or the Firehawk 1500).

The answer with buying Helix versus a standard pod (or other dated and cheaper guitar processor) is the same concept as buying a cheap guitar versus a good guitar that plays well. Let me explain. The better the guitar (yes it costs more) in most cases means that it plays better too, and is less stressful for your learning fingers. That in turn leads to playing longer, and learning faster. The same thing goes with better guitar processors. The better they sound, the more you want to play. :)

I use Mission pedals as my controllers for volume and Wah. The only other pedal I would use is my Fulltone Deja-vibe.

I read once where Keeley suggests to try the compressor after the amp/cab. I didnt think to do that either till then, but have come to like it there on some patches.
-
Thats the thing but until everyone experiences it themselves it won't ever make any real sense to them as to the tonal differences. In other words and as far as FRFR powered monitors (and guitar preamps) goes in most cases, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the "bundle" info. Im hoping that L6 designs the usage (slots) for IR's with their own numbering system at some point, where all we have to do is a simple save, and it names that IR and then saves it as a part of the preset. Yea it would make the save bigger but the alternative is what we have now.

Heres a short vid of me messing around with Helix and a Dlb Reverb patch. Now some may not like this tone (and each to their own), but I just DIG it. To me, this is worth the cost of Helix alone.

Im moving in with Silver ;)

Also take a look at these when you get time- much good info here to help folks. Snapshots Helix Custom Presets on Facebook Wiki

A much MUCH better post and explanation Molchmon! Yes, time spent on Helix will reward you well Im thinking! You will come to love the tones as most of us here do, and I think you will learn that this thing leaves a Pod in the dust tone wise. Don't worry about the learning curve. We all have to go thru that part (me esp). ;)

Some can hear the differences but for me its hard to hear the difference too, so I just trust in the fact that it sounds good to my ears, and that a higher sample rate IR should sound better than a lower one. Why? From what i can gather and from what I've read and seen on a graphic of a sample IR, the number of "points" that were sampled in making the IR have more at a higher sampled rate, than a lower one does. Whats that mean to us? Well, The more "points" on the graph of a higher rate IR sample adds a better detail (digital description) of the sample (sound quality) that was "copied" or sampled. Thus a better copied sound. There are others that can describe this better, but for me the bottom line in the end result on any IR/patch, is how it sounds to "you".

I too still like Fractal products, and I still own a Kemper. Every time I start playing with it there gos 3 or 4 hours of life. :P I of course love my Helix rack too and tone wise it sounds great after minor tweaking. Look its been a long week and maybe I'm just tired, but the OP's remarks are not anywhere close to constructive criticism, pisses me off, and after owning and playing on Helix for a while I know this unit and the others just do not deserve that kind of flat statement 13 year old bashing with no explanation given other than it costs too much so its not worth the time. Yes thats another flat statement. And no, the milage does not vary on that one. ;)

Once again + 1 to Silver, on always taking the high road. Im sorry but I just can't do that. I have no tolerance for those who blame bad tone on how much a guitar processor (I.E. Helix) costs them, and without providing one iota of information or an example to back it up.
