  1. This was introduced in firmware 1.06.0 Swap Footswitch Assignments—This feature makes organizing Stomp footswitch mode a lot easier, especially when footswitches may have multiple-assigned items or custom labels/LED ring colors. Touch and hold (but don’t press) any two stomp mode footswitches for one second. A dialog box appears, asking if you want to swap all assignments (including custom labels and colors). Press Knob 6 (OK) • When touch-holding a footswitch to invoke Quick Footswitch Assign (or touch holding two footswitches to swap their assignments), the resultant dialog panel automatically closes after four seconds Note: latest firmware is 1.06.5 You should update if you haven't already.
  2. To anyone who finds this problem: please make sure you open a support ticket and report it. That's the best way to give Line 6 as much info as possible about the nature and extent of the problem so they can assess it. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  3. There are different startup sequences for the Rack than for the floorboard: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/helix-reset-procedures-and-troubleshooting-tricks-r768
  4. That's normal. The file types are not directly compatible. However, you can try using this file conversion utility created by one of the users here (thanks jzab). Convert & Modify POD HD Presets | www. jzab .de
  5. Yes to all points, except you won't necessarily regret not having L6 LINK unless you eventually get the Stagesource speakers. As for output settings, there isn't a specific PA/FRFR setting in Helix. It's either Instrument, Mic or Line (iirc offhand). Use whatever setting matches the expected input level of your Atomics.

    Line 6 UPDATER

Download the Helix app (installer). When you run the installer it will also install the driver and the Updater program. The run the Updater program to update Helix.
  7. Try changing your Variax Settings parameter to Global rather than Per Preset.
  8. I think it's highly unlikely that your Helix is doubly-faulty. I still think it's a setting somewhere, or perhaps a routing or monitoring issue. Try using the Helix headphones output to monitor - take any external monitoring equipment out of play. Double/triple check all relevant settings, both preset and global. Use a different XLR cable. Verify that the mic still works on other equipment. Can't hurt to open a support ticket in case it is another hardware problem. Line 6 will be able to tell if it is and advise you on resolving it.
  9. That's strange - a dynamic mic that needs phantom power? When you say 'send it back again'.... What is 'it'? And why was it sent back before?
  10. It's probably a setting in Helix that needs to be tweaked. Check your Input setting and the Mic input gain/trim setting (see Global Settings -> Ins/Outs).
  11. Yes. You can set the s/pdif output to send the dry signal. See Setup menu page 5.
  12. Is your battery well charged? Do you have a 1/4" jack in the connection? Is your volume knob turned up at least a bit (i.e. not at zero)?
  13. I believe it depends on whether your Helix preset uses a cab/mic model. If not, set the L2 to Electric Guitar and it adds some EQ to simulate a guitar cabinet. If you are using a cab/mic in the preset (that was my assumption) then set the L2 to PA/Reference to give more of an FRFR EQ. Here's what the manual says about the Electric Guitar mode: The overall frequency response emulates the sound of a 212 combo amp. The 10†speaker plays full range, with the horn adding only the smallest amount of sparkle. Edit: So it seems to me that if you use a cab/mic in the preset and then also set the speaker mode to Electric Guitar then you are doubling up on the cab modelling. That may sound great and there's nothing wrong with doing it. Let your ears be the guide.
  14. Perhaps he did return long enough to read the first response. He got his answer and perhaps hasn't returned for the pleasure (?) of seeing all our attempted humour. It was, and remains, his only post. He's brilliant. He avoided reading the manual, got the answer to his question in about half an hour (during which we can be sure he was not reading the manual), and even avoided all the lectures about how he should read the manual! All in all a positive reinforcement experience to ensure that he never does read it.
  15. ... but is apparently incorrect anyway! Thanks for clarifying, duncann.
  16. I think Helix (like other L6 devices) can only use one digital i/o at a time. So if you're using L6 Link the USB connection to DAW may well be limited to digitized stereo audio with no additional digital multi-channel capability.
  17. Not sure if you're referring to my response to BillBee but it was intended to be humourous, offered in the same smiley-face spirit that I assumed his '2's my limit' comment was made. I hope he was joking 'cuz I know I was..... The spirit of the thread seems to be ...'ain't nobody got time for that', where 'that'=RTFM
  18. Make sure the Helix Digital In/Out setting is AES/EBU (see Global Settings, Ins/Outs, page 3). L2t speaker mode should be PA/Reference.
  19. Here it is in two easy steps, within your limit: 1) RTFM 2) Repeat step 1. :P

Yes, I agree. And he's doing what he can to get the documentation improved by using ideascale. If you agree you should vote up the idea. Meanwhile, further complaining here about the state of the documentation is not productive. What is productive and helpful is for you, hideout, and others to ask the questions here that the documentation doesn't answer for you, as you've also done. If I have any suggestions for you about that I will respond in another post after thinking about it. It's a complicated setup you want and beyond any direct experience I have. Not sure it can be done in a single preset, as phil_m has also indicated.
  21. I too remember that each Save operation produced a new copy of the tone. That changed in a recent app update - forget exactly when. But I have not seen the symptom you describe. When I recall one of My Tones, change its name, edit and Save I get a new tone with the new name and the original tone remains. Can you reproduce this behaviour and provide the exact steps so that I can test it on my equipment?

Are you having trouble doing what you want to do, or are you just pointing out (again) that you don't like the documentation? We get it, and as I suggested earlier you are doing what you can (I hope) via Ideascale to get that improved. Meanwhile, the documentation is what it is. You don't like it. You've made that clear. Repeating it here endlessly is no longer productive. Are you having a technical issue that we can help you with?
  23. Not worth waiting. There won't be Linux drivers until Linux represents a market share that competes with Windows and Mac.
