Bleachbit? Oh, just looked it up. Har har.
-
😅 No but I do curse at the dried spittle spots on it. They're not way to remove, by the way.

Alright... So... Who cleans their Helix periodically? I wipe my Helix down with a slightly damp cloth once a month. At least.
-
Well, at this point, I'm so satisfied with how everything sounds and works that only a global effects loop, one that is unaffected by preset changes, or independent preamp and power amp blocks would be the only things that would get me to update again. Other than those two things everything's just peachy for me.
-
Yeah, me too. I still don't see why we should be forced to have to reload our customized presets and set lists. It's fine for Line 6 to have new presets that take advantage newly implemented features but I want it to be my choice as the whether or not they get loaded onto the Helix. As a gigging musician, I want to be able to update my Helix and use it immediately as I always have. Then later, at a time of MY choosing, check out the new presets... If I want to.
-
I don't know... It just seems like keeping the order of the presets isn't that much to ask for.
-
Frankly I don't understand why we should even have to worry about the order of the presets we've created. Is it really that hard to make the Helix remember which preset goes in which slot? Mine were all screwed up order-wise. To my mind the only reason we should back things up before an update is in case something goes wrong. If the update was successful, the presets should still be there and in the same order.

Hmm. Not sure that mine is actually suffering from the input-Z issue.

I'm currently perfectly happy with the stability of 2.0. I had one crash but it's been admirably stable since. Any compelling reasons to go to 2.01? If the upgrade process wasn't so tedious and sometimes precarious, I wouldn't be asking this.

Helix is stuck in boot after a failed 2.01 firmware update

Seems like you almost want the helix plugged into a UPS when doing an update. Same with the computer if it's a desktop. -
I'm using Fender, Mesa and Matchless models. I think the difference is that while you certainly can use the Micro Amp as a boost and it works great for that, it's primarily designed as a buffer amp as far as I know. In fact, when I use it with my amps, I don't like to turn it off because of the way it clarifies the sound of the guitar. It also gives the guitar more girth at the low end without getting muddy or obnoxious. I liken the sound to the difference you hear in a recording studio when you get to use really high end Burl A/D converters compared to the lower caliber ones that you've had to make do with. Really fat and polished sounding with no harshness in the high frequencies and no tubbiness in the low end. You just hear the entire spectrum of the guitar better.

My friend gave me this pedal years ago and have really enjoyed it in front of my Princeton and Quilter Aviator. It just makes the guitar sound, well, bigger. Any guitar. I've tried it with other modelers before and all it did was make the incoming signal louder - nothing like what it does in front of an amp. With that experience, I didn't expect it to do much with the Helix but to my surprise, it did to the Helix what it does to an amp!!! Soooo COOL!! And batteries seem to last forever in the thing too.

Ha ha. I'm the opposite. I haven't felt the need to tweak anything since I got my sounds all setup. After I updated to 2.0, I had to tweak things as they definitely did change - things got brighter. But since then, nope. Hence my apprehension in updating to 2.01 If they had an IOS app I'd definitely do it but I hate tweaking at home as if have to setup my PA system to get a true read on what I'm getting.

Use 12th fret harmonics. It seems more stable when you do that. Likely because there are fewer other harmonics can that can trick it. With increased granularity that's gonna happen. I kinda wish they'd done a stroboscopic type tuner. I mean, yes it would probably take up a lot of DSP but who cares? Unless you like to be obnoxious and annoy people by not muting the output while you tune, it won't matter.

I don't think our ears hear things perfectly flat.
-
Haven't felt the need for any other pedal other than my looper. If it weren't for the Helix's very paltry loop memory, my RC-20XL would be on eBay.
-
Yes indeed! Then, there's the fact that not only do different microphones 'hear' things differently, you'd also have to find one that hears things the way your ears do. Good luck with that!

Amen!!

I had a crash last Wednesday night. Luckily it was at the end of the gig and I was just tweaking a preset volume before I put things away. Last night's gig went without a hitch. Think I'll leave it alone for a while.

Yup, had a freeze tonight. Fortunately, I was just editing a patch. I have to confirm what someone else said. That the patches are brighter.
