  1. No, but sometimes users go to the effort of manually creating such a listing (or a program to generate such a listing from the raw .hlx file which is in JSON format I believe) and sharing it here in some common format such as Excel. I believe an .hlx file reader and interpreter program has been created and posted by a user but I can't find it at the moment and I don't know if it works for HX Stomp.
  2. Other users organize their presets to work around the bug until it’s fixed.
  3. You say there’s no LED on the tuning knob. There should be. Normally there’s a blue light on the tuning knob that indicates whether you are in switch position 1 and 5 (light is off) or 2 and 4 (light is on). The position/light toggles on/off with each press of the tuning knob.
  4. It takes about two minutes using HX Edit to reorganize your presets to avoid this bug. When Line 6 fixes the bug you can go back to your familiar structure. Meantime it’s up to you whether or not you want to continue to be ‘bugged’ by this. Seriously, what difference does the bank number make? Your familiarity is with changing banks using your foot. You know when you are in a general purpose vs. song oriented bank, and you’re very familiar with the Up/Down switch pressing required to navigate back and forth. None of that changes whether the banks you use are numbered 31 to 4, or 14 to 20, or any other of several consecutive banks. What’s important is maintaining consistency with your foot switch sequencing, not the bank numbers.
  5. Of course, you could simply organize your presets differently so that you avoid this 'mission critical' bug. Why not use Banks 1, 2, and 3 instead? Or any 3 banks that do not roll over from 32 to 1. You are choosing to suffer from this bug. Why?

  7. 1. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the actual real ones'. Each amp has a default setting which is the set of amp parameter values that you will see when you add the amp to a preset by selecting it from the list of available amps, rather than by copying it from some other source. I presume these default settings are what you mean. There is no document from Line 6 (or maybe anywhere) that details these default settings. If you want to answer this question in detail you will likely have to do it yourself by brute force, examining each amp's default individually. Having done so it would be a useful service to the community to publish your findings here. That way, the next time someone on the forum asks the same question we will be able to point them to your document! Note that as of firmware 3.0 you can customize the detailed settings of any amp (or other block) and save it as your own personal default, in a User Model, or Favorite.
  8. I don’t find it very useful for exactly this reason. I usually abandon it before I figure out a useful keyword or phrase.
  9. Just a further comment - making a Helix backup is not like creating a system restore point in Windows. Rather, it is like using File History in Windows. It backs up files and settings but does not make changes to the OS.
  10. Restoring the .hxb file does not restore the firmware to an earlier version. It is a system backup that you can use to restore the Global Settings, IRS, and Setlists from their state in the earlier firmware to the new firmware. Your firmware remains at the new version, in this case v3.01. The Restore operation allows you to choose subsets of the entire backup that you want to restore. So, for instance, you can choose to restore only the specific setlists that contain the presets you want.
  11. The USB 1/2 output pair sends the stereo output of the Helix device to your DAW. You assign it in your DAW a as the Input Source when you arm a stereo track for recording. So, yes, USB 1 is the L stereo channel and USB 2 is the R. Since you’re new to this you might also explore the potential of simultaneously recording your dry guitar. Create a mono track in your DAW and assign the input source to USB 7, which by default in Helix sends the dry guitar signal. You can use this track later if you wish to use a plug-in such as Helix Native (for which you gat a significant discount as a Helix owner). With Helix Native you can then affect the dry guitar track to provide all the processing that the Helix device can do. The presets are interchangeable between Helix and Helix Native, so you can begin by importing the Helix preset that you used while doing the initial recording and then tweaking as you wish during the development of your song. Since you have the dry track recorded you won’t have to re-record the guitar part to adjust the tone. When finished to your satisfaction in the recording you can then export the preset from Helix Native, import it into HX Edit, and take your studio tone on the road for gigs.
  12. I’m not 100% sure about the POD XT but I used to own a POD X3 Live, a more recent model than the XT. The X3 is not a fully functional MIDI interface device. The X3 device handles a subset of MIDI a commands such as PC and some CCs. It does not handle (and does not Pass Thru) other MIDI commands such as the critically important Note On/Off commands that are necessary for supporting MIDI keyboard controllers. It would surprise me if the newer X3 series had MIDI capabilities stripped out of it after the XT series. I’m inclined to think the XT is the same as the X3 in terms of its MIDI implementation.
  13. You shouldn’t. Stick with the sound you like.
  14. Depending on the complexity of what you want to compare it may be easier to use the Looper block at the beginning of the signal chain. Record a loop, start playback, put your guitar down and tweak to your heart’s content. This way you can compare changes one setting/block at a time and hear the results in real time. But, yes... snapshot as are also a good way especially if you want to compare multiple changes at the same time and quickly flip back and forth between them.
  15. It’s possible that a Global Setting has been changed. A firmware update resets the Globals to their default settings. You can restore your customized settings by using the HX Edit Restore Backup feature. Select to restore the Global Settings.
  16. I find that most Helix patches designed for piezo acoustic guitars (including those designed for the Variax acoustic models) can sound either quite good or quite bad when I’m strumming. The difference is in my touch, strumming and pick. I find a need a lighter touch with my fingers on the strings, a MUCH lighter touch in strumming and a soft pick. Those elements, in my experience, are more important than the actual patch as long as it’s reasonably well designed. The best acoustic patches for piezo guitars that I have found in the Helix Marketplace are from Glenn DeLaune: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/acoustic-simulations-patches-for-acoustics-piezo-equipped-guitars-and-variax-guitars.html Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Glenn DeLaune in any way, and my opinion is not intended to reflect in any way on anyone else’s Helix Marketplace offerings. I am simply offering my opinion based on my own personal experience after purchasing this preset pack myself, and comparing to acoustic presets I created myself as well as other Customtone downloads.
  17. The best way would be to contact Line 6 directly. See Contact Support under the Support tab at the top of this page.
  18. In your Line 6 Account settings there is a section called ‘Ignore Users’. You can enter specific usernames there and set some parameters.
  19. A setlist file (*.his) is a bulk install using the HX Edit program. It installs all presets in the setlist. If there are existing presets in the given setlist location that you want to protect you should back them (or the entire setlist) up before installing the new setlist.
  20. It’s not discontinued. It’s still being manufactured and supported. It hasn’t received a firmware update in a long time but that doesn’t mean it never will. Still, Line 6 support seemed to drop the ball on this one.
  21. I’d love to see double DSP too, at the same price. Money for nothin’ and your chips for free! (DSP chips, that is).
  22. How much more would you be willing to pay for that? Double the price?
