  1. Just to make sure….. are the Send and Return blocks in your Helix preset turned on? Seems obvious, I know, but I’ve seen this before. …. btw… what is the ‘Torpedo capture’ you mention?
  2. The procedure is described in detail on the final 2 pages of the JTV Pilot’s Guide. (See Support tab above, then Manuals, then select the JTV product)
  3. Do NOT use Wd40!! My first attempt to get rid of the squeaking would be to loosen the pedal mechanism. There’s an Allen nut/wrench for that. Google is your friend.
  4. Short answer: No, there is no way. You’re right when you say ‘that’s what a looper should do’, and that’s what standalone looper pedals do. The Looper in current Line 6 devices is not really designed to support live play and stored loops. It’s designed for two things, really: - practicing solos over a short recorded loop (looper block at end of signal flow chain), or - tweaking your tones during preset development. Record a loop, put your guitar down, and have you hands free for tweaking during playback of the loop (looper at the start of your chain). I’m sure some people manage to make it work for occasional use in a live situation and the introduction of the 1-switch Looper block helps with that. But anyone who uses a looper as an integral part of their live setup uses a standalone external looper pedal designed for that purpose.
  5. I see. Then your #3 requirement - as close as possible to inline pedalboard - argues in favour of the HX FX because that’s exactly what it’s designed to be/do.
  6. That immediately rules out the HX FX because it has no amp/cab modeling. So now you’re down to two options. I would recommend the Pod Go for overall simplicity and ease of use.
  7. Yeah... That's not a Line 6 JTV59. I'm comparing the photos to a Line 6 JTV59 that I am holding in my hands. The back photo shows that ii's missing two routing cutouts that should be housing some electronics and a battery housing. The bridge is obviously not authentic either. No need to look further.
  8. I don’t know for sure but my guess would be that it’s not as much DSP capacity as a different reason. Allowing snapshots to switch amp or FX models would probably result in the sort of audio gaps that defeats the main purpose of snapshots. The audio gap between presets is caused by loading new preset structure and model data. That’s what would be required here.
  9. You can’t switch the amp model using snapshots in a preset. Nor can you do it with any other FX block. The blocks and model selections are defined by the preset, not by snapshots. You would need to use the same amp model for both a clean and dirty tone. You would need to include both amp blocks in the preset, turning one on and the other off as you switch snapshots. Edit: Sorry. Just noticed you’re talking about the Pod Go which isn’t capable of using two amp blocks.
  10. You’d think all those octopuses would have enough arms to discretely reposition a block as you changed snapshots. ;-)
  11. You may find that using the 1-switch Looper in the HX Stomp will meet your requirements. No DAW or complexity. Just add the Looper block to the front of your signal chain and record your bass line (time limited, which is really the only drawback). Then put your guitar down, play back the loop, and start tweaking your tone.
  12. I think you’re asking whether the ‘Big Book’ is suitable for you. I think at least the section describing the FX would be. The rest is something you might not find useful now but that you could likely grow into (multi-band processing, EQ magic, …). In any case, the value-for-cost ratio is very high. The author, Craig Anderton, provided some comprehensive info a couple of posts prior to yours. There are a couple of points that I think are very relevant for you: - the attached pdf file that shows his description of the quite complex Multi Pass Delay FX. If you can follow that and are motivated to experiment with it on your Helix then the details on all the other (non-Legacy) FX will be worth the cost. - Sweetwater’s InSync online magazine will apparently be publishing other excerpts. Maybe you could keep an eye on those for a while and see if you think purchasing the complete book would be worthwhile.
  13. You’re right - you can’t. The selection and position of blocks in a preset is fixed with respect to snapshots. You can change the on/off state and parameter settings in snapshots but not the selection or positioning of the blocks.
  14. Use the Support tab at the top of this page. From there select Knowledge Base. Scroll down to the POD section and select Podxt family. The 6th item in the list is what you want. (I tried to post the link here but it failed for some reason). You don’t need a midi cable.
  15. The way to vote is through Ideascale as noted above. Did you vote there? Your ‘vote’ here is no vote at all.
  16. It’s been a while since you used it. Are you 100% certain that you are connecting the rack and the floorboard properly?
  17. Since you’re new at this and don’t need more inputs I would say stick with what you’ve got until you gain more experience. You’re ’pretty impressed’ with the sound you’re getting right now, and that’s good. Down the road you might find that upgrading your audio interface would be useful, but you might also find that spending the money on something else would be better.
  18. I am trying to register for your service at Helixlib.com. The procedure is breaking down for me at the point that you attempt to send me a confirmation email with further instructions. I have triple-checked that the email address I provided is accurate. I am not receiving your email although on your end you are waiting for my response to it. I have checked my spam folder. Are you aware of any current problem with your registration system? EDIT: OK, I just noticed on your website blog that you are aware of and are working on this issue. Looking forward to trying this out!
  19. Legacy FX are not described with the exception of the odd one for a specific purpose. Amp and Cab blocks are not described. The updates are free, I won't include any examples here. It's up to the author to do that if he wishes. He visits this thread and may or may not provide examples. Have you wathced the advertising video posted at the top of this thread? It may contain some examples.
  20. All snapshots share the single configuration of the preset. With Snapshots you can manage the FX on/off state as well as many parameters, but Snapshots do not allow you to change the preset configuration. As soon as you add a lock to the preset that block is available in all Snapshots. I described a setup above that will work for both your amp and/or FRFR connections. Just adjust your cabling to suit the physical setup you want (e.g. XLR outputs to your FRFR speakers).
  21. @spaceatl has suggested something that will work, as far as we understand your setup. Another option is to consider using parallel paths in Path 1. Split the path after all FX blocks that you want to go to your amp. In the lower path (1B) add an amp and cab as you suggested. That’s all that should be in Path 1B unless you want something in FOH that you don’t want in your amp. Set Path 1A output to 1/4” using amp output level and route that back to your amp FX Return. Set Path 1B to XLR using whatever level is appropriate for FOH and feed it/them to FOH.
  22. He says he’s not using 4CM. The Helix LT is in the FX Loop of his amp.
  23. Helix (or Helix Native) doesn’t affect the Variax guitar processing at all. All the processing of the guitar signal itself is still done within the Variax guitar. Helix can help you manage the Variax settings and ensure consistency of Variax setup for each Helix preset.
  24. Good questions. Since you are new to the forum allow me to make a suggestion. Rather than extending an existing thread to ask new questions it’s better to start a new thread for each question. That way you will get more clear and focused replies, making it easier for people to see the new questions and reply. Notice that the title of this thread has nothing to do with your new questions. People who look at threads based on their title won’t see your new questions, or won’t be interested in responding. You have at least two new questions here. Start two new threads and choose meaningful titles.
  25. A clip tuner won't pick up nearby audio. It works by vibration of the headstock. I've frequently seen one used in a live setting by a guitar player tuning mid-song while the band carries on.
