Apparently the latest release of El Capitan fixes the problem. Give it a try.

I think you nailed it several days ago. What happened to that? There's not much more to be said or gained here. You have your opinion and have stated it clearly and repeatedly. Others disagree. Doesn't make anybody right, wrong, or trollish. No point in continuing because nobody is going to change anyone's mind here.

Maybe. Or perhaps growing to respond to the incessant demands of 'We want more, and faster!'

Some find the sound using the VDI cable to be a little more harsh, or brittle, than the 1/4" connection. That's a matter of individual perception and perhaps some would use different words to describe it, but there is a slight sonic difference. Technically I think it's mostly attributable to two things: - a standard guitar cable carrying its analog signal, especially a long one, can contribute to creating a signal difference vs. the digital signal carried by the VDI cable, and - the 1/4" connection has a parameter associated with it related to impedance. The VDI connections does not have this parameter. -
No - just the VDI (cat5) cable. It sends both model and mag signals. The HD500 can select them independently as Input 1 and Input 2 for separate processing.

http://line6.com/software/index.html In the Products field select your Firehawk device. In the Software field select Drivers. Specify your OS if not already properly selected.

Yes, but I think we're caught up on semantics. Technically, the magnetic pickups in a Variax are not considered a Variax 'model'. So two things are simultaneously true. 1) you can only store one Variax model in a Helix preset and only use one model at a time, and 2) you can use the Variax mag pickups and one model simultaneously.

My apologies, again, to Shawn. I made a joke. At the time I thought I was following along with a joke-in-progress. My mistake. My attempt at humour was perceived as hating, which I deeply regret. Not my intention at all. Lesson learned (again): humour is easily misinterpreted when expressed in black and white text.

OK - guilty as charged. In all seriousness I thought this was a joke thread. Line 6 should include a digital clock on their products because some people choose not to wear a watch and find it too troublesome to fumble around for their phone? Really? Sorry for not taking that seriously.

Ya don't even need the light!! It has a one-touch built-in light for the display!! Will wonders never cease?

Here's an amazing highly portable product that meets both needs, and then some, at a very reasonable price! http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Mens-W756-1AVCR-Sport-Watch/dp/B0013M6BRA

Buy a JTV 59?

Make sure the USB interface is included. It sometimes gets left behind in the return of used Variaxes. Even if you don't need it you will want it for potential resale. -

Yes, free - or rather, included in the price of a Variax guitar. Workbench HD works with Variax JTV and Standard guitars. If you don't have one of the listed POD devices you will need the Variax USB Interface hardware to connect the Variax to your computer running Workbench HD. The interface device should also be included with the guitar purchase. -
Yes, press, hold, press again (changing the destination location if desired while flashing). I don't believe this has changed. It's always worked that way.

Are Helix "setlists" real setlists or just different patch banks?
silverhead replied to mykejb's topic in Helix
That's not the way Helix works. Setlists contain unique patches, not pointers, and there is no separate location for what you describe as 'real' patches. -
You need to press the save button again while it's flashing. The SAVE operation is a 2-step process. The first press starts the button flashing. While flashing you have the option to change the location of the about-to-be-saved preset. After doing that (or not) the second press of the button completes the operation.

Have you updated the device firmware to the latest version? If not, do that. If you're still having problems please start a new thread for help.

Sorry - I thought you meant a pitch shift FX in a Helix/POD preset. No offense intended. Just my confusion in terminology. -
If you are talking about looping from an external source like an mp3 player connected to the cd/mp3 input - that can't be done. That input is not routed to the looper. If you are talking about recording a loop that you play, and then playing it back, you need to understand that the looper has no concept of bars or timing. It operates very simply. It starts recording when you tap the Record footswitch, and it stops recording when you tap the PLAY/STOP footswitch. It records everything between those two moments, including any silence. Of course it has no concept of 'silence'; it just records the audio being fed to it. It's up to you to define the timing, and any concept of bars or tempo is only in your playing/listening.

You're welcome. Glad you figured it out.

The mono/stereo loop option is available in Helix, not the POD HD series.

That would be a good idea. -
Make sure your output setting is Studio/Direct. If you are using the 1/4" outputs make sure they are set to Line, not Amp.

Are you running El Capitan? That OS seems to have screwed up many audio devices across the music industry. Apple has been very slow to acknowledge or attempt to fix it. As I understand it Line 6 is in the process of developing a specific driver rather than relying on the now-dysfunctional Core Audio spec.
