  1. Good story. "S"! I too have been successful at being unsuccessful, lol. Actually, I'm lucky to be alive and trying to have fun playing guitar right now, lol. Failure leaves the mark of experience on people over the span of their lives, lol. Failure is the placenta of success, lol. The way you describe playing guitar is very similar to how I'm learning. I went through pain like cruisinon spoke about, although, I knew what was happening since pain is one of my best friends, lol, so I just stopped playing so hard in between learning and fixed that. Different instruments can help with breaking up the monotony. For instance, I play a Uke, 5 string Banjo, Acoustic guitar, Keys with a KB37, a violin Bass guitar and a few other guitars I've built or bought. Also, I'll use different amplifiers/settings from time to time. Taking long breaks lets you switch gears. Watch some youtube teachers from time to time can be a good thing too. Most importantly, "never give up", which has to be the one 'mean factor' in the equation/formula that means the most, other than playing from the heart and practicing regularly. Change up the style/genre. Try new things when you can and Keep it Rock'in! DId I mention I'm starting to put a hurt'in on the frets of my strat now, lol.
  2. I agree the full amp models are very workable with the DT's.
  3. Does the UX1 have a "Line In" or just an "instrument in"? You can run the GT6 1/4 out into the "Instrument In" and set up a clean path through the UX1 by using "No Amp". I did this with my UX2. Ran L/R 1/4 outs into the "Line Input's" respectively. Then I set up a dual path in Pod Farm or GearBox with "No Amps" and adjusted the bypass volume accordingly. I even tried adding a Comp and EQ in each patch and played around with those a little. I recorded using RiffWorks Standard and went to town with the Instant Drummers. Sounded pretty good. Of course you can make as complex or simple as you want. If your not having fun give up and go back to the basics.
  4. Ok thanks, that's the one I thought it was. :)
  5. Your Welcome, but just to be sure are you talking about the onboard pedal or the EX-1 which is the add-on pedal?
  6. Thanks, I'm using 1 DT50 Half Stack. Yes, you read my mind. It does clip easy with full models but it it seems workable at low volume. The pre's are the go to.
  7. Thanks for the response. I haven't tried it yet and I'm reading up on it now "the implementation guide". I wanted to try to use it to change channels and use the boost and maybe try some other settings changes using midi. I still need to try it. I think channel 1 is the one I need to use, is it not?
  8. Should I be able to use just one midi cable going from the HD500 "midi out" to the DT50 "midi in" to send a signal to the DT in order to turn on and off the DT's midi options such as the boost, change channel, etc.?
  9. I just use the HD500 or one of the other I have such as the X3 Pro, KB37 Studio, or UX2 TonePort via USB into the 'puter when I record. But today I played around with $15 Logitech Dynamic USB mic into the 'puter just for fun. For me running one of the Line 6 AISO devices via USB into the 'puter is better.
  10. I heard that if too much pressure is used on the pedal that the gear on the pot in the EX-1 can become disengaged causing it to not work. Maybe you can look at that is you think it might be the cause.
  11. That sounds like a good start ' cause you're going to let your new amps preamp do that work for you.
  12. When I said Win 7 Mode I don't boot to it I just go to it after the computer boots normally with the metro screen. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.
  13. Looks like yes. Check out this archived thread > http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/69409/ Another archived thread below Best Way to Connect HD400 to a Marshall AVT150H Head
  14. I must admit that's messed up. What kind of computer do you have? Have you tried all the USB ports on that computer? Some USB ports don't work well. How are your default sound setting set? You can always call Line 6 tech dept.
  15. I use Win 8.1 in Win 7 mode all the time. Should be able to do the same with Win 10.
  16. I think/hope your right Win 10 is available for Win 7 also. I may do this with my Win 7 'puter.
  17. I can see it being an advantage when doing live music. Not having to reach for a mouse, etc. can be easier. When I use my iPad with the Mobile In it's nice to just use "the finger" to adjust settings or change models.
  18. Just in case....are you using a high gain patch and with a noise gate? Just checking 'cause if you don't that might give some noise no matter what in some cases.
  19. Cool, I'm a key and mouse guy too. Still use a desktop with Win 7. Have a laptop with Win 8.1 but it's not touch screen. I can't see the touch screen being good for me since I'll just get the screen all crummy and I'll just be cleaning it more. I can see it now, those mechanics getting all greased up with dirt mixed in and using a laptop touchscreen, lol, and I can just imagine the messy mad scientist getting their caustic hands all over the screen and then the delayed effects from residual chemicals. LOL
  20. Oooops. sorry if you misread my post. I didn't mean to impose that you need anything. Everyone has their reasons. Peace :)
  21. That's how I was until I had made the jump. I don't know about 10 yet but 8 can be run like Win 7. The layer you don't want isn't very hard to understand. Some people depending on what they are doing in college are required to get and use the new "Surface". So much of the next generation will have Win 10 and so on.....I suppose.
  22. Not sure but I don't think it has a foot pedal 1/4" port.
  23. Cool, I'm on the ready for the update too. Thanks! Here's a link to the FAQ's on Win 10 free upgrade >> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-faq?ocid=win10_auxapp_LearnMore_win10faq
  24. That's a nice thought but I Line 6 is done with software support updates for the SJ's. It would be welcome if they did an update that added a feature or two or just improved things bit.
  25. I played again with the DT50/HD500 4CM in LVM and love the control I have with it. I played yesterday for about 40 min. and today for about 1 1/4 hours. Just 'cause I thought of it ran the infrared thermometer around the back of the chassis and the front to see what range I had at an ambient temp of 76 F and 55% humidity, lol. Pointing the thermometer at the power tube section I got a high of 156 F and it cooled quickly to 136 F. Everywhere else around the chassis along the metal face front and back was 100 F. The transformer areas where 100 F. I don't have a fan blowing on it since it's relatively cool in here. This test was done about 3 minutes after I powered the amp down. I measured the temp of my DT50 Head by just holding a Cat No 22-171 Radio Shack Waterproof Pocket IR Thermometer as close to the screen in three spots. In the middle were the tubes are measured approx. 170 degrees F, to the left and right were around 90 degrees F. I would estimate the glass is around 200 degrees. Remember, this is an estimate and the testing was done indoors in a low humidity room at approx 78 degrees F. I've used the Global EQ to cut the lows a little and accent the mids and highs a bit. I like Global EQ and it sure works good. I'm not using an EQ in the chain when using the DT50 live but when I record with the computer using HD500 USB I usually use and EQ in the chain for high gain patches. Seems like all models even the full amp models and effects sound better and respond to tweaking better using the 4CM or it's just me. So far I'm loving the 4CM in both 25w mode and 50w mode. I've got to try micing the cab on this one day when it's quiet in here and try the Direct Cab Simulated Out too. A total of about 3 hours of good playing time so far. 4 cable method. Does it really work? Added another 3 hours of playing total now is 6 hrs, in 45 min. sessions. Used the DT50HD for another 1 hrs. 30 min. 6/24/2015 with DT Edit Updated total = 8 hrs. 15 min. Amp B" doesn't seem to work with my HD500 Add another 45 min. = Total 9 hrs. Add another 1 hr. = Total 10 hrs. Damage to my rig using this set up?
