Here is a document I wrote a couple of years ago that may be helpful. I wrote it for my son-in-law and tried to provide a comprehensive overview of setting up an HX FX device and a DT-25 combo amp to work together. I hope at least some of it will be helpful to you. The document refers to some other docs from the Line 6 site and also refers to other setup work I did on his computer. You won’t have access to that of course but I expect you may find it helpful in any case. Note that this document is not produced by Line 6 and represents my own unaffiliated work. Some content may be conceptually misleading and even inaccurate. Use at your own risk. HX:DT - ReadMe.docx

Yes, I am able to reproduce this behaviour. It seems to occur sometimes when you both rotate and move the joystick left/right simultaneously. I think it is a bug. Please open a support ticket to log this with Line 6 Tech Support.

Your video has no narration. I can see the button pushing but really don't know what to look for and didn't notice what I presume I should be seeing. Please explain the bug.

Did you install the most recent version of Helix Native from the Downloads page?

I was responding to the above. I misunderstood.

See manual, Global Settings -> Switches/Pedals, knob 3. To quote: ”By default, Stomp footswitch mode displays 6 stomps. You may also choose “4 Switches”, which replaces FS1 and FS4 with and switches, so you can access preset banks and snapshots from without leaving Stomp mode.” There’s lots of other good stuff in the manual….. ;-)

How are you measuring the bank’s output volume to know they are the same? I presume you mean all presets the bank are ‘the same’? Are you going by settings or using your ears? Why are the volumes different? Different settings and/or different auditory perceptions (e.g. Fletcher Munson effect).

The manual also says "Step on 'Once' to play the recorded loop once through.". I think the keyword there is 'recorded'. This implies that the 'Once' operation is defined to apply to an already recorded loop, not one where the recording is in progress. The operation seems to be unexpected (and undefined) when applied to a recording in progress. Hence I think the answer to your original question 'Is this expected behaviour?' is Yes. Any behaviour is expected for an undefined operation. I'm trying to understand what it would mean to play a recording-in-progress one time. What is it you are attempting or expecting? Note also that the 'Play Once' operation is not dependent on the timing of the switch tap. The playback continues to the end of the reorded loop and then stops, regardless of 'when' during the loop playback you hit the switch. You don't need to time the tap. Specifically, the 'Once' operation does NOT play a full cycle of the loop from the point you hit the switch, past the end of the recording, and then back to that point again.

I think it is most likely the piezo is dirty or failing. And if one is the others may not be far behind. You could try loosening the strings and cleaning the contact points in the saddle where the strings and piezo meet. Use an alcohol solution and cotton swab and let dry fully. Then change your strings to ensure no dirt remains.

1. Yes. You make official feature requests using a service called Ideascale. 2. I think the term for ‘blank canvas’ is FRFR (Full Range Flat Response). And yes, an FRFR speaker/monitor is best when using cab simulations. Do you already have an amp that you would use or are you looking for something? If the latter I suggest you consider FRFR speakers (studio or PA) rather than a traditional guitar amp.

Let me understand. You are hitting ‘Play Once’ after hitting ‘Record’, in other words while recording is in progress? Not sure what to expect in that situation.

Glad to hear that you solved it, at least temporarily. I wonder if this only happens when you have HX Edit running. If so my guess is that it is the USB connection causing communication issues that confuse the Helix firmware. You could try using different USB ports on your PC, and avoid using any USB hubs.

I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly with a Line 6 technical support person. https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html

Is there a 3 footswitch pedal available for the HX Stomp?
silverhead replied to Digiplay's topic in Helix
That pedal is your 2-switch pedal, as described in the documentation. I don’t know what you mean. It’s not two pedals, it’s two switches. -
Have you assigned the FX blocks to a footswitch? This will allow you to use the switch to turn the FX on/off and will also cause the name of the FX block to appear in the scribble strips (label fields as you are calling them). To make the assignment, select the FX block and touch (don’t press) the switch with your finger. The display will ask you if you want to make the assignment. Touch OK.

Is there a 3 footswitch pedal available for the HX Stomp?
silverhead replied to Digiplay's topic in Helix
Perhaps I misunderstand your question. The HX Stomp is capable of supporting one or two external footswitches, not three. So, no - there is no 3-switch pedal available. -
At the top of this page there is a pinned item called Limited Support of Legacy Products. It explains the policy and the products affected. It’s unlikely that the Workbench product will be updated to run on Mac OS Monterey and M1. However, the existing capabilities of the Variax 600 and the X3 Live are unaffected.

I just checked the manual. The parameter is called Speed, not Time. Select the Tremolo block in the signal flow view and the parameters will be visible.
-
The labels on the scribble strips can be customized. By default, the label shows the name of the FX block. But once the label has been customized (like the 'More Reverb' label) you must manually relabel it if you want a different display. The easiest way to customize a label is to use HX Edit. Go to the Bypass/Controller Assign tab and select the block you want to relabel in the left hand column. You will see a Customize field at the bottom of the pane on the right. Type ion the name you'd like to see displayed and hit the Enter key.

How to assign General volume ( the big weel on front of Helix) to a pedal
silverhead replied to l6guitarman's topic in Helix
Thanks guys. Makes sense. I’m more of a pinky-knob twirler but now I can see the pedal can be useful. Obvious when I think about it from another view.- 13 replies

How to assign General volume ( the big weel on front of Helix) to a pedal
silverhead replied to l6guitarman's topic in Helix
I’ve always wondered why people put a VOL block at the beginning of the signal chain. Like you I think it’s unnecessary, but maybe I’m missing something. Anyone care to explain it to me? Seriously - this is not a setup for me to argue against it. I’d like to understand how it may be better than using the guitar’s Vol knob.- 13 replies

Check the Time setting in the tremolo block parameters. Make sure it is set to a note value (responds to the Tap Temp switch) rather than a millisecond (ms) fixed value.

Have you tried what hurghanico suggested? Turn off the delay on your patch and see if the ‘reverb’ disappears.
