  1. One thing I don't like about this GT is that it has an external power supply. For $1k, I shouldn't have to pack around a wall wart or lump in the middle PS. It should be built in.
  2. I have to admit being a little envious of the built in Bluetooth and IOS/Android editing capabilities and as an ex-GT user, I'll probably acclimate to the Boss GUI fairly quickly. Not gonna pass judgement on its tonal capabilities until I've used it and spent some time with it. I think that the Helix is the best modeler I've used to date but at the same time, I also think that if you had the luxury of having enough time with the best of them, you could get them to sound very similarly. To me, when it comes to general tonalities, it's a matter of how capable the EQ is on each device. Amp feel/response is for me where things break down for modelers. That you can't fix with EQ and no amount of tweaking will cure it's ills if that one factor just ain't there in the first place.
  3. It's the Cab that does the coloring more so than the amp. I seriously doubt that you'd hear much of a difference using a dedicated power amp instead of the Engl. Also, you likely have your Helix connected to the Engl's Effect In, not the out... unless you're running 4CM. If not, connecting the Helix to the Engl's Effects Out would produce no sound. Just sayin'...
  4. Not sure it’s possible to replicate that effect with the existing amps and overdrives. So I suggested this - https://line6.ideascale.com/a/ideas/search?templateId=0&query=Tape+saturation+
  5. For my purposes, I wouldn’t expect the Helix’s built in looper to get any better than it is. I already want something from dedicated loopers that I may never get - a dry kill switch. When I use my RC-20XL with my Helix, the looper’s dry signal mixes with the signal that the Helix is already passing through and causes some phase cancellations. If I had a dry kill switch on the RC, this wouldn’t be an issue.
  6. Cool! Was that Vinnie Colaiutta (sp?) on the kit?
  7. 😂 I’m with you there. The only thing I’ve used in 2.30 is the SP Comp. Ha!
  8. Here's the bottom line. If a pedal has an effects loop, that pretty much enables it for 4CM.
  9. Huh? I’ve owned a GT-5, 6 & 8 and 4CM has always been doable on all of them and the I/O on this GT-1000 isn’t much different. The only real difference is that it has XLR connectors and an extra effects loop. Although I never owned either, I know that the GT-10 & 100 are no exception to this. All you need to do 4CM is an effects loop. In fact the early GT series were some of the first few pedals that encouraged players to use 4CM. So, I have to ask, what in tarnation are you talking about???
  10. I think I saw one of those there too. Have a look around, man.

  12. Hmmm... I was hoping for more than that.
  13. Still looking for the “controversial†part of this update. I guess we’ll see when it’s released.
  14. The first two are preamps only - not amps. Yes, some of the HK amps will allow this but most of the functionality on most tube amps that have Midi seems limited to just channel switching. The ones that have more functionality seem pretty few and far between. And are horribly expensive.

    2.31 Release Date

I’m with you on that sentiment. I updated to 2.30 but the only thing I’ve changed is my use of the SP Comp on my patches.
  16. Have you thought about maybe borrowing a guitar temporarily?
  17. I’m afraid that there is no electronic solution to that issue. It sounds like your guitar needs fret leveling and maybe a truss rod adjustment. From what you describe, it sounds like you play a lot of open D and G chords. Hence the wear at the second and third frets. I think that there is no option other than taking your guitar to a luthier. Sorry.
  18. ^^THIS!^^I remember that feature as well. Not only was it a useful feature, it was efficient and elegant.

    2.31 Release Date

Yes, but I'd bet that they only modeled the preamp. For all intents and purposes, the power amp is irrelevant when it comes to an acoustic guitar's tone.
