I don't think there's anything on the flash drive that isn't available online. Mostly it's the user manuals which you can download from the Manuals section of this website.

Complete newbie. Trying to connect pod HD500x to fender tube amp. Help!
silverhead replied to doorsfloydzep's topic in POD HD
Your setup looks correct. Forgive me if I am reading too much into your self-proclaimed newbie-ness, but there's an important thing you need to understand here. If you are connecting the output of the HD500x into the front panel Guitar In jack of your amp you are potentially using two guitar amps and cabs - the modeling in the POD as well as your physical amp. This will rarely sound good. You should either: - use the POD for FX only, and your physical amp will provide the preamp and power amp/cab section, or - neutralize your physical amp tone stack as much as possible and avoid using any built-in FX on your amp. Use an HD500x preamp model with no cab/mic simulation (your physical amp provides that), or - connect your POD output to the FX Return on your amp. Again, use a preamp, model on the POD. In this case you are completely bypassing your physical amp's preamp section, hence no doubling up on the processing. On the other hand, there really are no rules. The above are typical guidelines but feel free to experiment. -
I would like to do this on an M20d channel where I am using my Martin D-28 with under saddle piezos. There is no preamp onboard the guitar so I have had to do some pretty extreme EQing to get rid of the boominess of the raw piezos, but I am overall satisfied with that aspect. But I would like to reduce the pick scraping noise in my strumming. I am experimenting with Dynamic EQ and the De-Esser but so far I'm not satisfied. Any hints?

Both have PC/Mac editors - no mobile. HD500x is similar to Firehawk for USB recording purposes. HD500x produces much better tones than the X3.

Don't need VSTs or even a DAW to do that with Helix. Record a Loop (up to 2 mins) in Helix with the Looper in pre-position, i.e. as the first block in the signal chain. The looper records the dry incoming signal and on playback routes that signal from its position at the beginning of the chain. Tweak to your heart's content during playback and you can hear the changes applied to the signal in real time.

AFAIK Glenn has not made any Firehawk compatible patches. The best you could do is download the Pod HD500X Edit program and some of his HD500X patches. You can inspect the preset details in the editor (it does not need a HD500X device connected) and manually recreate the settings in the Firehawk. They will need to be tweaked but it can provide a good starting point. Not that the HD500X signal flow is more flexible than Firehawk. You will find that the presets cannot be exactly duplicated in terms of number, type, and positioning of FX.

Want to mix w/POD Farm without having to carry around my X3 Live
silverhead replied to colm-lindsay's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Exactly. Which is why the answer is quite predictable. -
I think the first consideration is the importance you place on using your laptop as the editing interface for the device. They are both good audio interface devices (although the X3 Live has more flexibility in this regard) but the Firehawk FX editor is only iOS/Android compatible. There is no editor for Firehawk that runs on your laptop, just as there is no X3 editor that runs on mobile devices. Make that decision first, then see if Firehawk is still a candidate. If so then the audio interface features (for recording) become important. The X3 USB driver provides 8 selectable channels, including two dry signals (guitar and mic) for recording its output into a DAW. Firehawk offers two channels and no dry signal. The X3 supports recording vocals; Firehawk has no Mic input. The X3 also gives you a license for the original Pod Farm program for plug-in post-processing of the recorded dry signal. The X3 and Pod Farm presets are (with minor constraints) compatible and transferable so that you can reproduce your recorded sound exactly when playing live. There is no tone-compatible plug-in processor for Firehawk. .... And the X3 price is much better..... The one area where Firehawk is a better option, in my opinion, is the tone itself. It includes some of the more recent HD modeling technology. All in all I'd say you'd be better off with the X3.

I don't think you can transfer the license. But it won't hurt to try to argue your case directly with Line 6. To do that, open a support ticket. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html -

If you're absolutely convinced that it's not a setting then you need to take your X3 Live device to an authorized Line 6 service center. However, just in case..... - Check the Outputs page in the menus. Make sure that the 'exit' that you are not hearing is not muted. Make sure the Pan setting is appropriate for your physical connections (e.g. if you are only using the L XLR Output make sure the XLR outputs are not panned fully R). - Check the Amp/Line switch associated with the 1/4" outputs. Make sure the switch is clearly set to one side or the other. If it is in the middle it acts as a Mute button. If those things check out OK we will need more information to be able to help you. - Do you hear sound through the headphones? - Are you sure it is only one 'exit' that is silent? Which one(s)?

Vyzex Editor for Pocket pod
silverhead replied to andyrocks's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Look in the Downloads section of this website, under the Support tab at the top of this page. You will find the Vyzex Editor listed in the Software field. -
If you want a processor designed specifically for vocals then yes, you will get better results. The POD is primarily a guitar processor, but it can be used for vocals. I would think some of the FX in the TC-Helicon could be used for an electric guitar too, but it won't match the POD. For my limited vocal processing needs the POD works well. But certainly the TC-Helicon wioild be better.

The Mic input can be selected as an input to a preset, just like Guitar. So you can use any of the FX, including reverb, for vocal processing. Typically for vocals you would not use a standard guitar amp. I prefer to use the Vintage Preamp (you'll find it in the EQ section of FX) as well as some compression and a bit of reverb. EQ, chorus and delay FX can also be used if you wish. Essentially you set up the preset just like you would a guitar preset. In fact you can use a dual path preset to process guitar and vocals simultaneously. Here's a preset I created some time ago for using an acoustic guitar with vocals. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/

Yes. I use mid-volume FRFR as my reference, and expect to have to tweak that differently for both gig volume FRFR and again for headphones. So I think you'd really need three versions of your presets if you want them to sound right in all three situations. With Helix you might get away with a single version of all presets if you can make the Global EQ compensate for the different environments. I haven't fiddled around with that yet but theoretically it may work.

Want to mix w/POD Farm without having to carry around my X3 Live
silverhead replied to colm-lindsay's topic in Line 6 Lounge
The solution would be to purchase (yes, purchase) the hardware independent version of Pod Farm 2. The license you have is, as you know, included with and tied to the X3 hardware. That's how Line 6 manages Pod Farm licenses other than the hardware independent version. The Pod Farm software is free to download - anyone can do it. But the bundled (hardware dependent) version will only operate with a licensed device connected. -
I have Firehawk FX so I use the Firehawk app. It is very similar in terms of Bluetooth technology to the AMPLIFi app. The Firehawk app works fine for me with iOS 9.3.1. However, I did have to 'forget' the previous bluetooth connection to the device and re-pair it.

Do i get a free key with my Podhd300?

Is Pod Farm Free when you buy a PodHD300
silverhead replied to swanny3214's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Not free with any Pod HD device. You would need to purchase it. -
Connect the HD Pro into the FX Loop of the X3 Pro. Use only FX blocks in the HD Pro signal path; do not use the amp/mic/cab modeling.

Recognize that this is a user support forum. It's normal for most of the discussions here to be about problems some people are having. The vast majority of users who are not having problems don't come here to talk about their lack of problems. Don't anticipate that you will have problems based on this forum; it doesn't represent the average user experience. Yes you should check the firmware on your device to see if it needs updating. Information on how to do that will be included in the documentation when it arrives. You can also find it in the knowledge base here (under the Support tab at the top of this page).
