Sorry. I’m not really in any position to pass this on. Personally, I don’t use 4CM so haven’t experienced these issues and haven’t really paid attention to any associated discussions. Also, I don’t have any influence on website content here. I’m just a user like everyone else with some moderator capabilities. I’m not going to start lobbying for focused content on behalf of a subset of users that doesn’t include me. Threads get pinned by Line 6 either because they have important info they want to push out, or because a user-initiated thread gets overwhelming response and activity. If I wanted a separate thread about a specific topic I would just start it, and invite interested users to participate and ‘follow’ the thread. If there’s sufficient interest it will be lively enough to receive lots of commentary and become a good resource for helpful info. In that case Line 6 may determine it worthy of a sticky. If it fizzles out due to lack of uptake and interest then it should not receive a sticky. For an example of the above, there’s this thread started by a user that was pinned early on.because it received a lot of contributions. It’s still active 7 years later. It has over 1,100 replies. Not sure anyone would read the whole thing at this stage. I wonder what’s on page 17, for instance? Is there something there that would help me? Don’t know, and not about to look. Kind of a victim of its own success I think. … also this one with nearly 2,500 replies ….

Yes. An update is coming 'soon'. Apply your own definition of 'soon' to either be disappointed or elated when it's released.

Go to the Downloads area of this website (see tab at top of this page). Select HX Edit in the Software (middle) field. Download the latest version v3.15. Run the downloaded file and install all components. Then run the HX Edit program with your HX Stomp connected. Follow the instructions.

Amp and cab profiles are not wav files. Can’t be, because you can edit them. A wav file can’t be edited in real time. IRs are wav files and can’t be edited. All the variations of the physical mic/cab an IR is based on are baked into separate individual wav files. That’s why there are thousands of them. You choose one IR at a time and load it - that’s it. If you want a different mic or mic placement you load a different IR. If you want the Line 6 amp and cab models you will need a device that provides them - not the HX FX.

Perhaps an external tuner would be handy for you? As for using a tuner while recording, I prefer to tune up between takes rather than during a take. You find it acceptable to begin recording while out of tune? If your instrument can’t hold its tune for the duration of the take you need to examine your instrument.
-
The tuner operates on the direct, unprocessed input signal. That provides the most accurate tuning capability. A processed signal that includes distortion, delay, chorus, reverb, etc. cannot be used to tune very well. How would you tune a pitch shifted signal? That’s why the only two options are DI and Mute. Technically I suppose it would be possible to continue routing the processed signal to the outputs while the tuner is active and still operating on the DI. Hard to imagine that this would be useful because, well, as stated earlier who wants to hear you tune? And what are the circumstances where the tuner display is useful while playing normally? If you want to pursue this you could post the suggestion on Ideascale. It would be interesting to see if anyone else wants this feature.

That’s not currently possible. It would require a firmware change and update. You could request this feature using Ideascale.

Great. Just to clarify, each time you Save you aren’t saving a snapshot. You are saving the preset. So, yes, if the last Save of the preset happens to have Snapshot 1 active then Snapshot 1 will be active when the preset is recalled. Alternatively, in Global Settings -> Preferences you could set the Snapshot Edits parameter to Recall. That way you would not have to Save the preset after each Snapshot change. You could make desired changes to all Snapshots and simply make sure that Snapshot 1 is active when you finally Save the preset.

Your understanding is correct. If you can, please post links to the videos that you reference so that others here can view and interpret.

There is a hex wrench that comes with a new Helix for that purpose. Look for the socket on the side of the pedal.

Bulk replacement of IR blocks with a Cab block for device resale?
silverhead replied to johnbeamon's topic in Helix
To rationalize not going all the way with the tedious effort described above, I might look at it this way… Either the buyer knows about and understands IRs or they don’t. If they do you can let them know the source of your IRs and suggest they obtain them in order for the presets to work exactly as designed. No need to go into detail about which specific IRs are used - just the provider(s). They will also understand that if they don’t want to do that they will still have the advantage of your presets but will need to replace the IR with their preferred cab in every preset. They’ll still love you. If they don’t know about IRs you can just tell them your presets are almost ready to go. They just need to replace the IR block with a cab block in each preset. And if they don’t want to do that they can perform a device reset as their first operation with their new gear. They won’t know the value of what they’re throwing away but that’s their loss. The extra effort you go to in advance won’t be appreciated. -
That refers to any audio playing separately on your computer, e.g. iTunes, Spotify, or backing tracks. When your X3 is connected to your computer via USB the X3 becomes your computer’s soundcard, meaning the audio generated by your computer is sent to the X3 for playback. The slider (Yes, in the Line 6 Audio Midi devices control panel item) allows you to balance the level of the computer generated audio and your X3-processed guitar as you jam along to backing tracks. Use the Inputs and Recording tab to select the USB channels 1 through 8 option (all 8 channels may already be selected by default), which permits your DAW a to see all 8 Input Source options available in the X3 ASIO driver. As the manual describes, in your DAW tracks you select channels 3/4 for the ‘wet’ (processed) Tone 1 in one track and channel 7 for the associated dry signal in the other track. There’s actually no need to use Tone 2 for the dry signal as I suggested earlier. I had forgotten that the X3 driver provides it directly.

Pod Farm 2.59 - Does it work with macOS Monterey
silverhead replied to ntloser's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
There is a pinned topic at the top of this page regarding Line 6 software compatibility on the newer Mac systems. They keep it up to date. If your system is listed as compatible with POD Farm 2.x then it is compatible. If not listed, it has not yet been tested and found to be compatible. There’s additional info here: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/general-faq/operating-system-information/ -
Any time you record a track in any DAW you need to specify the ‘Input Source’. This refers to the origin, or source, of the signal you want to record based on the physical inputs connected to the audio device (soundcard) your DAW is using for its audio input and output. In some cases you would specify that you want to record the external microphone connected to the soundcard’s Mic input, or a microphone built into the computer. In another case you may want to record an external sound device, e.g. an electronic piano, using the L, R, or both Line inputs connecting the piano to the soundcard. Or, if the soundcard has an input where you have a guitar connected you may want to record that. With an audio interface such as the POD X3 connected to your computer/DAW via USB there are several options. The manual Chapter 8 describes the options that you will be presented with for selection in your DAW. One of the options specifies that you want to record the X3’s Tone 1; another specifies Tone 2.

Your choices are different depending on your goals and planned usage. You say you want to replace your POD X3 and use it with your physical Marshall amp, so a couple of questions to clarify….. - did you connect your POD X3 to your Marshall amp? - if so, are you familiar with the issues involved in using an amp and cab modeling device with a real amp? - are you planning to use the 4 Cable Method (4CM) to make the physical connections between the devices? If you want to always use you Marshall preamp section (I.e. connect your guitar to whatever replacement device you get and then connect that to the Guitar In jack on your Marshall) then you are simply looking for an FX device, or an amp/cab modeling device. Consider the HX FX.

Well, that’s one person’s experience. I think the vast majority of users find that Helix produces far superior tones than the POD X3 series. There are several threads around here that compare the various options re: Helix and POD Go devices…. but searching for them can be frustrating. The Search function here is just not very good. Be patient and try different keyword combinations.

The X3 audio driver provides multiple options for recording into your DAW over the USB connection. See Chapter 8 in the manual. Create a preset that uses Tone 1 for the processing and Tone 2 for the dry (empty) track. The arm 2 tracks for recording in your DAW and assign the Input Sources to Tone 1 and Tone 2 respectively.
-
You don’t mention exactly how you performed the firmware update but you may not have done it properly. To begin, download and install the Pod Go Edit software package. Install all components. Then run the POD Go Edit program with your POD Go connected to your computer via usb. Follow all instructions.

No that’s not possible for a couple of reasons. First, and most importantly, the HD500X processes audio, not midi. It recognizes and responds to certain midi command and control messages as described in the manual but you can’t set a HD500X Input block to the MDI In port. Secondly, here’s the info from the manual about the HD500X Midi Input capabilities: POD HD500X will respond to incoming MIDI messages for remote access of its assignable Footswitch & Pedal Controllers, and for loading Banks & Presets. By omission, performance oriented Midi events including Note On/Off are ignored by the HD500X. If you want to explore other bass tones you should use another Bass tone plug-in that will process your existing midi track in your DAW.

Are you changing presets when you change songs? If so, perhaps the issue is not Modes. You need to be aware that the Snapshot that is active when a preset is loaded is the Snapshot that was active when the preset was last Saved. Try editing your presets so that Snapshot 1 is active when you Save the preset.

A few things to investigate: - could be a power issue especially if your LT is connected to your computer via USB. Try disconnecting. - could be your Helix LT output is set to Line level while your amp is expecting an Instrument level input - if you’re using 4CM and a Helix amp model, check the Hum setting Could be something else too; these are just my immediate thoughts.

Helix 1/4" out out to monitors super low level? help a newbie out
silverhead replied to ididid's topic in Helix
The Helix 1/4 outputs to the speaker RCA inputs should work best imho. Make sure your Helix outputs are set to match the speaker’s RCA Input levels (line vs. instrument, or -10db and +4db. Consult your speaker documentation). Experiment with different settings and you should fine one that suits. See Helix Global Settings -> Ins/Outs. -
This utility does some DSP estimation on a block by block basis. Not sure how accurate but it’s a starting point. https://hxview.netlify.app

Are you using the default settings for the preamps? Like in the real world of physical amps, some are simply louder than others. The amp models reflect this reality. You will need to balance the levels if you are switching among different preamps. You can store these balanced levels (using the DT25 Edit program I think) so that switching among them is seamless. I’m not familiar with this myself so perhaps someone else can point you to the relevant documented details.
